Bad Influence

So since the puppy came home about 3 weeks ago Scout has decided that it's ok for him to go potty in the house as well. However it's only when either me or my girlfriend is home we leave him out while we're at work and have not had an incident. However twice with my girlfriend and once with me he has went number 2 in the living room. So I've had to start leashing both of them and taking them outside to potty and only going back inside after we've finished.

It's just weird…

New trick

So for the past couple of days we've been trying to teach Murphy how to shake our hands and it took a little bit. He wasn't quite understanding what we were trying to do when we'd push his paw forward to get him to put it up, but he's finally got it. He's so cute when he does it. All he ever tries to do is please us and make us happy and he always does. We love him so much. We have such a great dog.

Molly's chewing problems

Molly is so smart. She around 9 months old now and is just incredibly intelegent. She has learned sit, stay, lay, all the way down, kisses, up, down, got to your room, no bite, and many more. She responds to many numerous comands just while you are talking to her. The one thing we can't get her to stop is chewing up the carpet or my shoes. I can hide my shoes but not the carpet. I hate to have to start kenneling her again, but she is destroying the carpet! She has toys and chewies, and when I… Continue

No running for Sally!

My biggest challenge of the weekend has been keeping Sally from running after her being spayed. She doesn't understand why she can't play like we usually do, and she's been doing a lot of whining.

I'm kind of depressed though, because I live on the Gulf Coast and it might not be too long before our beautiful beaches are covered in oil.

Lil' Puppy Brother, Day Two

They've spent the day playing together, and Ginny has toned down her grumbling protests about the baby brother encroaching upon her space. Still without a name, but it will come in time. We think he's definitely a "co-jack" (corgi/jack russell) and he is boingy. Real sweet natured, playful, and mostly housebroken too (but I'm crating anyhow, at least until I know he's more reliable. Here's a pic for everyone to enjoy!…

My heart is still racing.

bit of a scare here at my house. I'm usually very cautious about removing the dogs' collars when we're home, but I forgot to take Goldy's collar off last night after getting home from my brother's derby party. Bear and Goldy were wrestling and Bear's mouth got caught on Goldy's collar and he evidently twisted - both were very scared, including me. I managed to unclick… Continue

Ginny's new brother!!

Ginny is in her little puppy bed that she's too big for because she is completely jealous that her BRAND NEW BABY BROTHER was taking a liking to it. That's right, Ginny is a big sister now. We found a little corgi mix at the local shelter. He is about 6 months old and was transfered from another shelter in Kansas. We're trying to think of names for him, and I know this is lame-o, but we have a "theme" of Harry Potter names, so if you have any good ideas... so…

Tips on introducing Maggie to the new kitten.

My husband and I thought it a good idea to bring a new kitten into our lives and thus have a companion for Maggie. So now Riley our 11 week old ragdoll/persian mix is home and Maggie is just itching to herd him in her typical corgi manner. Riley isn't quite sure what to make of Maggie and this has stuck to his room. Any ideas on how I can peacefully get these two to bond without causing any anxiety?

Surprise, Surprise! We think we have Chibradors....

So....... My mom has a black lab named Isabell and she is kind of small; only about 45 pounds. And she also has a long haired chihuahua named Lupe (Loo-PAY). Well, when Isabell was in heat, Lupe got her while she was under the bed. My mom has always been great about keeping them apart but Lupe gets crazy and slipped through my mom's legs as she was walking into her bedroom where Isabell was lying helplessly under the bed. Those of you who know about breeding know about them getting stuck and…

No corgi

When creating my profile I chose that I had "no corgi". Unfortunately this is still the case. However, I was inspired to write lyrics about having no corgi based upon Led Zeppelin's "No Quarter". So, here it is...

No Corgi…

Officially One!

Dexter turned one! :D I am so proud of him. He is really a good dog. We worked out our issues with walking on a leash. He does beautifully now. He is still a little wary of other dogs after a pitbull off a leash ran up on him and caused him to rage, but he is getting better. We are working at introducing him to other dogs slowly, letting him get his "bark" out, and showing him that "yes, hunny, when mommy is here everything is okay." He is progressing.

Happy Birthday Jack!

It's hard to believe, but my sparkly boy is three years old today. Where does the time go?

So a very Happy Birthday to Jack, the dog who everyone loves, the one who thinks there are no strangers in the world, just friends he hasn't met yet. He does everything with grand enthusiasm, and I positively adore him.

(He's the one with two toys in his mouth, because one just won't…

Well, he seems to be getting better.....:)

So my last blog post was all about my corgi Dax and how awfully itchy he had been the last few months, from what i expect to be airnorne allergies. He would itch to the point of injuring himself and even had to be put on antibiotics at one point. He has been on and off prednisone for the last year-and-a-half, and has been on more high quality foods than I can count. Well, as a last resort, I decided to switch him over to dehydrated raw food, that was specifically for "allergy dogs". He loved it… Continue
