Naw, just kidding.
Spore came out, so Didi and I have been playing a whole lot of it. Yesterday I tore myself away from it long enough to take her to the dog park where she got to play with a little beagle. Usually she fence-hugs when we're there, or makes the rounds to all the people, but this time she got a lot of running in behind that beagle.
On the way home I got her a 24" bully stick, which should keep her well occupied while I lose myself in the spore universe…

Ok so, Didi and I were playing fetch on the driveway. I threw the ball and it went behind my car so that Didi had to go on the other side where I couldn't see her. Just as she went around the side, a motor cycle passed. She burst back into view barking and with her fur all sticking up.
I thought that the motorcycle sound bounced off the garage and sounded like it was coming from inside and startled her. I made her come to me and sit-stay while I went to go get the ball. As I was walking to…

Poor Didi had to have a flea bath today. She was very unhappy. She smells super clean though, and all the fleas that got on her when she was playing in the sand pit have fallen off, so it was worth it.
I've been sick the whole week so the puppy hasn't had any walks or park visits. She hasn't even gotten to go in the car while I made errands. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be feeling a lot better and we'll make it to the dog park.

I remember seeing someone talk about soapless shampoo on here. I don't remember who. Most soapless shampoos are made of chemicals and aren't "real" soap. They have a lot of slip and don't leave residue, but they're also not very natural and can be kind of harsh on our furry ones.
Here's a recipe for soapless shampoo. It won't get soapsy or lathery, but it'll get your puppy as soft and clean as anything.
1 cup sulfonated castor oil
1 tbsp glycerin
1 tbsp mineral…

So as I awoke from my morning nap I remembered that Didi had not been fed yet. I go to feed her and find myself scraping the bottom of her food-container. Yippees.
On my way to Petco, with Didi in co-pilot position, I stop at Starbucks for a tea. This is a drive through starbucks so all the Barristas came to lean out the window and go, "Aaaaww... puppy!". Didi sat in her co-pilot seat and regarded them with a silent dignity. This silent dignity flew out the window when one of the girls…

We've had nowhere near the weather that those enduring Fay have experienced, but our weather has been pretty drizzly and awful. Poor Didi hasn't had a walk or a run or a dog park visit since last week. She's been telling us all about it with her barking, her increased frapping, and her constantly baiting the cats. Poor little thing.
I'm hoping I can get her down to the dogpark tomorrow or the day after. It's not so much that she gets muddy... she hates the water, it's that she gets…

Today I took Didi to the neighbors house. They have two daughters and they both adore Didi, so I try to bring her around every once in awhile.
I was so proud. She ran around with them at their heels without trying to bite or nip at them. She didn't get mouthy at all! The little one was a little rough petting her (she was more of the "patting" type then the "stroking" type.) but my little trooper took it all in stride. She looked so wistful when it was time to go. I can tell she made a good…

My boyfriend's sister is into touchy queery natural foods, so she bought his cat a bunch of different foods to try out. Bag after bag and can after can. I don't mind it, but two cans were Nutro brand. That's quality food right there...
My kitties don't eat canned food but since my boyfriend had decided... which one his cat liked best, there was surplus cat foods to contend with. I took a few cans to take to animal control, since those kitties are always wanting, and I took one to give the…

Didi has started a new bizarre behavior. If I don't pay attention to her when she eats, she'll pick out the nommie bits and leave all the plain adult food kibble (i've started mixing it with her puppy food) in a neat pile next to her bowl.
If I watch her and she starts to place it, I say "ahah!" and she looks at me in surprise and chews it up and eats it.
I'm pretty sure that she thinks I'm stupid or something.... I may be compared to a corgi.

