Happy Holidays from Stanley Claus

Who would've thought that taking your dog to a crowded noisy mall and plopping him onto a jingling red-faced stranger's lap would have worked out so well.

BEWARE OF DEER CARCASSES!!!!!! CAN'T BELIEVE THIS HAPPENED!!!

We are all safe and sound here but I wanted to share a horrible story that was front page news on our local paper here recently. It involved a local farm family and their 2 St. Bernards one 3yrs and one 17 mos...They had let the dogs out and one did not come back! After searching for her one of their daughters came upon her lifeless in one of the nearby fields...she had their younger dog with her at the time and was making the dreaded cell phone call to let her parents in on the horrible news… Continue

Let's go to work!

For years all I ever had to utter, under my breath, was the word "walk" to get my dogs up and rolling toward the door. Some of my dogs have been so eager to hear the word, that an accidental mention of the "W" word would send them spinning and yelping through the house. Not so with Tag.

The word "walk" seems to hold no charm for him at all. Don't get me wrong, he loves to get out of the house and is eager to see his leash...so eager that on occasion he's found it and brought it to me… Continue

Find the corgi in this picture

We bivouacked on a knife-edge ridge well above 6000', no tent necessary, sky TV all night, a big volcano right behind us.  We had sunset, moonset, and sunrise, all from the same place. But there was something vaguely ominous about that sunset...

Diaper problem. Need help!!!

Lucky keeps taring her diapers off. I even tried the head cone thingy and she can still tare the diapers off. I have even been disciplining her and Lucky just keeps taring the diapers off when I am not looking at her. I really need help because she is making blood stains all over our rented house.

Collapsing Roof

A little piece of our roof collapsed just now, and Bella was the first one to investigate, of course. Bella is like our little Sherlock Holmes. Whenever a mystery needs solving, she's the first on scene. In this mystery, she sniffed everything on sight and ran straight upstairs to investigate further. Which I thought was amazing. She made the connection between the things falling from the roof and the upstairs level. Hmmm.

Losing Teeth and Ein's 2nd Birthday

Brian lost his lower 3 front teeth a couple of days ago.

Check out Brian's teethless-ness:

The picture is grainy because I had to take a screenshot of a video I took since he couldn't stay still for a clear enough picture.

I've been feeding his dry food and adding water to it since he gulps his food down. No chewing whatsoever. By adding water, I slow him down just a little since he has to drink the water first. But… Continue

Wynstan was attacked today by a Cattle dog.

There was so much blood, I was so scared. I am grateful for living only two houses down from the vet. My cousin brought his dog (who wasn't properly socialized) to my house, they got a long fine at first, then she snapped. Wynstan ran yelping with blood gushing out. My whole family was here, my younger cousins were freaking out, and his blood covered my shirt. I picked him up and we ran to the vet's. Luckily the good vet was working and it was nothing serious. When I got back, my uncle said he… Continue

Snow Corgis!!

Just spent over an hour shoveling the driveway and back patio. My 2 Corgis were out running around in the snow. One loved being thrown into a huge pile of snow - queen of the mountain - the other was terrified! haha :)

Goldy attacked by a greyhound...

I've always had great experiences at our local dog park - and always keep an eye out for aggressive dogs and dogs with strong prey drives, especially since Goldy looks like a little bunny, but it never occurred to me to be on the lookout for greyhounds (pitbulls, german shepherds, etc, yes, but greyhounds? I had no idea).

We go to the dog park mostly on days I'm off work from school because I can pretty much guarantee there won't be any other dogs there, and if there are, there's… Continue

Any tips on recovery after neutering?

Just had Nigel neutered yesterday. We had a rough night. He had trouble sleeping with the neck cone and whined all night. My doctor said to continue using the cone collar for 5 days so he doesn't lick or bite the wound area. If I take off the collar, he immediately starts licking the wound. I just feel so badly that Nigel has to wear that cone. He hates it! Anyone have any pointers? Can I spray anything on the area to get him to stop licking? Is it really going to take 5 days for recovery? He's… Continue

Baby, It's Cold Outside...

We brought home some new comfy, cozy cushions for the Corgi kidz last weekend. I get so excited to bring 'em home so they can inspect them and plop on them after they've accepted their new beds.

OMG! You cannot beat the cushions from Costco. They are made well, great size...that cedar smell when they're new and the price cannot be beat...$18.99? Are you kidding me? We had to make a stop at Petsmart before Coscto and the… Continue

I <3 this dog!

I know everyone loves their dogs, but I'm bordering on obsession here. We've had the very good fortune of owning some remarkable dogs (and a few real messes) but I can honestly say that this young pup is the most remarkable dog I've ever owned and maybe ever known.

I didn't even want him! That blue eye! OY! I know it makes him stand out, but honestly! That's not what I was looking for. I was looking for a nice black headed tri female that I could enjoy and who would be a bit more… Continue
