Eddy's getting neutered on Monday. Heheh, doesn't even suspect! Unfortunately, a lot has been dumped on our agenda next week. We are going to be moving into our new place, which will definately spill over days and days. And the Other human has an important job interview
and just had surgery, so will be seeing the Doc a lot. Meaning
I have to handle Eddy and Moving. How convenient! All of a sudden, we have tons of planning, packing, cleaning, loading, carrying, unloading,…

I cleaned Eddy's ears on Sunday... I clean them every, well, whenever I remember, probably 12 or more days. After this round, though, he seemed really bothered, shaking his head, itching, etc. etc. I'm like, "Great this'll be trip #3 to the vet for the month of June." Sigh.
I figured there was too much moisture in there, and he couldn't quite shake it out, so I tried sopping "it" up with a dry cotton ball as deep as I dared (I'm terrified of going too far), flexing his ears around to…

Don't you think Master Shifu from Kung Fu Panda looks more like a corgi than a red panda? My boyfriend and I think so, but maybe that's just coming from a corgi household.. hmm.

This past week has been soo frustrating and confusing. Eddy's been acting like a terrible little tot.
1.) He's been hardcore teething. Trying to gnaw and shred things he previously had no interest in, like paper and his leash.
2.) He's been barking!!!! Aaaugh, annoying. Just looks at us and goes, "YARP!"
3.) He's been puking. He threw up twice 2 days ago, and once this morning. But he doesn't act woozy or lethargic or anything, and his appetite for food and water is fine,…

Well, Eddy hasn't chewed anything off-limits for an entire month. No shoes, table legs, PS3 controllers, nada.
Until today! He shredded the bottoms of our vertical blinds while I was showering!!! We've always let him roam while we shower- it's like 10 minutes, ya know! - and crate him for all other times. He's never had issues, I get out of the shower and he's still a Good Puppy. And he's teething right now, doing a lot of crying and chewing, so we got him some extra-nice chewies. A big…

Eddy loves to (try to) eat crawly-things. We usually catch him before they even hit his lips, but he's definately ate a few mosquitos, ants, and spiders. Last night, we heard him snorting in the kitchen, and he had a huge daddy long leg on its back, belly-up, and it was flailing its legs at his face as he tried to snap at it! I had a dog that liked to peel birch paper off of birch trees and eat it, that was the weirdest habit I've witnessed, and we never broke him of it. I thought Eddy learned…

Today the veterinarian wasn't our regular one. So the experience kind of sucked. She squirted his corona booster all over the place.. She took
forever with doing his rabies vac, so Eddy got all yippy and squirmy and wiggly, and she had to get a
helper. Then she lectured me, "Corgis are very protective of their bodies. Be sure to handle him a lot, like, touch his feet, his belly, his hindquarters.. that way he'll be better with the vet or when you'd like to clip his…

Just got back from Alaska. Eddy's safe and sound, but huuuge! He got a lot of exercise. But I'm pretty sure he received no discipline, at least, he sure is acting like it.
3rd shots are due this week.
My sister said she thinks he has a flea infestation... but her dogs are on Frontline Plus, and Eddy is on Sentinel... sooo, unlikely, right? I'll have to flea-comb him before bed.
Ahhh, it's good to be home! I Heart Portland.

In a few hours, I'll drop Eddy off with my sister while my boyfriend and I visit Alaska for a week. Yay, vacation and family. Sob, separation and corgi.

Today as I was getting ready, I heard Eddy freaking out in the other room. He had tried to eat a huge black woodcutter ant, and it had attached itself to his lip, and seemed to be nipping him over and over!!! Eddy was like, "YIP! YIP! YIP! YIP! YIP!" He was sneezing, shaking his head, rolling all over the place, etc. I yanked it off, and it made a nasty *crick* sound (?). GROSS. I hope he learned a lesson about not munching on whatever he finds laying around.
There aren't any issues…

Of course our corgis get sooo much attention. But some of it is unwanted. 2 women were at PetSmart together, one of them said, not surprisingly,
"OOOhh soooo cuuutteee those ears awww!"
And her friend asks, "Is that a corgi?"
"Yep!" I replied proudly, as Eddy is showcasing his ears and wiggling his butt and being cute.
And she shot back, "Huh. Never seen one as a puppy. It's cute now but I think they're
fugly when they're older." GASP.
Has anyone said…

