Questions about medication

Howdy all! I'm so glad drag is back to his old self again, after a long recovery for both of us.

Thanks for all your help and concerns. I love you guys!

Anyway i have a question about drags eating habits. He's eating double of what he usually eats. Do you think its from the medicine? He eats alot in the morning, which he used to never do. He usually always ate at 9pm and thats the only time he would eat, eventhough i left food out for him 24/7.

He is on… Continue

Attempt to Repeal Basil's Law

This was a blog post I was hoping I wouldn’t have to make. The story starts with losing my Basil three years ago. When I first joined my Corgi—I was one of the first 500 members—I blogged about losing Basil. Basil was my first Corgi and my best friend. On the day before Thanksgiving three years ago I took my two Corgis, Basil and Lizzie, our elderly black lab Golden retriever, Tess and our Leonberger, Rudy for a walk. It was a beautiful day. We live… Continue

Strong herding instinct!

I'd forgotten what it was like to have a baby with strong herding instincts! Beezie is a little over 7 months old and she is major into herding my mother's elderly dog. Thank heavens said old doggy is laid back and usually puts up with it!

Our first Corgi (Angharad - aka Annie) herded us to the bone box or to the door to go out but Beezie herds for the sheer joy of it. She sidles close to the "direct", swings her little bunny butt around and pushes from that way - whatever it takes… Continue

New Photos of Optimus!

We were so excited to finally be going back to the breeder to visit our puppy. Only 2 more weeks until we're able to bring him home with us! These are some adorable pictures of him and then a picture of two of his sisters.

Corgi Sharing Food - I'm Amazed!!!

So we hear a lot about Corgis begging, stealing food, barking for food, but how about a Corgi SHARING his food?? Mine does! I was watching television and here comes Caesar, pig ear on his mouth... he puts two front paws on the couch, leaves his pig ear on my belly, pushes with his nose and looks at me. I was amazed! I thanked him, pretended to bite it and gave it back to him with many praises. He went back to chew on it and about an hour later he did it again. I was amazed!!! My "treat obsessed… Continue

The beginning..

Stanley is our second family dog, but the first one I bought on my own. We had a Basset Hound named Chief, who passed away right before Christmas of 2006. He had a good 12 years. I started looking for Corgi's in February 2008. I found one at the local mall for $1500, he was adorable but a little too expensive. My dad's girlfriend at the time talked him in to saying yes, but to find a cheaper one. Oh hell yes i did my research. I saw a Corgi for way cheaper, but i was a little confused because… Continue

Vaccine reaction!!

When Ollie went for his 9 weeks shots on thursday, he had a reaction to the vaccine. About an hour after the shot, his face (around his eyes, and his muzzle) started to swell up. By time we arrived back at the vet, his face looked like it had been stung by bees. The vet gave him a steroid and some benadryl, and asked that we stayed until the swelling was gone. It quickly went away (about 15 min), and we were told that he would need benadryl before any shots in the future. Apart from that, our… Continue

Updates and upcoming

Well, I was informed by the animal control that there is a special mat that's at the entrance of the shelter filled with disinfectants that kills the parvo virus. So, Freya's diarrhea is from the olive oil. Yay.

I'm starting to switch her to Blue Buffalo puppy. It seems that she loves it more than the Avoderm. Our Weim even loves the Blue better too! He actually was protective of his food for once. They both seem to be doing well on it. Freya will be on half and half until all of the… Continue

Doggie Door

Can anyone give me an effective method for training my dogs to come back IN the dog door that goes from my porch to back yard???? They know what the door is, they know how to use it... they go out of it (to the backyard), yet they never figure out how to get back through.

Crazy corgis! Help?

Aggression on Leash

I need advice. My husband thinks I am over-reacting, but I think something needs to be done.

We adopted Ed in November. He is just over 1 year now and neutered. We've had Ein since July, he is just under a year and also neutered.

The boys have occasional issues in the house, probably about 5 fights a day. They fight over different things, attention, space, toys etc. We try to catch them if they are staring at each other and draw the attention away or spray the aggressor.… Continue

He Got Me Pretty Good....

So Caesar was impossible last night... but I take responsibility. He was so cute and we wrestled around, played tracking, played fetch, wrestled some more so he was W-I-R-E-D! By the time I was tired he was still on "go go go" mode. Then he started trying to have the couch as dinner. He got his first "leave it!", the second, on the third I went to give him a gentle smack on the muzzle when he turned his head at the same time. He didn't bite me, but my index did get stuck on his canine and when… Continue

Introducing... Aedyn!

Added by Todd on January 11, 2009 at 9:11am — 11 Comments

We are adding to our family.

Well we did it. I contacted the breeder about getting Dori's sister and she told me that she has decided to keep her so I thought oh well. And then she told me to come out and see her 4 new litter of puppies. So.....we are getting another corgi. He is a tri-colored male and is 3 weeks old. The breeder told me it is better to have a male and female than two females. Never heard that before but she knows a lot more about the breed then I do. We should have a new puppy in 5 weeks. So check back… Continue

Jack Knifed!

Yesterday was a nervous day for everyone...

Jack was neutered yesterday, and of course, he was not happy about the whole thing.

Everything went well, and he came through like a little champ. :) Until they put the Elizabethan collar on him... Ha ha. Jack threw a fit that would make an angry four year old child blush. We eventually took it off because he was just so miserable with it on. He refused to lay down with it on, and fell asleep in his room standing up. I… Continue

If You Have Some Time on Your Hands!

This game was recommended to me by Caesar's trainer and he loves it.

Let your puppy know that you are playing that specific game. I tell Caesar "Let's Track!" and immediately go in the kitchen. I pick up his treats and repeat "Let's Track!" Then I procede to put Caesar on a "sit" and "wait" (you probably would use "stay" but I screwed up and taught him with the wrong command. I let him wait while I hide treats (that was THE harder part to teach him but with time and patience it's… Continue

The BEST Toy for Corgis!!!!

I read about this ball that was recommended for herding breeds. It made sounds when bouncing or rolling causing the herding instinct to kick in and have them chase it and corner it. Me being the curious mommy I am decided to take a look at it for Caesar. Since he needed to go to the vet for booster shots I went to talk to a salesperson about it. He did not hear about the ball being great for herding dogs but I decided to give it a try. No, the ball is not good... it's pretty freaking… Continue

Getting REALLY Pissed at Puppy Pad Routine

Ok so I am in serious economical budget cuts and Caesar picked up the worst time to be a brat. His new thing is to destroy puppy pads. Now the dog plays scavenger hunt everyday, has a gazillion toys but no.... his thing is to destroy the puppy pad and then pee wherever the puppy pad was before. Love him.... trying not to kill him now. I literally just changed his pad, grabbed a bite and came back to find it in pieces. So now he's grounded.

Just needed to vent....

Olive's Losing her Womanhood Today

My poor baby had to get spayed today. I dropped her off at the vet at 8am this morning, and can't pick her up until tomorrow after work. :( She was so scared when we got there, too. She wanted to escape. But she was still a good girl. She sat when I told her to and just waited patiently while I filled out our paperwork. What a good girl. I miss her already. I get to call soon and see how the procedure went. I'm a bit nervous. Things CAN go wrong, after all. I'm very worrysome. I hope I'm just… Continue