Didi and I have been trying out clicker training, (As per Sylvia & Timmy's advice) and it's been going very well. It's nice to be able to have her know exactly what she's being rewarded for. It can be find of difficult to get her to figure out if she's being rewarded for sitting,, looking at me, or just getting cookies because mommy likes her. Now she knows that clicker means "correct!" and she's a lot less confused. Before when she got confused she'd just start going through different…

Didi's only 9 months old, but she's gotten intolerant of male puppies. She's ok (if a little timid) around most dogs at the dog part; she loves white pitbulls and boston terriers, but there's something about male puppies that makes her really scared. She tucks her butt in and tries to get away from them and finally, if they don't leave her around, she stripes, snarls and barks at them. (She has a really shrill, girly bark.)
I'm not sure if I should try to stop this, or if I should let her…

Didi has been spending the last few days learning new door manners.
Whenever someone comes to the door, she gets to sit by the pillar in the foyer. She doesn't like this at all. She tries to look away from me and creep towards the door (and the people coming through it) like I don't see her. Or she army crawls toward the door, with her feet on the rug she's supposed to be at, like she's trying to steal home or something.
On the bright side, now when the doorbell rings, she runs…

Didi is getting spoiled today because Petco has this sale where if you buy a 6-10lb bag of Wellness, you get 4 free cans of dogfood. Today Venison and Sweet Potato is mixed in with her delicious foods.
Needless to say, today we did not have any issues with getting her to eat dinner. She wolfed it down like nobody's business, and was even polite enough to give a belch afterwards. Don't eat so fast puppet.
I took her to the dogpark today but it was way too hot so no one showed up. We…

My father has Alzheimer's, and I was hoping that my corgi would bond with him so that when my mom and I have to be gone, my dad has company. He sometimes gets confused with the TV and gets 'lost' as to what to do.
One problem, my dad wants the dog to sit with him in a wierd sort of upright position. I can't explain to him why the dog doesnt want to do this, but now the dog avoids him and he asserts that she doesn't like him.
Is there a way that I can get the dog to tolerate this, at…

The new feeding regime is working. Didi gets either her Wellness mixed with wet food (she gets a half-can and a half cup split between two meals), or mixed with unsalted, unseasoned broth (i cook alot so i have load of this around). We sit with the bowl for 10 minutes, no playing or pettings or toys or walking off to lie down. So far she's eaten her food every time. Eating beats the hell out of being bored!
This weekend I took her to my boyfriend's house to play with his Norfolk…

I go through a lot of trouble to have a good puppy. I got her at a time when I knew I'd have several weeks free to be with her and train her, I am very diligent about being consistent and about her leash training. I want, and have, a good dog, through work.
I get REALLY annoyed when I am walking my puppy down the sidewalk (her on my right, walking just beside me) and someone with a dog (usually several) on a stretchy leash is coming on. They pull all their dogs to the side, pull them up,…

Holy Canolli!
I went to the store to buy bully sticks because I'd heard people raving about them.
My Corgi puppy, who plows through nylabones in 20 minutes or less, massacres greenies (which then massacre her insides), has demolished every dentabone and busy bone known to man, has been working on this bully stick for the past hour and a half and has not even gotten an inch in.
She was a little wary of the new taste at first, but I put a pinky smear of peanut butter on it first…

Today I was petting my Corgi and looking at her skin, since we've been having some food allergy issues with her I've been on the look out for scabby patches or flaky spots, and what did I find? Argh!! A flea!
I thought, "Well, She's on Sentinel, she probably just picked one up at the Dog Park. No big deal." And I smooshed it.
I continued on my look over and near her butt fluff, I find another flea. Agh! Smoosh.
I JUST gave her the Sentinel, so I go over and read the box. It says…

Man, my poor puppy was so sick off these Green chewables the other day. I tried to give it to her and she turned up her nose to it. I should have taken her advice because she's a corgi (and thus knows everything), but I put some peanut butter on it and coaxed her to chew it.
She worked on it during the course of the day, and by the end she was having soft poops of a vibrant green. She was very unhappy, as was I at having to wipe green poop off of her stubby butt.
NEVAR AGAIN.
