Today was a beautiful autumn day here in San Diego...meaning it was NOT sweltering hot, and a nice breeze was blowing, so we tried a new hiking trail today. It is called "Piedras Pintadas", which means "painted rocks" and winds through former Kumeyaay Indian grounds. There was a creek, a waterfall, informative sign boards and a nice view of the lake.
We took SIdney and Bruce, who is 14. I was a little worried about bringing Bruce due to his advanced age, but he plugged along like a…

This was shared here before but it is so good I think it bears repeating. I found it at the Golden Gate Pembroke Welsh Corgi Fanciers website (http://www.goldengatecorgis.org/articles/truth_article.htm):

THE PEMBROKE WELSH CORGI

… I hear and read what people say about Corgis. It is clear that we are adored — as we should be — but there are many misconceptions that need…

Today was the big day; our first visit to a facility after passing the Therapy dog exam. My daughter was nervous (she's Sidney's handler) and Sidney was just excited to be going out for a ride!
In our group was a standard poodle, a toy poodle and a cockapoo. Our first stop was an activity room for patients with memory problems. These residents were a bit older and we less alert, so the interaction with the dogs was more limited. Sidney was not nervous at all, more curious about all…

On Saturday, our Sidney turned two years old! I can't believe how quickly time has passed. It seems like not that long ago, he was still a young pup and we were just experiencing life as corgi parents.
He's such a great dog and I am so happy he is part of our family!
I decided to make him a birthday cake. I have a book of "doggie recipes"...recipes for treats OK for dog and human alike.…

HI everyone,
This post was made on our San Diego Corgi meetup board:
Unfortunately, we need to find a new home for Oliver. He is almost five years old, we have had him since he was 12 weeks. He is a beautiful tri-color with a spirited "Corgi" attitude. He is current with all vaccinations and licensing. We just had a vet check him out this weekend, and he was give a clean bill of health. Please contact us for more info.
It sounds like the family has a new baby and…

We are so proud of our little Sidney! He passed his Therapy dog test after 6 weeks of classes.
Now he just has to complete 10 hours of supervised visits and he will become a fully certified therapy dog!
Since my daughter is Sidney's handler, she will probably start with the visits after she graduates in June.
Here is Sidney in his official "Therapy dog in training" bandana:
Waiting to be called to receive his graduation…

We had beautiful weather this weekend and decided to take a hike out in Rattlesnake Canyon. No, we didn't see any snakes (did see their tracks across the trails, though). But on the way back out of the canyon, Sidney suddenly started rubbing his head against the ground and whimpering. We checked his ear out...we found a small cut on the tip but that was all. We figured that was the cause and, upon arriving at home, we cleaned the cut and put some salve on it. However, he kept shaking his head…

Hey everyone! It's me, Sidney again. I have let my human write a lot lately, but I wanted my turn today.
Last weekend we took a ride in the car with my older brother Bruce. We got out of the car at this great park with lots and lots of trees. And there were so many humans, most dressed up in fancy clothes.
Here I am feeling really small among lots of people. Everyone who saw me was really happy to see me...even the Queen!…

Just a quick note to anyone in southern California, there is a one year old male tri-color that needs to be re-homed.
Just go to the San Diego COrgi Meet-up board for info:

My daughter got permission to include Sidney in the spring play at her high school! It is called "He Who Gets Slapped" and it takes place at a circus. Sidney and his friend Pepper were circus dogs! They had a busy tech week, worked really hard and did great up on stage. They playgoers just loved seeing Pepper and Sidney, and I have to say Sidney looked so handsome and at ease up there, looking out and the audience and smiling.
Here he is in his costume:…

HI Corgi People!
Advantage is sponsoring "Get to the Vet", a campaign to encourage us to take our dogs and cats in for preventative care. They will email you a certificate for the vet to fill out. Just submit it with your vet receipt and get $20 back!
Since they are only issuing 80 per hour, I suggest you pre-fill out the form and wait for the top of the hour to roll around. When it does, hit "submit". Good luck!…

I was so happy with the corgi purse I bought from this site a couple weeks ago, I went back and bought the matching wallet. It arrived today and I am so happy with the image as well as the quality of the wallet. I'm sure it will make me smile every time I take it out of my purse!
