I am looking at our little pup, Hazel. He is 4.5 months going on 5 months next week and weights about 20lbs. I do not have the measurements for his mom and dad but mom is definitely a bigger corgi and dad is medium sized. I've included some photos below for reference. The reason for my post is I am concerned with his growth rate. Is he growing too quickly for the breed? If he is, what stress is being put on his little joints that could lead to spine and joint problems including hip dysplasia…

Sooo... the American Kennel Club has been importuning me to purchase any number of services and products for Ruby-Doo the Corgi Pup, even though sometime in the next five or six months she will be spayed, and even though the rankest amateur can see at a glance that she is not, repeat NOT, a show-quality corgi. And that is even though pup's registration papers distinctly state "OFFSPRING OF THIS DOG NOT ELIGIBLE FOR REGISTRATION."
In addition to …

Here is what I learned from yesterday's interior painting...1.) Oil based paint fumes are toxic to animals. I thought I would have to take Amy to the emergency vet with neurological and emotional distress. 2.) The burners on your gas stove burn the paint fumes and turn them into something that smells like kerosene and makes you think you are about to die. 3.) Corgis are like furry cockroaches and none of the above…

Where to start?
Well, since I last came by MyCorgi.com, Spider had a bout with lyme disease which was successfully treated and was pretty healthy and happy until late last December, when he stopped eating for several days before becoming violently ill.
I had made an appointment to take him in the next morning due to his decreased appetite but ended up rushing him to a 24 hour emergency vet hospital after I discovered how sick he'd been (all over the room and…
ContinueWe had a little emergency trip to the vet last night after a wild frap session resulted in a hurt leg ;-< Chewey was frapping through the house and out the backdoor just as someone was coming in and he bounced off the door and into some patio furniture. I guess he must have caught his back leg along the way because he let out some blood-curdling cries for several minutes and then wouldn't put any weight on his leg...;-/p>
So, rather than second guess myself all…

We just got home from a last minute trip to the vet. I had called Wynn in from outside where he had been for several hours enjoying the 70 degree temps and the sun. He couldn't get up and his leg was looking funny so I knew it was his back or leg. Somehow he made it to the car when I went in to get something and I lifted him in. After several times of checking his spine and legs the vet told me it was his back and to "hold his head and upper body tight. The vet moved his legs and hips every…

I have to share this product with you guys! I believe it was a huge factor to my girl's quick recovery from an dog attack that landed her in ICU for 2 days and in a cone and rest for 3 weeks. The images of the injury are pretty graphic so here's the link https://picasaweb.google.com/114496480725773812681/November12011?authuser=0&feat=directlink 2 vets told us she would need…

Boo Boo the Bear isn't our first dog; but he is our first Corgi. We had a cocker spaniel & a scotty terrier, Ripley & Toby respectively.
I was unaware of the flea medications out there with Rips and Tobers so the inevitable happened, and I had a flea infestation in my house. OMG! the cost was horrid... I think I spent almost $1000 trying to get rid of them that summer.
Now I'm wiser and started using frontline plus, but I've read in my consumer…

Hi,
I have a corgi puppy that is about to turn a year old and he is also my first dog.
I'm thinking about getting pet health insurance for him but am not sure how to start or which one to take. Since when I googled it there were so many options I got a little overwhelmed.
Plus, I have been told my some that it is not necessary for pet insurance until they are much older, but am not really sure what to do here.
Anyone have advice for me please?

Just a reminder to keep our furry friends safe:)
Common Picnic Poisons
Lastly, for you picnickers, make sure to keep common household picnic items out of reach when with your pets. Every day the Pet Poison Helpline receives many calls about pets getting into people food, some of which can be remarkably harmful.

Well, we haven't had to worry about a corgi with cuts of any kind for at least 4 years! Lucky has been crippled, and when we rescued Sonny a year ago, he just kinda stayed under the desk for a couple of months and then right with us. Well...he discovered the large rocks on the South side of the front yard a couple months ago and likes to climb them, and he climbs around all over the place now. Today we discover blood on his neck, doessn't appear to be a puncture wound or to have come from…
