On Sunday we'll see the puppies at last!

I can't believe it ...the day is almost here. We'll be going on Sunday afternoon to play with the puppies. There are seven and some are tricolors and some are red and white. Ohhhhh the anticipation is about to be the end of me!

Our two boys will be going with us. So much for my plan for calm cool temperment testing! Not meant to be. It will however be so much fun to see them rolling around with all those babies!

I will take tons of pictures and we MAY pick one out that… Continue

We graduated!

I have seen a LOT of improvement mold from start to finish!

Mackenzie does listen to most commands...but unfortunately, still barks at me the whole time.

I am starting to just reward her with random treats when she is sitting and making no noise randomly.

IT SEEMS to be working. Trying to show her it pays to be quiet.

I think we could pass the k9 good citizenship test, if we didn't have the barking issue.

The trainer is even amazed… Continue

Dog's rules for living

My friend sent me an email today that included Dog's rules for living. People should take advice from our furry friends!

1. When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

2. Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

3. Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

4. Take naps.

5. Stretch before rising.

6. Run, romp, and play daily.

7. Thrive on attention and let people… Continue

Spring!

Spring is here and Jake is out and about in the yard. There has been no rain, so the yard is dry and that means lots of running and running. He is very chummy with Guiness in the yard behind us. We had initially thought his name was Dennis as we could hear the owner calling him, but the lady talked to me last week and she said his name is Guiness as he is black and tan-seems to be a Rott/Lab mix. Big dog but very sweet. They love to run along the fence line together and once the lady clears… Continue

Donor Dogs Give the Gift of Life

Here's a great article about Dog and Cat Blood Donation from MSN.com

Unfortunately most Corgis will not meet the Blood Donation Requirement, but if you have a larger breed dog or know someone who may be interested in being a four legged hero, here are some links in your… Continue

Meet Spartacus

I finally have the time to introduce my little champ to the site! I am officially a corgi-owner!

So this is Spartacus, he is now 8 weeks and 3 days old! My boyfriend and I picked him up on Saturday, and boy was it a hectic day! So when we got home, i tried walking him outside to get him to go potty, which he actually did! But poor thing was so nervous, he was trembling with confusion, and maybe fear? We then brought him inside, and let him roam around and explore the house a little… Continue

Our cat was lost!

Hi Everyone! It's me, Sidney again! Things have been pretty quiet around here lately. I've been going to my obedience classes and some days I pay attention, and some days I am just too distracted. We have a great time, though.

The only excitement came last weekend when one of my toys...I think the humans call it "cat"...snuck out of the house when nobody was looking. See, this cat lives inside only and it not allowed outside. Boy, do I feel lucky because I get to go outside… Continue

Corgi Cross???

When I bought Henry (first dog) at my age <50+>, I believed the person that told me he was a Dachshund. Over the months Henry morphed into the cute mutt you can see today. I believe he's part corgi, and he looks it at times; with that large chest, long body, stubby legs and ears that are mostly erect. Because I love this mystery mutt I've asked our vet about a DNA test. Our vet is from the old school, and won't pursue the testing, therefore; Henry is now a contestant on… Continue

Please vote for Rosie in Pet Idol.

My local newspaper, Peoria Journal Star, has a pet idol contest which is raising money for newspaper in education. Our first night was sleepless...

The first night with Bella was full of howling, crying, and whining! I put her in her crate and this was the first time she slept alone and she didn't like it. I put an electric heater near the crate to keep her warm, thinking a warm puppy was a sleepy puppy but it seems she was afraid of it. Sometime between 3 and 3:30 she woke me up crying and the heater was running again so I think it kicked on and woke her up. I took her to pee and put her back in and she cried. Eventually I fell asleep… Continue

So sue me...

I added my first video of Trunks and me dancing in front of my web cam. It's kinda stupid, but I am just too excited to finally have DSL at my house and no more dial-up! That's a thing of the past.

I'll add some more entertaining videos soon.

Carmen :)

Added note from Trunks: I was forced to dance against my will. Please someone take the iMac away from her!!!!

Lets play in the dirt

Well, after are follow up visit with the vet today (all ok and chest cold is pretty much gone) I decided to go home and do a little work in the yard while my girlfriend watched Luna for a bit. We had to make sure we kept an eye on her since she got her first vaccination today. Well, after she slept for awhile and I dug in the ground. It was time for her to go potty. As soon as she got a wiff of the fresh dirt my little Luna went crazy digging and rolling around. I think she thought it was her… Continue

Go and see, and temperment test results

Ok, this is the week we get to go see the puppies! I am so excited. I have managed to find a few videos on uTube that show 4 and 5 week old puppies so I think I know what to expect. They will be 5 weeks old tomorrow (Monday) and I am wondering if it is still to early to tell what they'll be like as far as personality goes. I know color can dramatically change too.

I would love to hear what kind of personality temperment testing you guys did your pup and did it accurately predict the… Continue

The puppy is finally here!

We got Bella this morning and everything is going great! She is totally laid back and loving and we're all in love! Our day has consisted of napping, going outside to pee, walking around, coming back in to play for awhile and taking a nap again. We've loved every minute of it! She totally loves the kids and seems to want to stick by them more than myself. The cats aren't sure what to make of her but she isn't pushing the issue so hopefully they'll come around. We are calling her Bella and Bello… Continue

Sooo when is teething over?

I'm rounding out my first week with Grover. He is the best! He has tons of energy right now and will play and play until he can barely keep his eyes open. He loves sleeping on the tile in the kitchen. He has only had ONE accident in the house!! And NO poo accidents! How great is that? The one accident was when my husband and I were play dancing in the living room...he literally peed ALL over the place. It looked like he was trying to spell his name in the carpet with pee. So Grover does not… Continue

Unfortunately, I won't be able to see her to celebrate... This is my last week of classes coming up, so I have lots of homework and projects to do, plus two fundraisers to coordinate!

Home from Herding at Cardigan Nationals

The boys would like to share their story about our trip to Kentucky to be apart of the herding event at 2008 Cardigan Welsh Corgi Nationals. You can read about it at the boys' blog.

Check it out here: http://portermurphy.blogspot.com/

As their Mom, I have recuperated somewhat. I got hit with allergies really bad and am trying to get them under control. It was a fun experience and I'm glad we got to attend a part of the activities.
