Just had Nigel neutered yesterday. We had a rough night. He had trouble sleeping with the neck cone and whined all night. My doctor said to continue using the cone collar for 5 days so he doesn't lick or bite the wound area. If I take off the collar, he immediately starts licking the wound. I just feel so badly that Nigel has to wear that cone. He hates it! Anyone have any pointers? Can I spray anything on the area to get him to stop licking? Is it really going to take 5 days for recovery? He's…

Well... I hope Santa has Rudolph healthy and ready for a rocky ride here delivering presents in Southern Minnesota cuz we are supposed to get hit with a major winter storm that involves freezing rain and who knows how much snow?? It is supposed to start tomorrow, intensify on Christmas Eve and day!!!!(I won't go anywhere in freezing rain) We had travel plans that are still up in the air at this point for Christmas Eve but I am secretly hoping to stay…

We brought home some new comfy, cozy cushions for the Corgi kidz last weekend. I get so excited to bring 'em home so they can inspect them and plop on them after they've accepted their new beds.
OMG! You cannot beat the cushions from Costco. They are made well, great size...that cedar smell when they're new and the price cannot be beat...$18.99? Are you kidding me? We had to make a stop at Petsmart before Coscto and the…

I know everyone loves their dogs, but I'm bordering on obsession here. We've had the very good fortune of owning some remarkable dogs (and a few real messes) but I can honestly say that this young pup is the most remarkable dog I've ever owned and maybe ever known.
I didn't even want him! That blue eye! OY! I know it makes him stand out, but honestly! That's not what I was looking for. I was looking for a nice black headed tri female that I could enjoy and who would be a bit more…

I have been wanting to start feeding my dogs a raw diet a couple times a week! This am I let my dogs out as usual and Wiley and Wynn decided to sneak through the fence and pursue their own raw diet! Poor bunny! They were very proud of their prey but there wasn't much left and I'm not looking forward to the after effects either! Oh well they sure enjoyed the fresh meat! I will give them their heartworm pill tomorrow! I'm sure Bella was bummed as she is my rabbit dog and watches them out my…

Hi, My puppy Rocky is 4 months old & my vet keeps saying that 6months is a good time to neuter him. We are not sure if we want to have him neutered. We have had one female & one male corgi that have been spayed & neutered and one male that was not. The female we did not want to have puppies so we chose to have her spayed. The male that was neutered had only one testicle so vet said it was a potential health issue later on. The other male was not neutered & he lived a long…

Showing off her topline in the snow.
With Bramble, who is convinced that he's the one who did this. They pretty much ignored each other except to play until she was in heat, and since then he just follows her around and spoons her whenever she lies down. Poor guy has NO idea that he's…

So this morning we had to take our bunnie, a miniature Rex, to the Emergency Veterinarian who is a Bunny Specialist since Sniffles eye was bulging out of her head. His diagnosis was from Tooth Root problems which caused an abscess behind her left eye. We could have done surgery to remove the eye but with the costs of the medications, the multiple surgeries and there being no guarantee that she would pull through it left our only other option, to send her to Heaven far too early.
I am…

Wonderful solstice weekend. Neighborhood party, ran around the lake, walked dogs to coffee shop and all around the neighborhood, called Mom and best friends, bought some brandy, bathed both dogs, and sat around drinking brandy & egg nog, combing the dogs while listening to Patrick Stewart's masterful narration of "A Christmas Carol" [highly recommended]. Whole family: me, Lori, kid home from college, both corgis, and the cat, probably even the…

There's about a foot of snow out there, possibly more and Bella's loving every inch of it. Granted she has a difficult time trying to stay above the snow (she's learned to walk on top of our footsteps now to keep her head above), but loves it nonetheless. She even tries catching our snowballs in the snowball fights. It's too bad that I don't have a camera anymore to capture the memories, but there's no way this memory will be forgotten soon. :D
