I was just wondering if anyone has trained their puppy to use bells on the door when they need to go out. Nella totally gets the concept that she needs to go outside to do "the business" but her way of telling me is to go and sit on my shoes by the back door. Not extremely effective means of communication :) I was thinking about the bells hanging from the knob or something like that. How would I begin this? Thanks for any help or feedback!

It's now been 6 weeks since Sidney had FHO surgery for his hip dysplasia. I was feeling very worried and depressed a couple weeks ago, because Sid seemed to be sad and he just didn't seem to be moving well. Then last weekend, it was like he turned a corner and started bearing weight on the leg and taking some "normal" steps. Over the past week he's been moving easier and just seems, well, happier. He's got that glint in his eye again. We have three more weeks of swim therapy.
When we…

Quin is almost a year old (Nov 5) and I am very excited. I think her attention span is finally where I can really start to rely on behaviors. Today we did a sit stay with distraction. I threw one of her favorite toys around and had her sit. She did really well. I watch Pamela Marxsen on youtube she is a very good trainer, she uses positive clicker training. When Quin was real young I tried to train her but i was very frustrated either I wasn't doing it right or she was too young, but now... she…

Kirby wet her bed today-never a problem for her-whil we were working. I took her out and she tinkled 3 more times! (the oops was still quite wet and her rear wet, so recent) I felt so bad for her! Poor little girl!

I can't believe we've had Isabella for 6 weeks already! The time is flying and she is growing leaps and bounds. Her 16th week birthday was 10/19/20, and boy, oh boy did she make it a day to remember!
The morning started as it always does...She had a little time downstairs by herself (gated in the "safe" area) between my husband going upstairs and the kids and I coming down. I was about to finish up getting ready for work when I thought, hey, I better go downstairs and let…

So just a question...where do you go to find Cardigan Welsh Corgi's in California? I know eventually I will want two (possibly three?) new babies and I have no clue on how to find a reputable breeder. I am located on the Central Coast here in California and I've never seen any Cardi's around! (I have seen a TON of Pembroke's but have never asked where they came from.) If anyone has any good suggestions please let me know.

This morning i woke up and let the dogs out like normal. I let them out did a couple of things then went to bring them in so they can eat. Rhun is always the first one in everyday, once he is done his business he always finds a spot to relax by the front door. Well today he was by the back fence laying in the grass and he didn't want to get up and come in side. When i did get him in he started doing this hacking cough like he is trying to hack up a fur ball like a cat but all that ends up…

Well, it's been a "ruff" two weeks if I do say so myself. Last night I finally mustered up the courage to pick up Cowboy's food bowls and wash them and put them up, but I couldn't find the strength to remove the two little rugs that I had for him to sit on while he ate. Just now I received the call from the vet that his ashes are ready to be picked up and it felt like my world was crashing down all over again. I've been reading quite a few posts about all of the other Corgi's here and they have…

I was so stressed yesterday! We dropped Kirby off for her spaying (she didn't even glance back at me when they took her!) Ha ha... She got home late yesterday afternoon super loopy. She was sleeping most of the time and when awake looked awfully confused-with drug induced yoda ears most of the night. But she's back to mostly normal today. Still sleepy, but barked to wake me up this morning (after last night I wasn't sure she remembered how to bark, she just gurgled at me). I put her on the bed…

On another list someone was alerting the readers that she's seen pumpkin on the shelves and even some special for dogs in the dog food section.
What's the deal? Do dogs like Pumpkin? I'm a new dog owner and the people things my Tasha likes most are scrambled eggs and vegetables. "or anything on MY plate", says my hubby, aka G

Winston is finally twelve weeks now. His ears have been taped once now, but they still won't stick up. When I called our breeder, she said we could try retaping them but she said that she's sure they'll be up by his 4th month. His ears are just so big! I suppose I'll try retaping them this week, but he just hates it so much. He was constantly stopping to scratch at the tape last time.
He had his last booster shots today. I am so proud of him, he never cries when he gets shots. I'm an…

Well today I was out getting my garden fence down (which by the way did not keep out the rabbits) and had 5 dogs out with me. Awhile later I realized that Sage and Jackson were not around. So I called and called. About 5 min later I looked down the driveway and here was this little animal running full speed, tongue almost to the ground not slowing down till she plopped her butt on the ground next to me! What they did, I think was that Jackson went to our other place about a mile from where I…

His mom's of course!
When he's sleeping, he sometimes sticks the tip of his tongue out and his cheeks move like he's suckling. Very adorable. He's a puppy at heart!
Anyone else's corgi do this?

Look at any map of San Diego, and you’ll see vast green patches everywhere. Don’t be fooled…these aren’t Dog Parks, they are mostly lush golf courses. But fear not, San Diego is filled with dog-friendly “nude” parks and beaches. What I mean by “nude” is that your dog is allowed to run & revel around in their birthday furs without the confinement of that darn leash they dread when around other dogs.
Below are a few of my favorites in the Metro & Coastal areas.…
