It seems to be that Eddy doesn't really like to play with smaller or even similar sized dogs, like basset hounds, various medium terriers, weener dogs, etc. He truly prefers playing with biggies like shepherds, danes, pits, etc. Of course he will play for EVER with
any breed puppy, just because he is also a puppy, but when it comes to adult dogs, he goes for the larger ones.
And their owners are
so worried Eddy is going to get mauled or trampled... and I'm like, yes he…

Today was a great day for walks. We took her to the park and just walked around on the grass. We live near the Northwest Missouri campus (which is also an arboretum) and several parks so this is going to work out well. Concrete may be too hard on her little feet for now because she had no problem today on the grass. We have tried treats, but Nellie isn't really all that interested in food (strange for a corgi, we know, but her weight is fine). We were very glad that today was a good day, and…

It's been a while, so I need to catch up on all the Corgi happenings in my family. First, my Dad and Stepmother got a one year old dog in February. They love him. They had lost their Jack Russell of 15 years in November. Now Tucker is everything they ever wanted in a dog. He is great on the farm and loves to travel.
My Mom got a five month old Corgi following the loss of her husband. Winston has helped her deal with the grief. I owe so much…

Thank you to every one who has responded to my blog post. I am starting with a new dog trainer this week (the last one may have been good with dogs but HORRIBLE with people) I am hoping to get more input regarding exercise and foods and will share what I have learned with our new friends! Thanks again for you help keep the information coming-- can never have too much input from experienced corgi owners : )

Hi everyone. Well, I'm new to this website and so far I'm really excited I came across it. We have a pup, Dante, who is the joy of our lives! We just moved to Louisville, KY, to be teachers this coming school year. We call him "drumsticks" because he loves letting his back legs hang straight behind him when he lies down and we say that they look like nice, meaty chicken drumsticks.
I already am dreading being away from Dante so much every day, but last week we had a teaching…

So the title of my blog might seem sarcastic... but its not! Autumn is shedding and I couldn't be happier! She has never shed before like a normal corgi because of her mange. She doesn't still have mange but the scar tissue was so bad that she still has some places that will probably never grow fur. But thats okay. You don't need a winter coat in sunny Santa Barbara where its pretty much 70 degrees all year 'round. But I have noticed her fur getting longer in some spots and developing into…

I am new to MyCorgi.com and fairly new to the Corgi breed. Gretzky is 7 yrs. old. Someone recently told my husband that Corgis get unusually grumpy as they age. Is there any truth to this?
Also, a couple of months ago Gretzky didn't want to go for a walk and didn't want to down the two steps to get in and out of our house. I believe that he might have jumped off of our bed and hurt his back. I am VERY careful now - lifting him in and out of the car and lifting him up and down if we…

You ain't never caught a rabbit. You're a mighty good friend o' mine.
You said you were high-class; that ain't nuthin' but a line.

One week in, and already things have changed so much with my freckle-tummied little stub wagger. She is almost sleeping though the night. Last night, we went to bed around midnight, and she didn't wake me up until seven-thirty in the morning! Which surprised me, since I didn't think she was capable of holding it that long at the age of ten weeks. In any case, it was a nice break from the ~4:30 wakeup call I had been getting in between sleeping for the past six days. Although anticipated, it…

'Charlie' is a four year old tri-semi-fluff rescue that we had just adopted from a family member (a dog lover who saved him from other family members) who was trying to find a home instead of drop him off at a pound.
He had been left outside for almost two years with food and water just sitting outside for insects and whatever to contaminate it. Chris had also said his shelter was a bush cave he had dug out for himself. We were also told that one of the family members did certain…

I just came across a photo of my Max. It was one that we took at our house before taking him to the vet to go to Rainbow Bridge. It is still hurting my heart and I loved him so. His Rainbow Bridge day is on Aug 7th, maybe that is why I am crying my eyes out at finding the photo.

Today is my oldest (and only human) son's birthday...he is 28. He has never met the Corgis but I am hoping to fly him over here in October for a dual birthday party with me. I know he will become a Corgi fan once they get together. Jack where ever you are today, mom is thinking of you and sending a big hug and lots of Corgi kisses your way.

So we got Sadie's test run again and one of her enzymes was back in the normal range and the other had come down but was still a little high. So we are going to keep her on the liver supplement for one month because they think once her system is flushed the other will go back down too. But in just 2 weeks of taking her off of the grain free food she is already doing better. So for us anyway we won't be using grain free food anymore. And to everyone who does use a grain free just make sure you…

Our new corgi puppy Nellie is very cute! We bought her on 7-8-09 which is supposed to be a lucky day and we think that is true. Last Tuesday, we took her to the vet to get her second shot and she didn't even flinch! The vet had her distratcted with treats and she didn't even notice the shot. She is about 2 1/2 months old and she is growing very quickly. She sleeps a lot but most puppies do, she is her sweetest when she is asleep. We have taken her on a couple of successful walks which we were…

Harley had his first vet visit today, since we brought him home from the breeder's. I couldn't go, because I had to work, but my boyfriend Evan took him during his lunch time. Harley weighs a bit over 8 lbs. He will be 12 weeks old next Monday. The vet was a bit concerned with Harley's front legs. He has little knots on the sides of his legs above his paws, and she thinks it may just be because of growing, but he might have bowed legs when he grows up. Let's hope not, because bowed legs is…

I just got my little Shorgi, Mischa, about a week ago, and she's the first puppy I've ever had to deal with. So far, she has a habit of peeing and pooping in the floor and likes to eat anything within her reach. I've looked online for training tips, but all of them seem to shout "one size fits all," which, let's face it, isn't usually true. Can anyone give me some tips for training her?
