Swollen Corgi Muzzle

So the other night we were watching TV when we hear Ashton let out a little yelp. He was under the coffee table and came scampering out and up on the couch. He had his Nylabone with him and I thought he might have bitten down on it in a funny way and hurt himself. I give him my usual once over and he seemed fine and wasn't upset so I let it go. A few minutes later I look down and see this:

Aargh! Swollen face! The only thing I can come up with is… Continue

Animal news for Arizona. Very Important Weekend! 11/13-11/14

Arizona animal shelters announced today that they will be putting down around 67 animals tomorrow because of lack of space. If you live in the Phoenix area and have room for a pet, please go adopt one tomorrow. If you don't have enough room, the shelters do accept donations (money or animal supplies) to assist with the animals there.

very unique but weird. how about your corgis?

Romeo has one blue and one brown eye.
Romeo ear is slightly bigger than another corgi we meant.
Romeo has only 9 nails. His right paw thumb nail doesn't grow. It is it just me or is romeo handicap. LOL

I was wonder if your corgis are hmm special and unique like Romeo ;D

One Step Forward... Two Steps Back

When I adopted my first dog, a Black Lab/Dalmatian mix at four months, I began training her right away. She knew most of the basic commands, and she learned with lightning speed. Even now at two years, she's still soaking up new commands like a sponge. It's amazing to watch her! With Bella though, she doesn't seem to catch on. She'll finally understand a command, so I move on to the next step and she'll look as if she forgot the last step. I know she didn't forget, but we're constantly… Continue

Ginny's Birthday

Two years ago, in a farm in Northern Colorado, a little puppy-girl was born. I can't believe how time flies, but I wish Ginny a very happy second birthday!

My dogs can't count

Two dogs, two crates. You would not think it would be that difficult.

Jack's crate has been in our breakfast nook since we brought him home. When he was younger, we had his exercise pen in there too, but we put that away when he no longer needed it.

When Maddie came to live with us, we set the exercise pen back up in the breakfast nook so she'd have some more space to move around, since we needed to keep them separated when no one was home. We left it up through her spay… Continue

Small growth

Last night when Ron was petting Penny he felt a small growth on her side. It is below the fur, is about the size of a pea, and you can move it around. Has anyone had experience with this type of thing. Should I bring her to the vet or watch to see if it will go away on it's own? Any advice/ideas would be great...thanks!

Switching Kibble

Wynstan's breeder has him on Nutrena Loyall Puppy Feed, and I can not get it anywhere near me, I really don't want to drive 80 miles to a town just for kibble when some stores around here sell seemingly better food.

My question is: is it difficult getting a puppy to change kibble?

I get a new rescue tommorrow!!!!

I know it's not something I should get excited about but I am! I received a call today from a nearby humane society that has 2 Corgis being surrendered on Fri. These are retired breeding Corgis and are 4 years old soooo I am happy to be able to help one of them start their new life as a family pet! So in a couple months I hope to be posting a "home wanted" for which ever young lady I get!

Our Life is About to be Turned Upside-Down (In a good way)!

Well, I have been searching Petfinder.com for an adult male corgi for a while now, and last week I found one that sounded perfect. Well, we went to my parent's house for the weekend and we were going to visit the shelter while we were there since it was closer to their house than to ours. Once we got to my parent's house, I was so excited to show my mom the picture on Petfinder, so I opened up the internet, but I was very upset to find that he had just been adopted that day.

I have… Continue

Fuzzy Pillow

About 2 months ago we started letting Oppy sleep in bed with us. I was pretty against it at first because I'm a finicky sleeper and tend to roll around a lot. It was tough enough getting used to sleeping with another person, now add a dog that will just stare at you if you ask it to roll over. Despite my skepticism, he's done very well. He finds the spot between mine and Hilliary's feet and curls up down there not bothering either of us. Just 2 weeks or so ago he started doing something a… Continue

Socialization before shots?

When we took Bella to the vet for her shots, they told me not to begin socializing her in unfamiliar places until her shots her complete. Which is totally understandable, I wouldn't want little Bella to attract a deadly disease out in the open. But in that time when the vet told me not to take her out, I missed a very imporant time when I should have socialized her more. Now we have a 7 month old puppy who is terrified of other dogs due to the lack of socialization. I feel as if I should have… Continue

My little birthday girl

Today is Hannah's birthday, and she is now one year old! We haven't celebrated much as the weekdays are very busy, but we are going to have a mini party for her on Friday! I ordered her a dozen pupcakes from Four Muddy Paws earlier this week and will pick them up Friday on my way home from work. She's getting carob flavor with peanut butter icing. We'll be going to a friend's house for… Continue

Broken

So I'm sitting here on my computer playing around on Facebook when Ian starts yelling, "Momma, Momma!" I turn to look at him and ask, "What is it?" He points at a belly up, fast asleep Yumi then says, "Momma, Momma! Yumi broken!!" He then proceeds to pat her belly again (which usually wakes her up and is followed by her pouncing and licking all over him) but she is so comfy I guess that she is completely oblivious to his actions! It was sooooo funny, I wish I could've caught that one on camera… Continue

A new corgi.....

My girl friend saw Yoda growing up and get a "Corgi itch" needs to be scratched. She found a Corgi puppy at the local shelter. He is the sweetest little dog! We promptly named him Chewie. He was abandoned because he had 2 different color eyes. It is a Chinese superstition thing. We have been busy fattening him up and get all of the shots ready. Beside the different color eyes, Chewie also has a skin pigment issue, so his left eyelid is a little pink. Now, Yoda has a brother (younger by 1 month)… Continue

cat vs. cat and the dog's thoughts

My orange baby Walker was chasing our older cat Flossy around last night. Then he strolled into the living room with a big clump of her fur in his mouth! I couldn't even get a straight picture, I was laughing so hard.

Hold still, demon cat!

And KC's thoughts on the whole thing.…

Breeding

Whenever I mention Bella's heat cycle, my dad will suggest that we should breed her when she gets older. I can understand why he would want to breed Bella, she's just a joy for all of us and pretty soon I'll be moving out and taking both Bella and Gracie with me. I don't blame him for wanting a little Bella for himself when both me and Bella are gone. But I don't know... there are so many risks, expenses, and worries put into it... and so much time and effort. I know my dad has raised quite a… Continue
