PARVO POSTIVE: Ah!! I can't stand it :( A new litter of puppies from the same rescue I advertised before have caught parvo. At first I thought it wasn't serious but two puppies have died D; I can't believe such innocent puppies have been sent across the rainbow bridge at such an early stage in their lives!!! PLEASE DONATE TO THIS RESCUE SO THE REST OF THE LITTER CAN MAKE IT OUT ALIVE AND HEALTHY:http://www.cuddlycanines.com/
Thank…

Ok, I realize it's been way too long since I posted any pictures or a Lucy update. Some exciting things have happened!
1. Lucy turned a year old! I decorated the house and got her lots of toys for presents. I'm sure she had no idea what was going on but I had to celebrate the milestone. A year ago, having a corgi was only a dream that I was sure would never be realized. Little did I know the day she was born that the love of my life had come into the world.
2. Lucy started her…

So the village has a few other dogs, mostly huskeys and husky crosses. Sometimes the white people who come here adopt the dogs. This can be complicated because the Inuit have a different sense of ownership than we do. For example, a co-woker of mine adopted an abandoned village puppy, but the Inuit consider this dog to be stolen because even though the abandoned it, it was still theirs to let die. I can see why she would want to take the puppy in, cute, fluffy, and in need. We are told…

Today I took Sidney to an open house/grand opening for an indoor dog training facility called The Whole Dog.
They had vendors, guest speakers and activities.
We decided to compete in Simon Says; it started with "sit" and got harder from there. Finally it was down to Sidney and a standard poodle named Bear. THe last task was putting them in a "stay", walking…

The recalled American Beef Bully Sticks were distributed nationwide through Target retail stores from April through September 2012.
The product comes in a clear plastic bag containing 6 bully sticks marked with bar code number 647263899189. Kasel Industries is recalling all lot numbers because the following lot codes tested positive [for Salmonella] through analysis by the State of Colorado Department of Agriculture: BESTBY20APR2014DEN, BESTBY01JUN2014DEN, BESTBY23JUN2014DEN, and…

My friend Elizabeth and I took a walk outside the village to the bridge, about a 2km walk today before lunch. Here are some pics of Blackie with the village in the background. The village has a population of about 150 people, about 50 students in the school, and 1 corgi!…

After a lot of planning and worrying Blackie is finally here! Last night we relaxed because we were both pretty tired from our trips.
Blackie also had a bath and a brush (soooo much hair!)
Here is a picture of her this morning on my bed.…

Yesterday my corgi girl started on her journey to me. She left Halifax in the evening and stayed overnight in Montreal with a nice man in a kennel. She is now on the next leg of the journey making the flight from Montreal to Kuujjuaq. From there we should be able to meet at the airport. And from there we should be able to get home to Aupaluk! Please send your positive vibes today to Blackie on her way here!

Here is what I learned from yesterday's interior painting...1.) Oil based paint fumes are toxic to animals. I thought I would have to take Amy to the emergency vet with neurological and emotional distress. 2.) The burners on your gas stove burn the paint fumes and turn them into something that smells like kerosene and makes you think you are about to die. 3.) Corgis are like furry cockroaches and none of the above…

We live in an apartment complex on the second floor. The people below us like to garden (in pots) and I sincerely believe that they were not aware of the danger coffee grounds, sometimes used in gardening, pose to puppies.
This past weekend Kaylee woke us up and, while drowsy, we took her out to the back of out building. Kaylee rooted a bit and then looked like she was chewing something. My husband and I quickly tried to get whatever it was out of her mouth. It was a bunch of coffee…

Two years ago, my aunt moved down to Texas from Michigan to be with her daughter. While she was down there she ended up in an apartment that limited the number of cats she could have. So I took one to live with me and she kept the other. She always planned to move back to Michigan and I knew that one day she'd come to pick up Lily.
Last night Lily left for her new home. Lily and Nora never really became friends, but Nora sure did enjoy following her around the apartment, doing…

So i have not been on in a while and so I thought I would post an update on Piper! She is almost 18 weeks and growing like a weed. She weighs about 13 lbs now! The doctor said she might be a little bit on the smaller side, which is A-OK with me! She is so well behaved it almost scares me haha. She knows when I tell her no or to leave it she immediately stops what she is doing. She's so smart. Also potty training is about 90%! The only accidents she has is when she is left in her big…

I don't know how many of you remember that I rescued two Corgis on Mothers Day 2011...I was losing my Emma Anne to DM and was heart broken and God answered with showing me this Corgi rescue here in VA close by. Katie (her name before was K9!!!) had been attacked by a large animal and almost died from infection/maggots since her former owner did not take he to the Vet til the last moment...her son Jack…

Ok, you know how people do shopping haul videos, well, I wanted to do a shopping blog haul post. I also want to say as a a little caveat, I am not rich, I live in the north and I have to order stuff in bulk and in advance to ensure I get a good price on the shipping cost, but also to make sure I have what I need when I need it, I can't just go to the store and buy what I want, the co-op has a very limited supply and selection. …

Lovely late summer day, my husband and I were both off work, so we took the Corgis swimming. Or I should say we took Maddie swimming and Jack wading. And thanks to my husband who forded a stream, crossed a sand bar, balanced on logs across a boggy bit, and waded up to his thighs to get a toy that floated away....…

I am so excited! I have crossed my T's and dotted my I's on the contract for a beautiful Border Collie girl who is expected to come to our home in two weeks' time. A year ago, Ace had just come all the way from the U.S. and was busy giving me a nervous meltdown. I remember being terrified by the prospect of dealing with this unruly, stubborn, independent dog for the next 10-15 years. I think the process of welcoming a new dog into your home is like childbirth - it's…

So, after a few bouts of bloody poop and vomiting and blood and fecal tests our vet has returned a presumed diagnosis of low grade, recurrent pancreatitis. I say presumed as the blood test and the symptoms point towards this being the problem, however the fecal tests, which were taken when Potus was feeling okay as his bouts have not been frequent enough, thankfully, for us to have gotten a sample of his bloody poo, could not 100% confirm the diagnosis.
Nonetheless we are going…
