I'm currently reading Patricia McConnell's "The Other End of the Leash." The very first line in her introduction (after the story) is: "All dogs are brilliant at perceiving the slightest movement that we make, and they assume that each tiny motion has meaning."
Couldn't be truer! Just yesterday, Casey was on the mainfloor of our…

My mom is dying. She has an 11 year old tan and white Welsh corgi, cute but quirky...Love her lots anyways!!!
She suffers from IBS and the groomer claims she has a food allergy. My mom was brought down here and I am going to get her little companion. Does anyone have any advice. The dog has had a cone on her head for 2 yrs now to stop her from chewing on her 2 front paws. The vets in the U.P. of Michigan said she did it to get a buzz..OK ya sounds dumb to me to but they said oh after the…

Waffle was a NIGHTMARE yesterday. I just... I don't even know where it came from! I know the honeymoon period with him acting like an angel had to end sometime, but DAMN. He was so irritating allll daaay. It would have been better if my sinuses weren't trying to smother me. I basically slept until 3 PM because my head was fuzzy and full of snot. So, Waffle slept with me... mostly. I woke up to a weird gnawing sound and find out he's chewing on my dresser--with two perfectly good chew toys right…

I had heard corgis were very bright before and that was definitely a quality that helped my decision in getting one but I'm absolutely amazed by how smart Orion is! I knew corgis could be trained "fast" but I had no idea how fast "fast" was! He already has sit totally and completely down, which took about two five-minute treat-filled training sessions, which I was very happy about, I can be anywhere in the room and say "sit!" and he'll do it. He knows come but only listens when he doesn't have…

So tomorrow my fiancee and I leave for Vegas. We are meeting with 35 close friends and family, getting married and having a nice hiking honeymoon in the national parks.
This means we have to kennel Roslyn for almost 2 weeks. Up until now i was just mildly worried and making plans for her to be as comfortable as possible. She will be kenneled by the same people that taught our obedience classes (it is 2 officers that lead the K9 unit... so she will be surrounded by GSD) and also my…

I love my dogs. Like many Corgis, neither of mine are lovers. They don't care for snuggling, they give me only one or two opportunities a day to love on them. And forget hugs, they act like twelve year olds when their mom kisses them in front of school! But, they get it honestly...I'm not a big softie either. I tend to play rather than cuddle and joke rather than sweet talk.
As many of you know, I teach 7th graders and this time of year can be particularly challenging.…

So I had sinus surgery last Wednesday, which if you follow my blogs you'd already know that, and I have been so proud of the way Callie has behaved. My mom has been with me until Monday and she helped me a lot with taking care of both me and Callie. Also Callie really seems to understand the fact that I still don't feel the greatest, and now with my mom gone she doesn't have someone to play with her all the time. So far we have done good, it's been too hot for her to want to do too…

Great Aunt Missy (L) and Great Grand Nephew Gromit (R)
Gromit had a special visitor this past weekend and it was special for us too. One of the litter mate sisters of our two late Corgi buddies, Watson and Tinsel (1998-2009), is "Mistletoe" or "Missy." Missy is closing in on…