Eddy's been doing a lot of whining while chewing lately... yay, teething. Also, for the past 2 weeks, he's been really good about not chewing on non-chew toys. Then, suddenly, 2 days ago, he started going crazy and chewing everrryythinngg. So we're going to start experimenting with some new chewies, freezing some kongs and nylabones and carrots for him, etc etc.
We have to leave him while we go on vacation!! I'm having separation anxiety. A whole week without little Eddybones to…

Yesterday's play-date went great for the first half... I went out to Portland to see my best friend and her new beagle-lab-aussie shepherd pup. They're the same size, and immediately began wrestling and tumbling. Then she bit a gash under Eddy's eyeball! It bled into his eye, and he was squinting and wincing. We cleaned him up, but then they just kept wanting to go at each other's throats and soft spots!!! They were definately tense and resentful after the injury, and couldn't play nice any…

Nothing was wrong with Eddy! The doctor was really sweet -though the front desk ladies seemed to think he was pompous- and he gave us a free trial of Sentinel, informing us that he was just at a flea conference and that fleas around this area are developing a tolerance to Advantix. He said Eddy's red-rimmed eyes are probably caused by allergy season here in Portland, and the fact that he's always dragging his stubby corgi body through tall grass. Eddy still had some scabs leftover from his…

Saw a flea on Eddy! EEK. Went to Banfield and got a single dose of Frontline Top Spot, since he won't be seeing his vet for a couple more days to get what we hope will be his regular flea medication - Frontline Plus. Tomorrow night, after the 24-hour kill flea period, we'll attempt to de-flea the house and his stuff. Sigh. Eddy B. Scrapperdine will get a cold bath tomorrow night as well to sooth his bites. I'm from a flea-less state, so I'm new to this problem, and I wonder if these precautions…

Whenever we encounter doggies at the park, any sex/ age/ size, Eddy just gets all submissive and rolls over for them or hides behind my legs. And the other dogs do the opposite: they want to to sniff casually/calmly, or they want to do the pounce-play, or they're wrenching with all their strength against their leashes and barking madly to get a closer look, or they're perked-ears, sitting, patiently, observing him... Etc etc. It doesn't matter what the dog
is or
does, Eddy just…

I took Eddy to play with my sister's chiuaua, Dublin, all day. He is a little more robust, but not as tall as her. She was far superior, more coordinated and more dominant, of course. They wrestled all over the place, and she was usually snappy and impatient, and showed utter annoyance for his whining and yipping. She probably won't be so bossy in another month or so. They also have this GIANT white dog, looks like a lab body and a german shepherd head, that Eddy would
not go near, even…

It's been 75-85 degrees here for the past few days... which is way too hot for Eddy, Mike, and myself. It's really frustrating because Eddy refuses to go on his walks since it's been so hot! He'll potty and run around a tad if we're in the shade, but I can't get him to go on a walk because our walking places are mostly in sunlight. He just wants to go back inside where it's cool. I mean, I don't blame him, but then he brings all that energy indoors, which means.. destruction, barking,…

I thought we were doing
so good...
Eddy was coming to his name consistently. If we caught him squatting, and said "NO." he would stop mid-stream for us to take him outside. He was 'sit.'-ing and 'come here.'-ing for treats. But that was just 2 days ago. And now he is a disobedient pup!
Is he suddenly so comfortable at our house that he is toying with the rules? Can he break them- will we enforce them- etc etc?! I thought that this defiance wouldn't start for another…

Today my boyfriend and I agreed that Eddy's changed so much in the past few days.. Like, he's suddenly into physically bonding, cuddling, leaning, etc. His coordination during playtime is amazing. Also, his leash skills are improving, in that he tugs less and follows more. (Does anyone have any leash tips? He's 10 wks old.) But he does this hilarious move where he runs 5 steps and rolls over, runs, rolls over, over and over. Dirty but cute.
And I have to adjust his collar to a bigger…
