My 3 month old Puppy is a mess.
Hes name is Ace and he is either sleeping fighting with hes brother( his brother is a cat and they PLAY fight always) or chewing on his toys. sounds normal right? Well he is sooo smart he is dumb. i mean that in the nicest way possible. Well everyone that me and ace met always say ace is small for hes age. which i was a little worried about, at the vet i brought it up. they said it was no problem. but training him is soo difficult. i enrolled him into…

So Jon has been away all day and it's been a pretty good quiet day. Well we made up a schedule of doing a morning, afternoon, and an evening walk session with Dodger. We always stop at the little dog park in our neighborhood and usually when we take him out it's pretty peaceful (he's only made three dog friends that I allow him near since they're up to date on their shots as well as Dodger). We were on our evening walk and stopped in at the little dog park (I keep Dodger on leash at all…

Becca had her herding instinct test and first lesson today. We went to Little Dove Farm in Appleton, Maine. A friend from agility class went with her aussie as well. It was very comprehensive. Suzanne began with a lesson with us (handlers) using one of her dogs for example. She cut three dog trained sheep out of the flock. Explaining what she was doing and what should be expected of the dog.
Then she worked with each of our dogs in a 30x30 pen. The dogs were on a long leash giving her…
ContinueSo Nemo has been a dream when it comes to house training. We have only had a handful of accidents and they were all because I was slow reading the signs.
In my own defense his signs can be a little vague. Usually he sits in front of the door and sometimes he will bark. But he also likes to sit in front of the door even if he doesn't have to go out, particularly at night when he can watch the bugs.
To help make his signals more obvious, we hung a cow bell on…

Hi all well we have been in our new house just under 2 weeks Paul took some photo's of Oscar in the dining room and I took one of them all on the new observation deck with the view back to Sydney behind them!. Paul was painting the deck as the old owners ran out of time to paint it for us at least they finished it for us before we moved in. There is a lot of work to do as the owners left the house and gardens in a terrible state mess every where and the gardens will need a lot of work to get…

HI all,
I've successfully trained Walnut to use the dog potty everytime he pee and poop as well. But he has this habit, whenever the potty is contaminated with poop, he will not use it anymore. Is this common?
Both myself and husband work from morning till evening. We have an automatic feeder (with timer) to feed Walnut on set time. We do not have problem walking him out in the morning and evening. But the problem occurs during his lunch, where he is left alone. Once he…

Need help naming the new feller from the shelter. His name may have been Rockefeller at his old owner's but you would never know it. He does not respond to it or any shorting of it. He has a longer thinner face than Butters and is a copper red. He looks like a fox or a small short collie. He still has not shown his real self to us as he slept most of the three days we have had him. He is supper protective of the orphan kittens we are bottle feeding when one cries he runs to their box. …

Well for the 1,000th time, I've tripped over Bella. But this time dropping my plate of scrambled eggs, toast, and bacon...i'm starting to think she's doing it because it's funny. Well, she got what she wanted, a plate of human food.
Ever since she was a pup we'd been tripping over her long hotdoggy body. I mean it used to be just a stumble and a laugh, but as she got older/bigger its been a fall and an ouch. It's sorta funny how obnoxious she is on having to wedge herself in between…

Every night that we are home, Nemo's routine is more or less the same.
7 pm: Raise hell and get into just as much trouble as possible.
8/9 pm: Collapse in heap while mom and dad watch TV.
11 pm: Resist all of mom and dad's attempts to wake me up and take me out for a pre-bed pee. Yawn and roll over. Lay on back and moan. Repeat for at least 5 minutes or until picked up and carried outside.…

It finally happened this morning. Ellie got underfoot, and I stepped on her. She was pulling on her leash trying to get to some other dogs on a walk too, and she switched sides on me while I was in mid-step. Thinking about her scream makes me want to cry.
I think she's okay. I stepped on her toes with the side of my shoe. I heard a cracking type sound when it happened, but I think it was only her nails on the blacktop. She's not limping and it didn't seem to hurt her when I…

Yesterday a friend called me to say a 1 year old Corgi was turned in at the shelter and there was no room in the adoption room so he would be left in a cage until his turn came up or he was pulled by a rescue within a few weeks. This is a kill shelter. The man that turned him in said he was a breeder. My friend told me the little boy was very timid but was not aggressive. My daughter was there when they opened and I paid the adoption fee. We will get him from the vet tomorrow,
His name…

I am sharing this post which was on my Facebook page this morning. It's long, but worth reading.
For those of you who wondered what the outcome was for the Husky (hybrid?) that Cesar strung up on his TV show (and was bitten for his efforts, thank you very much). From a Facebook friend:
I stumbled across this response from Shadow's original foster dad who ended up adopting Shadow after he was absolutely tortured on the episode mentioned in…

So I put Dodger's puppy bed in the wash since we found fleas on him and the entire thing got shredded. I did exactly what the washing instructions said and the thing got shredded. Is there any brand of dog bed that you like best?

Our sweet little Dodger has been having a rough day today. It started out pretty good or so I had thought. Within less than an hour it went SPLAT. First, Dodger became very confused when Jonathan decided to switch his routine (bad idea, the ninny) by not letting him go out onto the balcony anymore, but switching him to being hooked on a leash and walked around the neighborhood. He didn't like the harness (threw a huge fit acting like it was the worst invention ever), but slowly adjusted to…
