Lucy caught a vole this morning at 5 am. The poor thing couldn't scramble away fast enough and Lucy being low to the ground and all... Ever tried to take a fresh kill out of a dog's mouth? Yes, even…Continue

Lucy's Growing Vocabulary

Started this discussion. Last reply by Appa and Iroh Jan 1, 2013. 17 Replies

In the past month or so Lucy has added to her ever growing vocabulary: different levels of growling. Does anyone else's Corgis do this? I find it pretty funny. She does it when she plays with her…Continue

Lucy Growling At Me

Started this discussion. Last reply by Bev Levy Oct 31, 2012. 3 Replies

As we all know Corgis can become quite stubborn and independent-minded and Lucy, at 18 months old, is no exception. But twice now Lucy has given me a level of sass that bothers me a lot and I am not…Continue

About Me:
I'm a Humanities teacher and Debate Coach, living in Concord, NH. I am a proud new owner (or she owns me!) of Lucy the Pembroke Welsh Corgi! She is a beautiful, sweet, peppy puppy!
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Lucy, now 10 months, is a chewer, not a barker, except when ignored by my two cats. She is all red along her back and the hint of sable there when she was younger is now dark red. But her chest and legs are white--typical Corgi markings. She'll eat anything and learns very quickly when there are hot dogs or cubes of cheese involved.
I have:

Lucy & Back Issue

Posted on March 2, 2013 at 7:48am 5 Comments

It's tough to accept as she is not quite 2 years old, but Lucy is having difficulty with her hind legs, weakness that makes it nearly impossible to go up a step or even walk. Had to take her to the vet who x-rayed her, though it did not show much. Given her symptoms and how she is walking, he believes it is some kind of disk problem--it just couldn't show up on the x-ray. She is on restricted rest and some meds. I am supposed to watch for "knuckling" that will indicate a decline and then I…

Naughty & Nice

Posted on August 17, 2012 at 12:18pm 2 Comments

Lucy is asserting her independence and her mischief by ignoring me completely when I call her. She will look up and right at me, pause, then bound off in another direction. Treats only work once, then after that the chase is on... She will come bounding back if I begin to walk away but never close enough for me to grab her collar to releash her. She will also come if I am with a friend and she or he calls her!! She doesn't mind the leash, but she has turned releashing her into a big chase…

Hi!  Thanks for the comment on Tuckers swipping video!!  My two don't know they are corgis with short legs....lol.  They both can get things off the counter if not pushed back far enough out of their reach!!   Tucker catapaulted himself from the floor to my computer desk without climbing on a chair first, I was so shocked!!  Thankfully hes only done that once. Another time he got himself on our kitchen chair which are pub style, so pretty tall for a corgi, right!?!?  Never under estimate the power of a corgi when it comes to food :)

Thanks for watching our videos! Bogart loves the camera, whereas our former Corgi Niblick would have a FIT every time the camera was in sight, barking and barking like it was a bomb about to detonate.

Obedience classes...how fun. We have done several over the years and Sage and I just finished her 3rd. Enjoy....it's fun to see how much they improve over time:)

She is a cutie- looks a lot like my Camden in coloring.
As for your concern about her eating things- I have the same problem. Trash is a big issue, as are pieces of mulch, pinecones, etc. As for grass and dirt, Camden does the same. Normally this isn't a problem, but pay close attention to what is in the dirt. I've had incidents that he wasn't eating grass, he had found rabbit droppings. Those kinds of things can lead to parasite problems (Camden had giardia) but worms could also be transferred by feces. You just have to be vigilant. Has she had a recent fecal sample done?
