There is one thing I still have to do, and I have been putting it off. Stinky Wink's collar and leash are still hanging on the hanger with my coat in the closet next to the front door. That seems the hardest thing to do--even more than picking up the toys, for some reason. He loved walkies SO much. I plan to use the leash for baby; that seems like a nice continuity. But Wink's collar will be retired, and put with the other things of his that I am keeping in a memory box. He only had one…

I hope to never have another day like yesterday. It all started with Kadi vomiting. It went from bad to worse after that. My elderly mother, who is staying in our living room while her house is being built, woke up terribly confused, not making much sense with what she said. Kadi's vomiting increased and my mom's confusion did, as well.
Finally I decided I had no choice--I called my husband and asked him to leave work to help me with all the 'patients'. We put Brodie in the basement…

Foxy is limping! :O I don't know why.. I'm worried. I love him so much and I hate the idea of his little corgi foot in pain!

Yay first blog post on here.
I think I found my "dream corgi" today. Except... he's in the Netherlands. Haha. Literally half the world away. And I'm still unsure whether I should get a puppy right now. Though, my birthday is coming up at the end of the month... Maybe I can convince my parents to get me a puppy for my birthday. Haha. When I half jokingly mentioned it to my mom on the phone the other day, she actually said "maybe". That's something I never thought I would…

We have been working hard at training, both through classes at a local store and with the help of videos. We have mixed emotions about the class, as Auggie has a very definite opinion about one of the other students in the class - a young male pit bull that he just doesn't like. For him, the video seems to be more effective. I will post a photo of him, watching it. I assume the dog is supposed to learn directly from the video, right? :)
After all, it is his favorite…

One of Stinky Wink's favorite games (until about the last month of his life) was tug of war. He would play that with any toy that was big enough for both of us to hold. There was one toy especially, which had a "handle" on it. I would hold the handle and he would get the bigger part in his mouth. I was always amazed at what a strong little booger he was. He would plant those back legs and there was no moving him! I was inevitably the first to "give in." From the first day, he loved to…

It's true. Today, since about 10am, it's been an entire month that Twixle has been with us!:D He is currently celebrating with a nap:P
Earlier he got a couple apple chunks with peanut butter on them for a congratulations! I'm very excited to have made it to this point. I didn't think that it would feel so awesome to count off days, but it does.. Wow, how time flies, I could swear it was no more than a week ago! Though, sometimes I will admit, it feels like it's been forever-it's just…

The other day I mentioned Suzanne Clothier's book, Bones Would Rain from the Sky. I'm still reading it. It's not a fast read because everything she says is so important; it's impossible to scan. In Chapter 5, "Walks With Dogs," she says, "We are, at every step, together, without the need for words, bound by the heart's invisible leash, unmistakably connected." I believe that everyone who loves a dog feels that...as do the dogs we love. Dogs are great at sensing what we are…

So I've had puppy for 5 days now, he still has no name. Today my favorites are: Crash, Dyson, Ditto, or Kirby. Crash because he is clumsy as all get out, Ditto because he mimics Franklin's every move, Dyson or Kirby because he is a little corgi vacuum and his future shedding will likely keep one or both of those companies in business.
He has been SUCH a good boy so far! He does chew/shred stuff if not being watched. The other day I was studying in the living room and he was…

There are little daily things where Wink and I were so connected that they seem incomplete now. Since he was just a puppy, we had a shower game. When I got ready to shower, he would run for a toy, and I would toss it across the room. He would go after it and then sit patiently by the shower, waiting for me to come out. The next big event was the hair dryer, which he cursed at loudly. That was our shower routine! Then we moved to the house where we are now. He liked this house because it…

This is in the blog section b/c it's not a huge concern or a problem, just something I noticed:
Do you ever notice that your corgi sheds most in certain areas? Scout sheds most at the top of her hind legs / hip area. If it wasn't for that area, she would prob only shed 1/3 as much.
She got a bath and brushing yesterday (starting to get that corn chip smell...wierd but true) and I had plenty of time to think about it while I was brushing (a good 1/2 hour or more) Neighbors…

Bad news: Welllllllllll, yesterday was THE WORST WALK EVER. The Twixter fought me the entire time, wanted to walk on the street instead of the sidewalk and even WOULD NOT stay on the inside of the sidewalk when he was on the sidewalk. He was being such a brat, I nearly cried in frustration. (I know, dogs go off of our body language-but trust me, I was in a happy mood before he started acting out, and my body language was saying so, I made sure of it. Head held high, good posture, calm but…

I've had my little Franklin for about 4 months now. He gets a little red zone sometimes when we tell him "no" or just now when I started brushing him. He turns from this sweet loving pup and he will bite my hands and bark and growl.
So far the way I've dealt with it is by saying "No bite", I grab his bottom jaw and will give him a time-out in a bathroom. When I got him back out today he seemed really sad and we had a little chat and made-up, I guess I just worry that not all…

Hi everyone,
I'm interested in getting a corgi once I'm done with school. Most likely at the beginning of next year but I want to research different breeders ahead of time. Could anybody let me know where you got your corgi (if in southern or northern california). Has anybody also gotten their corgi from rockstar-corgis.net? Are they reputable? All the help is appreciated.
-Samantha.

For some reason last night was not a good one. It seems like every time my wife is away and I go to the store, coming home sets off a chain reaction. I know that no one is there, the tv is not on, most likely the house will be dark, and no wiggle butt greeting me. Then, as I get closer to home, I see our major walk route, the bush where Stinky Wink would stick his entire head inside, and a thousand other little reminders that we will not be walking later. By the…

Hi everyone,
I'm Heidi, and my 9 month old Corgi is Foxie. I've had her for almost 2 months. She is very energetic and good-natured to everyone with the exception of my cat, Garfield. Initially Foxie was very scared of him, and wouldn't even look at him but just whimper. Garfield the cat wasn't welcoming and kind of creeped around her for a little while. He's not that interested in her anymore, except if she's blocking his was to the courtyard where he likes to sit. I got her a baby…

Well, nothing happened yet again, very busy with play practices and homework. Foxy just seems... yet again, lazy. He seems to really enjoy the coolish air here. He likes cold. He could sit for hours in the snow... but there is no snow at the moment. but still.

My 3 year old male Corgi body slammed a Chow dog on our beach walk today to keep the Chow from attacking our terrier shelter dog. I've never seen such a brave Corgi! The Chow was obviously twice his size, mean and should have been on a leash. Rocky had to "catch air" to knock the Chow down. The Chow ended up doing a body roll which gave me enough time to pick up my terrier... AMAZING! Rocky is my SUPER HERO!! Maybe I should buy him a super hero cape to wear around the neighborhood!!
