Hi Everyone! Algy is a 10 year old male pembroke. He's pretty active and has retained that 'puppy mentality'. He has ITP and some dry eye issues but is being treated successfully for both. We also had a 17 year old corgi mix that passed away last May. I look forward to talking to others with senior dogs who can give feedback on their experiences with our aging pals.

Yeah for Bunny!! That is wonderful re the lump.
I don't have experience with ramps but I am sure someone on MyCorgi does. Maybe you should post it in the health forum and see if people know anything about ramps, etc. Good luck! Joy and Butter

Hello Everyone,
Just an update on Bunny's lump on her mammory gland. We had it removed a week ago last Friday, and the vet called to say the pathologist indicated that it was benign and still encapsulated, no spread yet. Yahoo!!!!
We're still working on getting her ACL to heal, she's still sleeping at night in the crate next to my bed and limited activity. She goes back to the vet this Friday to have her stitches removed and her knee re-evaluated.
Does anyone have any experience with ramps or stairs inside the house for the couch or bed? I'm also looking at a ramp for the car so Bunny can get in and out easier.
I'm going to wait until her knee is better before we start training her how to use them, so have some time to build or buy them.

Thanks Joy, they do have some brochures in their waiting area and I'm considering those. This vet is the local 24-hour emergency vet hospital, and they've taken good care of my cats, etc. during the nights.
Bunny is now 8 and made it through heartworm treatments right after she came to live with us when she was 6.

Don't have any experience with Pet Insurance, sorry Cathi. How old is Bunny?
Just a thought, you should ask your vet's secretary/office person about it. They would see what bills are paid by insurance and may be able to recommend a company. Joy and Butter

Hi everyone! Dee Dee will turn 9 next April. She has had some issues with her hip/joint, but she's a pretty healthy lady! Nice to see owners with older Corgis!

Hello All -
Does anyone have any experience with pet health insurance? Now that we have Bunny, two indoor only cats and are thinking about adopting another corgi somewhere near Bunny's age, am wondering if it would make economic sense to get it.
Would appreciate any thoughts,
Cathi

Sorry to hear about Chester having diabetes. Do you mind if I ask how old he was when he got it? Is it hard to manage his blood sugars. Does being overweight contribute to dogs getting diabetes? worried about my own dog being at risk. Thanks for any info. Joy

Other than his diabetes, Chester is a wonderfully healthy Senior Corgi. He hasn't been very active in years, but still plays with his toys now and then, and will prance around with a new rawhide when he gets one.
