I noticed a spot on Billy's head this morning and took him to the vet, turns out the poor lil man has mange. He also has been fighting kennel cough which has led to an pnemonia ( i can't spell that) He was put on Ivermectin (amongst 3 antibiotics for the pnemonia) which can cause a lot of issues for him including neurological problems. This has postponed his vaccines and now he can not go to Puppy Kindergarten :( I just need my little man to be better he has not been healthy since the…

My person has lost her mind. There I was, on my walk minding my own business, ignoring a scruffy dog, when she started squealing and telling me what a "good girl" I am. Well, of course I'm a good girl! I'm the best, if I do say so myself. Normally I would have barked, growled, and lunged at the ruffian, but I had no interest in exerting that much energy so early in the morning. Instead, I glanced at him, and kept on walking. Always leave 'em drooling, I say. Such a small thing seems to be a…

After wrestling with the decision for several weeks, my fiance and I decided that it would be best for Chase to get him a muzzle, temporarily. This was a very very difficult decision for me because I do not like the idea of a muzzle at all!!
I feel like the worst mom on the planet, and a piece of me feels like this means I am giving up on Chase.
We decided that this would be best to keep Chase safe. We…

So the puppies are 3 weeks old today and for the last 3 days or so I've been giving them ebsilac on plates. They are able to lap now but I'm concerned that they aren't getting enough milk from mom and am thinking it's time to move to puppy mush.
Does anyone have experience at this? (I'm much better with kittens and homemade "glop") I've read such a variety of things from baby food (such as rice or oatmeal dry mixes) with esbilac to soggy/mushy puppy chow and water. I don't know if…

Waffle's birthday came and went and I didn't say anything! He was 3 on June 20th. It's been SO HOT so we've had a pretty lazy summer so far. My job search continues so I have very little to occupy myself with besides exercising and entertaining my dog. (And copious amounts of video gaming.) Anyways, here are some doodles... and then some real pictures.
True story:…

Well, my fellow agility classmates convinced me that I have to let Tucker try in the "real world" sooner or later. We've been going to class for about 9 months now. So, I've sent in my entry form for our first trial! We are going to be doing two classes at the Texas Agility-Shoot out, which is a non-sanctioned event benefitting canine cancer research. We're going to try a tunnel class and a jumpers class. I'm so nervous. I have a "naughty" dog that delights in seeing my exasperation, so…

Okay, I know most rescues make mistakes on dog breeds but they should know this is no dachshund/chihuahua mix!! This is a corgi plain and simple -_- Poor pup does not have rightful identification. She's quite skinny too :(

hi! walter, 3 mos old, is a great puppy!! he has a sweet disposition (most of the time ;) is crate trained & 90% potty trained (100% when i'm with him :) here are my 3 concerns:
1) he has taken to dig holes in various parts of the yard, mostly in dirt areas (not grass). i want to sprinkle the granuals to get him to stop. any other suggestions?
2) he still follows up too closely and nips at our ankles and feet. i read that you can take him, making no sounds, by the…

Ramji has a mysterious fever. He hasn't done anything out of the ordinary and he also doesnt have diarrhea. He does have a loss of appetite and is lethargic.
Took him to the vet yesterday, they did a fluid pack in his shoulders and got a shot of fever reducer. I checked his temperature throughout the night and it did go down through the night, it went down 104.5 to 103 to 102 but this morning, it shot back up to 104.7
I'm taking him back to the vet in a couple minutes to get…

After putting it off for a couple months, I finally entered Ace in the Cardiped database. :-) I believe it is a wonderful thing to keep track of who comes from where, and thanks to everything being digitized, it couldn't be easier. There is a truly comprehensive database available for Basenjis, my former breed, and I enjoyed the wealth of information at my fingertips.
In case any of you want a quick looksee, visit Ace's page here! …
ContinueAt what age did your dog start showing signs that he wanted to be let out for potyy or did you institute a method like a bell? So far I just been crate training and taking him outside every so often and he's been really good about going on command in the same spot, then today he did something he hasn't done --- he started to paw me and bark at me randomly...I assumed he wanted to play...then 45 secs after he pooped near his little bed (thank gawd there was a blanket on the carpet)..I said…

Zorro is officially 11 weeks old as of yesterday! I cannot believe we've had him for four weeks already! He has definitely become a part of our little family and we couldn't be happier :) He's doing well so far and haven't had too many problems. However, there are a few I would love your advice on!
-What is the cheapest most effective way to remove urine from carpet? He has an accident if we are not on top of him 24/7, which happens about once a day. For some reason he prefers…

Foxy is a certified Corgashian. He's like a Kardashian, only a corgi. So that makes him a Corgashian. He's treated like royalty, he's loved, fed, a few fans, such as people at the dog park, and the neighbors who just moved in, who happen to have a corgi too! The Vet just adores my little Corgashian. And, just like a Kardashian, Foxy doesn't do a whole like besides sitting there in the middle of a crowded area looking pretty taking in the attention.

Well it's been a while, hasn't it?! Foxy's the happy little Corgi again, his booty healed after being practically taken over by little bug bites. His booty fur is growing back too. Which, I must admit I am probably overly pleased with it growing back, because one of my favorite parts about him is that hamster looking corgi butt. Its really cute. All corgi butts are cute.
I on the other hand, have been busy with my job, first job. Pretty cool right?! and i'm only 14! Foxy sadly,…
