Tall for a corgi?

I think Kota is way tall for a corgi. I have been looking at lots of the pics here and I don't think I have seen any as tall as him. He also has a curled tail. I was told he was a purebred when I got him. It wasn't from a breeder. A friend's friend's dog had pups. Do you think he might not be purebred? It doesn't really matter to me if he's not. I was just curious to see what other corgi owners thought. I have included some pics in this post of him standing. Thanks :D

He looks purebred to me. Not perfectly typey (neither's my boy), but who cares unless you're showing in conformation. How tall is he? His legs look a little long, but not terribly so. And the curled tail is quit typical in an undocked PWC.

I agree he looks like a Pem. Not a show-standard Pem, but a Pem nonetheless. The lack of depth in the chest and hindquarters can make the legs look even longer than they are. How tall is he (measured from the ground to top of shoulder)?

I definitely think he looks like a Pembroke - but maybe there was some spitz somewhere down the line? They have a foxy look like the corgi, a bit taller and with the curled tail.

Curled up tail is a trait for Spitz breeds like Chow and Huskie. Maybe the breeders here on this site can tell us if Corgis have curled up tail typically. From there you might be able to tell if he is a pure breed.

Supposedly the Pembrokes descended from northern spitz type dogs. He probably is just reverted back to that. He still looks like a pem and is very cute.

Corgis should stand 10-12 inches at the shoulders. He looks like a pem but mine all have the white tail tip(check out my page for pics) I can't tell if he does or not, his tail is a little more curled but like someone mentioned he could be a throwback of the Spitz. Whatever he is...he sure is cute and sometimes poorer breeding may bring out some things that aren't exact.But he sure has that cogi smile!

I have not measured him. I will do it when I go back home in a week or so. He does have the white tip in his tail. I didn't know that "the curled tail is quit typical in an undocked PWC". I had read a bit about the history of pems, but didn't see anything about the spitz part. That is interesting. I do see all the other traits of a corgi, just thought he looked a little tall.
