- Former elementary school teacher and now a family therapist - with a therapy dog in tow. Since I plan to continue to work with children, I know there's a lot of research out there about the effectiveness of the use of therapy animals in therapy sessions with children.

- I adopted a little one Halloween 2010 weekend after losing my beautiful girl River in mid-August 2010. New corgi is also a girl - she was born in the beginning of September and is growing fast! After much consideration I've decided to name her Luna.
Luna is an energetic little bunny hopper, who loves to play, especially with my nieces and nephew. She's very sweet and smart, and has taken to training well. She has already become a Canine Good Citizen, passed her therapy dog control test, and finished her supervised hours to become a therapy dog. We are currently conducting visits at various locations around San Diego. She also comes to work with me.
She's currently 2 years old.
I also adopted a 4-year-old corgi July 2011 who I've decided to name Twinkie. She'd been shaved, had icky teeth, is still a bit overweight, and needs training. All of that will take time to get to where I want her, but she is so sweet! Taking it one step at a time with her. She's so far lost 10 lbs, but we still have a way to go and has celebrated her 6th birthday.

Luna must have pissed Twinkie off while they were left alone on Friday. When I got back to my mother’s house Luna’s face was covered in blood and had three distinct puncture marks. Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about that. I'm glad everyone is doing alright now. It's so great that Luna is a therapy dog, especially with your line of work. You must be so proud of your little fur babies ;). I hope you get some time off soon to enjoy them even more!
