When Bear and Goldy are playing and she gets the urge to frap, chickenboy Bear leaps up onto the couch and plops himself into my lap! If I try to push him off, he resists and looks into my eye as if to say, "SHE'S LOST IT!!! Look at her running around the room! She is NOT right!! SAVE ME!!!!!"
They crack me up.

Bear has never much cared for having his paws handled, and it's something I've worked on forever. Whenever he jumps up on the couch next to me, I hold his paw and rub on it to get him used to the sensation/feeling.
Today, he jumped up on the couch. I reached over, gave him some lovings on his head and then sat my hand down next to him on the couch. He put his paw on my hand. I covered his paw with my hand and he laid down and went to sleep.
It occurred to me that he's…

I've always had great experiences at our local dog park - and always keep an eye out for aggressive dogs and dogs with strong prey drives, especially since Goldy looks like a little bunny, but it never occurred to me to be on the lookout for greyhounds (pitbulls, german shepherds, etc, yes, but greyhounds? I had no idea).
We go to the dog park mostly on days I'm off work from school because I can pretty much guarantee there won't be any other dogs there, and if there are, there's…

A lot of times when Goldy wants to play and Bear doesn't, she'll lay on the floor next to him, often on her back or side, rolling back and forth. Is this something that can be traced back to packs of dogs? Everytime she does it, I watch her - she's so calm and subdued, not sleeping, just lying there next to him and watching him.
Do your dogs do it? Does it tend to be the younger dog or the more submissive one? Do you know why they do it?…

Bear, Goldy and I have begun clicker training. Today was day 1...and thank goodness for smart Corgis!
The downside of having two dogs by yourself - you're supposed to separate them when you train them. Even though both of my dogs are crate trained and go into their crate happily everyday when I say "crate," when I crate one to work with the other - the barking is INSANE.
SO, we're making it our own and doing it together, and so far so good. When one sits, I click and…

I often think after Bear and Goldy get a drink that perhaps a Saint Bernard has snuck into my kitchen.
Both of them stick their whole nose in the bowl, drink and then with a half-full mouth of water pull their heads away from the bowl and dribble water a good foot away from the bowl!
I thought it was just Bear originally, but either all Corgis are sloppy drinkers or Bear taught Goldy his bad habit.
Sincerely,
Steph with Soggy Feet

Bear was a terrible car rider when he was a pup - would sit in the seat and whine and cry. He got over it by about 4 or 5 months, and I was glad. Goldy has also been a bit of a nightmare in the car, so much drama.
On Saturday I was going to see a friend and her new baby about an hour north of here and I decided to take Goldy on her first "long" car ride. She was in the backseat with a blankie and a chew. She cried the entire way up and back - nothing loud and dramatic, just the…

Not sure if I really saw what I thought I saw, but it went something like this....
Bear and Goldy playing in the floor.
Bear plops down on his belly and flops over, head down, eyes closed.
Goldy walks over, sniffs him, walks away.
Bear looks up - woof - head back down, eyes closed.
Goldy comes back, jumps on his head and he flips her!
They are seriously toooo much fun to watch!

Goldy is here and bless her little heart! She gave corgis a bad name at the vet's yesterday - she bit the vet. They weren't doing anything to her, just holding her still on the table and she started squalling and screaming, lashing her head around. I was laughing a little because I couldn't believe such a loud sound was coming out of such a little girl. The vet looked at me VERY stern and said, "This is not funny, this is very aggressive behavior and you need to nip it in the bud…

Our new girl is coming home on Wednesday. I'm on fall break this week, so I'm doing some preparations for her arrival.
I already have some puppy food, I transitioned Bear over to adult food when he was about 1/3 of the way through a bag of puppy food, so I put the remains in some air tight containers for Goldy's arrival - but I'm trying to make sure I have everything. I also have a crate - Bear's old one - and I have a leash.
I've made a pet store list:
