usually the masses are just old age... but it is ALWAYS best to get them looked at by your vet. They are very VERY common in pure bred dogs... I work at a doggy daycare and we see them quite a bit with the older ones coming in for grooming.


****** On a second note--- What does everyone feed their dogs?? I have my three on Wellness and they LOVE it! But what does everyone think of the Holistic vs Grain Free vs raw diet????

My 10 year old corgi, Sparty, also has a fatty mass under the skin. Our standard poodle had a lot of them. He lived until 18. Your vet should check it at his regular visits. Usually they are nothing to worry about. I have one on my arm too so I guess I am getting older too!!

Hello everyone. This is Petie- he is 13, will be 14 in August. He is the very best dog I have ever had. I obsess about his age. He seems healthy, and still plays with my other dog. He gets joint supplements and Senior food, an occasional Remadyl when he seems gimpy. It's very hard to keep his weight down. He is developing lipomas, small fatty masses under the skin. Does anyone elses dog have these?

For Momo - 30 lbs. doesn't seem too heavy for a male, but can you feel his ribs? He appears very active based on your photos and videos :-) Ask the vet why he thinks Momo is overweight next time you're in. It's always better to keep a corgi on the thinner side, but is quite a challenge once they grow older and are less likely to be as active. Take care...

My older two are 7 and aside from daily benedryl in the spring and summer and their new hip and joint supplement with fish oil they are still fiesty... but they also get plenty of excersize at daycare and and worked really hard to not let them get overweight..... They are also on really good holistic food that they LOVE!

Hello.
I have 8-yr-old Yorkshire Terrier and 7-yr-old Corgi.
Gauli has a dislocation problem of patella.
and sometimes Momo has a pain on his shoulder joint.
I give him fish oil & Glucosamine supplement everyday.. It's been 2 yrs already.
Vet said there is no problem on his shoulder and suggested reduce his weight.
Momo's 30 lbs. now and I don't think he is too fat. Do you think he is fat? Maybe I'm worrying too much but I want them get better.

Sparty, the tri is ten. So far he is as spunky as ever but rarely jumps on the couch anymore. He is relatively healthy in spite of allergies and arthritis. He is still my "baby dog"

Kylie the red female in the pic is 12yrs. She began to rapidly develop signs of DM last fall and it has progressed very fast. Anyone have any suggestions my vet is running out of options. He has admired Corgis for years but mine are his only patients.

Thanks Joy and Baby Butter, we're very happy about Bunny's lump. Have started her on the Glucosomine etc. and Canidae food & veggies.
She's always on the prowl for something to eat and we give her attentions and play time instead. She's enjoying the walks and rolls in the grass again.
