Foster Dog--Milo Update

I should have wrote this one sooner but we had emergency surgery (we being the boyfriend) and I was running around going crazy. Anyway, Milo got adopted at the end of September/beginning of October!!!

Thank you to everyone who helped me take care of him. He's doing great in his new home and the owner is absolutely in love with him. She made a bee line to him when she went to Petsmart.

DOOOOLEY!!!!!!!!!! HE'S HERE!

Oh, my gosh -- you all can't believe how I feel right now -- a sudden wave of mixed emotions has taken my breath away to find Dooley on here! I'm crying and really don't have much to say because the words are hard to come by -- I will talk with everyone later.

Goodbye, Dooley -- Part 2

After reading all the kinds words, I feel it is necessary to clarify my anger -- I was crying when I wrote the first part, and probably left out details and confused a lot of readers.

First of all, there is not one person on this site that I am angry with. All of you, beginning with Sam Tsang and his wife, stepped up to the plate to help me get this dog to safety. It is the people behind the scenes I'm angry with -- including myself.

Second of all, Dooley is not yet with… Continue

Goodbye, Dooley -- I will always love and remember you!

On Saturday, October 31st, (Halloween) Dooley was taken to Texas to be adopted. I didn't pre-post or discuss this ahead of time, as I didn't want to vacillate and question myself in self torment. Now, that I'm home, slept for a few hours after a long road trip, am drinking coffee while Topaz and Frankie are outside enjoying the beautiful weather and sunshine, I'm actually tormented anyway.

After 2 1/2 months of fostering Dooley, awaiting placement, getting excited because a space… Continue

Confessions of a Failed Corgi Foster Parent

I got the email from the woman who did the design when we renovated our office. She has a Corgi and knows that I have the Corgi disease. “10 month Old Corgi needs a home” read the subject line…Okay I thought, I know a lot of Corgi people, surely someone would be interested in this darling little man. Success right away! A friend of my daughters and her fiancé said that they would love to take him and on top of that a MyCorgi member close by also indicated they would like to adopt. I picked up… Continue

THE STORY OF DOOLEY - TRI-COLORED FLUFFY

"There is a character named Dooley in the Mitford Series by Jan Karon. He is a young boy that is given up by his mother, comes to live with a pastor, grows up to be a fine person. This elderly woman, Miss Sadie sees the potential in Dooley and sets up a million dollar trust fund for him when he reaches 21. You ask where is this story going??? You saw the potential in this dog and gave him a new lease on life, which is priceless."

The above was sent to me in an email from an… Continue

Special Needs Girl Settling into the Family

On Thursday we made the five hour plus trip from our place to the foster home of Gweondolyn. Gwendolyn is a one year old Corgi with Juvinile Cataracts. While she is not completely blind, her vision is severly limited. She has lived in an outdoor kennel her entire life and has never been potty trained and has had limited socialization with people. She recieved good care at her foster home, but she has a long way to go. In addition to her cataracts her eyes are especially small. She has fairly… Continue

Update on Emmett

If you've been following me on Twitter, you already know I had an eventful week. Here's the beginning incase you missed it.

Emmett came to me at only 19 lbs, I had a difficult time getting him to eat last week, I've tried broth / chicken / peanut butter / fries / wet food / dry food ...etc. He did not want any of it. He was lethargic, hid… Continue

We're home!

We came back home from our adventure to Minnesota last night around 7:30pm. We had one major tussle in the car as Chloe felt a little cornered by Riley as we took them out to potty at one of the stops on the ride home. It's been 24 hours, and it's been bittersweet.

Chloe is such a vibrant personality, very out going, incredibly loving, and will follow you everywhere. The girl loves to run! She had a blast out in the backyard! But we've got some personal space issues with other dogs,… Continue

I'm likey adopting a rescue corgi

These last few weeks has been an adventure at Petfinder.com

Cricket didn't work out because the shelter didn't email me back or contact me at all about questions and concerns I had. So now I'm looking outside the state. My search has taken me to two different cities in Minnesota. Chloe in New Ulm, MN and Cooper in Tracy, MN.

Chloe has had it rough. she's been to two different homes and had problems because the people didn't properly understand the breed and its demands,… Continue

The search is on!

This past Saturday, I made a trip to Madison, SD to look at Cricket, a rescue corgi. She was saved from a puppy mill at 4 years old. She sweet, loving, and a little shy. I took Riley and Brandon down to see her at a meet-and-greet at the Pamida. My first reaction of her was she was kind but timid. What surprised me was that after I got Riley out of the car, she came up to him first, instead of Riley making the first move. Riley was in full-on explore mode, and Cricket quietly came upt o greet… Continue

Welcome home, Ein...

It's been a long holiday season. A few weeks before Christmas my girlfriend lost one of her chihuahuas, Lilly. We went to the local shelter every day to look for her, but unfortunately, as of today she is still missing. However there is a bright side to the story. During one of our visits to the shelter a few days before Christmas, I saw an absolutely adorable little brown and white corgi mix who had just arrived and I fell in love with her in an instant. My wonderful girlfriend decided to get… Continue

New Foster

On Saturday, May 24, 2008, I will be picking up my new foster-furrball. Pictures will be up by Monday.

CJ is a 13 month old female r/w pembroke current on all shots and has been spayed. She will have an Avid microchip implanted while in foster care.

There are no behavioral issues reported with CJ. The owners have purchased a condo which has no back yard and feel it is unfair to her to keep her in the house while they are at work. She is reported as being housetrained,… Continue
