First Alert Ultrasonic Bark Control

So something that I never knew before getting my corgi, is that they are barkers! And for the first 8 months or so of owning him, it never crossed my mind in the fact my boy Chubbs barely barked at all.

Well that sure took a sharp turn when we moved into an apartment with 2 more canines -ones that like to bark at every sound they hear in the hallway and every knock on the door (though this is for their owners benefit somewhat in that she is deaf so the jump up barking and run to the…

A Beautiful Goodbye

While not Corgwn related, I had to share this with everyone. It's a families last day with their furbaby.

Having just lost Ein, this was doubly touching for me. The Onion Ninja's totally won as well.

Missing Ruby-Doo...

{sob!} Ruby the Corgi is at the vet's, recovering from this morning's spay surgery. Who would think the little pesker would be so missed during such a short absence?

Cassie has been moping about all day (though just now she remembered that the Purpose of Ball is to keep the human busy. Constantly). Luz the Cleaning Lady…

Occasional Destruction

So like every 2-3 months McCoy tear the hell out of something when I leave. Its not like me leaving is something new, and I am never gone long. I have anywhere from 2-4 Drs. appointments a week for various things. Then I usually come right home, and its been like this since I have adopted him. 90% of the time he is fine and just sleeps, but the other 10% he tears the carpet, tries to chew through the gate, chews the linoleum, etc. I'm not leaving any differently than I do any other…

Chafing

Hi all;

Boris is about two years old we live in DC and this summer have noticed a little chafing under his front underarms. the first time we noticed we called the vet and they said to apply a little neosporeun to it, which seemed to help. We recently left him with our friends for the weekend and noticed that it has come back a little worse. To make a long story short is there anyone else who has noticed chafing or experienced this with their corgi before? what did they use as…

bland diet

From time to time Tucker has tummy troubles.  I'm preparing packets of chicken and rice that I can freeze for when he does have problems.  My question is: how much to put in each packet?

He usually eats between 1/2 and 2 cups of kibble (Taste of the Wild) every day (he isn't a consistent eater) offered twice a day.  He gets 1 green bean per feeding (he doesn't need to watch his weight).  He gets a fish oil capsule at night along with his medications for his leg (long story) which are…

Tucker the Dock Diving Corgi

Tucker has always taken a liking to water, despite the fact that he really can't swim very well. This spring we went for our first dock diving class, where he showed up a bunch of weenie labs by bravely jumping off the dock and into the deep unknown. I took him today to another class where he showed great enthusiasm for the "game"! And so, we are going to enter our first dock diving trial in two weeks-- wish…

Giardia... still! Angst!

It has been a few mixed days with little Rory Fluffypants. He had a tough time at the vet (which was weird because he was a perfect angel last time), and his labs came back worm free again but also with Giardia again. ARRRRGGGG! Are we ever going to get rid of this stuff?

We're doing Panacur again (which I will try to mix into one of those doughy pill pockets and give as a treat to avoid picky eater issues) + one other med that I can't remember off the top of my head (going to pick…

fireworks

The fireworks have started already.  This year, Tucker is scared.  He's clingy and if I'm not available he hides in  a corner.  The thundershirt helps a little.  Any other suggestions to help him stop crying and feel less scared?

So much for the "parvo"...

Ruby has survived the implied "parvo" infection and lived to thrive another day. For hevvinsake.

Here she is engaged in a great mock "fight" with Charley the Golden Retriever. The fact that he's at least five times bigger than she doesn't seem to faze her!

Her chronic…

Corgi Events, World Cup, and Dog Scouts! Oh my!

So Ruby and I attended the Midwest Corgi Picnic. It was fantastic! We had a great time. Ruby competed in the fun match and I was so proud of her. She had some issues with the table but other than that she was great!  I think we may do some more fun matches in the future.

We also went to Pet Pride with a good friend and we had a great time. Ruby even go a spray on tattoo of an anchor. Petsmart was doing them and it was free so why not! We got a ton of free stuff and I bought Ruby a…

Watson .....the saga continues

Watson is now 5 months old. He has been so much fun! He is smart, silly, loving and at times wild. He loves Izzy and they play often. It is great to see her having so much fun. He passed Puppy Class with flying colors but we are still working on stopping him from barking at other dogs and overly enthusiastically greeting people. I think he is still a little frightened of strange dogs and after he matures may be better at that. We are getting ready for a month long trip with our RV so I think…

Borrowed time

I'd like to think I'm not a stupid guy, but I did have some sense of denial even though I knew the truth of it.

While Ein's surgery was successful, it seems the tumor has grown back.

Last Tuesday I noticed a "hollow" noise as Ein would breath through his nose and by Friday, it was sounding more congested. We took him to the vet and they gave us Clavamox hoping it was just an infection since he's on prednisone.

This morning, he is getting almost…

Parvo? REALLY?

So yesterday afternoon I took Ruby to a vet in town who keeps 7-day-a-week hours -- not an "emergency" vet of the sort who charges $200 for you to walk in the door, but a regular veterinary practice. They have a bunch of vets and operate a kind of veterinary factory, but they at least are vets.

She still had diarrhea, and yesterday (Sunday, naturally) she barfed up all the food I gave her. The food was bland diet: chicken and rice.

After we waited…

He bit me. Now what.

So this is a first. My dog bit me. Everything was calm on my end, and everything seemed calm on his end.

I was trying to put him outside for when my fiance came home so my fiance could come in and take off him shoes and stuff and not be jumped on (we are working on down right now and I wasn't particularly feeling well enough to do the training, my back still hurts, and I am passing a 7+mm kidney stone). I called him to come to the back door, he didn't move so I moved a little closer…
