23-28 December

I break into our regularly scheduled vacation to update myself on what has been going on.

Poppy did very well (from what I can tell) in the 5 days/4 nights of boarding. So far I have only found one flea and no coughing, but sometimes these things don't show themselves for a few days. When the worker brought her out to me, she was so tired (a good thing!) and it took her a minute to recognize me. By the time I got her home, we were back in the swing of things. Apparently she slept in a…

The 7 most newsworthy dogs of 2011

Here are the top dogs in the news for 2011.  No Corgis, but interesting nonetheless!   They are all very good story, but I like the bionic pup the best.  What is your favorite on or off the list for 2011?

In the early stages of writing/illustrating a children's book based on Corgi lore!!!

Hello everyone! i hope y'all had a very lovely Christmas, I know I did! I just wanted to share with you guys something i have been thinking a lot about doing, but never really started until now. ever since i got my corgi, Daxter, i've read folk tales about where the corgi breed came from. there is one tale in particular that always caught my attention as a great idea for a children's book. i wrote down the preliminary story (my own version) a while back, but never really did anything with…

Tooo Dadgum Funny!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful and love filled Christmas, but if you are like me, you are sooooo glad that it is over.  This was my first Christmas with Solomon and it was a funny one.  I have never laughed so hard in all my life at an animal.  My hubby had been teasing Solomon with what was in his stocking and we talked to him about Santa coming but all he did was yawn, like yea whatever.  So when I got up this beautiful Christmas morning Solomon was downstairs with Daddy and I came…

Merry Christmas & Happy Birthday !!

Hope everybody is having a very Merry Christmas! Jeter and Cappy love Christmas. They ate the doggy biscuits I baked for them, several little pieces of Christmas ham, and other Christmas treats. They were so excited to get new toys. We went to see the Christmas lights at night. And today is Jeter's birthday, too. He is now 4 years old! Happy birthday, my little buddy!!

My little men.

I am getting super obsessed with the corgs and even (OMG) give them tidbits. I can't handle their beautiful brown eyes looking lovingly at me. So my goal is to stop obsessing about them so much AND STOP GIVING THEM THINGS THEY SHOULDN"T EAT.

Breed Standards

I have learned a lot since joining this site. Sadly, I have come to realize that Snickers, although a purebred, is not breed standard. I cannot brush another dog's worth of fur from her coat, she seldom FRAPs, and does not have the long tongue necessary for proper derping. I will count my blessings that she is a corgi in every other way. She is bossy, noisy, and is obsessed with food and chasing or herding things. She is smart, funny and with do ANYTHING for food. Update: After watching the…

Thursday 12/22/11

Everything yesterday was fantastic. Finally nothing new or exciting to report. She whines and barks when I leave and I am still trying to find a remedy to that, but since it is during the week days, I don't worry too much. When I go back to work in the new year, I am going to try to video her, to see how long it lasts. When I come home 4-5hrs later, she is silent, but for all I know, she stopped the moment I walked up the stairs.

We went to Centinela Feed at night so I could get more…

Wednesday 12/21/11

Of course, when things are starting to go well, I am going away this weekend for 4 days! Already not looking forward to the return next week, but on the upside, I don't really have to be at work, so I can spend a lot of time with Poppy for the next 6 days.

Yesterday was great. She cried and barked when I left in the morning (with Rescue Remedy and Thundershirt, but none seem to be working when I am not in the apartment). When I came home at lunch, she had moved everything in her pen…

Merry Christmas my Corgie friends

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the shed

Not a creature was moving, they all appeared dead.

The cows were all quiet, from the horses not a sound

The coyotes weren’t howling but you knew they were around.

Snowflakes started falling looked to be in for a long night

It appears that this Christmas, the ground will all be white.

Put some more wood in the stove, stoked up the warming fire

Headed off towards the bed, it’s time for me…
