Considering Fostering

One of my goals for this year is to save up enough money to buy my long awaited first show dog. And it is going to take the whole year (maybe even a little longer) to save up enough money for that sucker! In the mean time, I think I have decided that I would like to try fostering, both to help out in rescue and to see how my life will function with 3 dogs (although I have a feeling the jump from 2 to 3 is easier than from 0 to 1, or even from 1 to 2). I found a little BHT Corgi male about 1.5… Continue

To pet owners, and (non) pet owners

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE PETS, THIS IS A TRUE STORY. FOR THOSE THAT DON'T, IT IS A TRUE STORY.

The following was found posted very low on a refrigerator door.

Dear Dogs and Cats: The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the… Continue

The Bissell SpotBot...this biz really works!

I got a Bissell SpotBot for Christmas. I love this thing! I got ride of three stains in 15 minutes using the auto setting! I just SpotBotted the corner of the sofa that Tig has christened by using the manual hose...the stains are ALL GONE! I used the mean green cleaner and a small container of pet stain remover...you go through a lot of solution but it is relatively cheap. All in about 45 minutes! AH-MAZE-ING! Me and Stanley Steamer may be broke up now! :-D

Puppy Training at Petsmart.

So I finished the majority of my shopping in preparation to bring my new baby boy home next weekend. I was approached by several employees, asking if I was going to enroll my pup in the training programs they have. Since it is a smaller store, I will probably end up taking him to train there since the classes are smaller. My only apprehension is, the first puppy class is said to start when they are 10 weeks old. Is it safe to bring a puppy around other dogs when they have not received all of… Continue

Thinking of getting a new addition

I will be moving out of my parent's house very soon in to a rental, depending on the job I am applying for. If all goes well, I was thinking of getting a cat to join the family (Maine Coon or Siberian). Now, I don't plan on getting the kitten until Wynstan is at least 8-12 months.

Is there anything I should do help Wynstan get along with the possible new addition? He travels with me to friends' houses that have cats and gets along with them well, I think he thinks they are just funny… Continue

More Corgi Shopping Essentials! Dog Coats

It is cold outside! I know that the corgis have a double coat, but when they are sitting around in the cold damp barn, I am sure they get a little chilly. I also like them protected from the drizzly cold weather. I bought them these great fleece dog blankets from Dover Saddlery...Now they match my horse!!! The large seems to fit them well...… Continue

Corgi Christmas Stockings!

For Christmas this year, I received a beautiful needlepoint stocking featuring a red & white corgi...it is perfect for Tigger. But then, it left Molly without a stocking! So, it was my mission to find Molly her own stocking...I was unable to find a black-headed tri stocking but I did find a stocking that featured a tri-color corgi on it. For the best price and service, I found one at www.strictlyanimals.com.…

The Dog Who Steals Pillows

So Skyler has a beautiful comfy bed with a blanket to sleep on right next to my bed. But, for the past week or so I have been catching making a nice comfortable nest out of my decorative throw pillows that I stack next to my night stand! He rearranges the pillows to make his sleep-cocoon. Sky does look comfortable doesn't he? I caught him before he really woke up this morning. I wonder when he does this at night! I need a puppy… Continue

Livvy's last road trip! 3 weeks and counting down till puppy time!

We just had to go see our grandson one last time before the pups are due!

Livvy loves to travel and loves people, since she will be busy for the next few months...I thought it was only fair for her to get a short "vacation" before raising her own corgi crew! She is beginning to look as wide as she is long!

Just as a reminder, here's Clue a week ago (three weeks to go):

=( Confrontation is coming

Our housemate has a husky who is kind've feral, I guess, and she has attacked Pooka over 5 times since he started living with us in August. She has 3 small scars on her face and they are taking very long to heal.

He is whipped by his dog and seems to like that she is kind've wild and pushes him around (woofs until he take her on a walk) Most of the time she is sleeping and being anti-social. She's pretty much like a cat. If you mess surprise her when she is sleeping she is likely to… Continue

Corgi sitting for 2 weeks

My husband and I have the opportunity to babysit my mom's dog Rex for 2 weeks starting Sunday. I'm super excited, but I'm pretty sure the other half is a bit nervous. He's never had dogs, so doesn't really know how to be around them. It'll also be different as I've never had a dog in town before. On the farm we just open the door and they charge around where ever they want. The whole take it for a walk idea will be interesting. Thank goodness it's supposed to get above zero next week! Rex is… Continue

von willebrand disease

I was wondering if anyone's corgi has this problem? Bella hasn't been offically diagnosed yet because the test is expensive and they have to send it off but I have had her tested for just about everything else and that seems to be the last resort. She was having a problem with it around Thanksgiving but the vet seemed to get it under control for now. She still has occational bleeding but it subsides with in a day. I've heard the disease is more common in corgis. Our 6 month old corgi, Clark,… Continue

Snapping... Wierd?

Reagan's been doing a wierd thing.

He's been snapping. At first I thought he was snapping at me, and at people and otherwise being naughty. Then a few times I was watching him laying down and noticed he'd snap his teeth a few times without any stimulus around him. I started watching him more often and noticed he does it in his crate too, when he's resting. He doesn't make any noise when he does this, aside from the clipping noise his teeth make, and he never has any particular expression… Continue
