Confused....

I hoope I don't bother anyone for making a new thread but I am a bit at loss, and needs you guys advice on this... I was scared to tell about this but I am sure you guys won't judge. When I told my Therapist about getting a PWC, she actually told me that they can be really good PSD for my PTSD, Social Anxiety, Angoraphobia, and my night terrors.

All excited I called my breeder about it, and said that PWC are really not good for that kind of work without letting me explain what I… Continue

Scary Morning

Nora - this shy dog - has been making so much progress since I brought her home. But there are always those little things you can't control which I had mentioned in my first blog post.

We were just finishing up our walk this morning. We were on the sidewalk and Nora was on my left and oncoming traffic was to my right. Suddenly a runner came up behind us and went to pass us on the left - Nora's side. She got spooked and jumped out into the street as a car was approaching.…

Looking for another corgi....

Now that is has been awhile since we lost Arthur, we're looking for another.  All of our pets have been rescued.  Breeders are nice we just can't afford that path.  We'd really like a dog young and healthy enough to play with our other corgi - Jake.

Alton Brown's Corgis!

As you may be familiar, Alton Brown has two Cardigan Welsh Corgis. I couldn't find any good pictures of them online, sadly, but I did take this screen cap of them from an episode that they were in!

The Fun of Finding a Good Performance Dog Breeder

I've always loved both corgi breeds and when I originally set out to get my first corgi it was suggested I get a Cardigan as they are typically more laid-back. I wanted to go full-throttle so I got a Pembroke. Bernie was quite an adventure for a first-time dog owner. She still keeps me on my toes thinking ahead and taught me a lot as a dog trainer.

My second corgi came from the same breeder and we got a gorgeous male tri-color. He is laid-back but loves to play. He makes the perfect… Continue

CWCC National Show end of April

I am some what new to the whole cardigan show thing. I do not show dogs or do any agility or herding training though I would like to start with basic training with Le-Le. I went to a local dog show recently and heard about the National in Gettysburg which is at the end of April. I put it on my calender and can not wait to go see all the great dogs. On the first weekend there is a herding dog competition in Birdsboro, PA which is so much closer for me than Gettysburg. So I am heading there for… Continue

Cute cardi up for adoption in Michigan

I was browsing the ads on Petfinder, noticing how many cute corgi mixes need homes, when i came across this wonderful little Cardigan Corgi puppy!

The first thought i had was to post his on MyCorgi so that the wonderful people here might have a chance at adopting him.

As we all know corgis are little spitfires and if they go to a home that is not prepared for their personality, they are often sent back to the shelter.

I hope that he can find a forever home with an experienced dog… Continue

Goodbye, Dooley -- Part 2

After reading all the kinds words, I feel it is necessary to clarify my anger -- I was crying when I wrote the first part, and probably left out details and confused a lot of readers.

First of all, there is not one person on this site that I am angry with. All of you, beginning with Sam Tsang and his wife, stepped up to the plate to help me get this dog to safety. It is the people behind the scenes I'm angry with -- including myself.

Second of all, Dooley is not yet with… Continue

Great dog!

Each day Le-Le does something so cute or funny that my husband and I have to just smile or comment about how wonderful she is. We feel lucky that she is in our family. We get so many comments when we travel about how wonderful corgis are. I have to always explain she is a cardigan and a bit different from a Pembroke. She is a great traveler though she still does not like strangers too much. She does get used to the rhythm of travel, does her business quickly, likes her walks, behaves in the… Continue

D-Con Mice/Rat Poison Pellets -- Do You Know What to Do?

My loveable Topaz loves to chase rabbits, squirrels, cats, lizards, frogs, virtually anything that moves fast on the ground.

Friday morning when she caught a mouse on first snap I was so proud of her! -- Until I realized she wasn't going to present me with her "gift." Instead she was savoring it for herself, taking it out to the backyard to finish off.

Then it hit me -- I've got mice/rat pellet poison down in the house and this mouse could have ingested… Continue

Dooley -- Two Week Update

Well, two weeks ago last night I brought Dooley to my home for fostering until placement in an adoption rescue. I can't believe I actually had to look at the calendar to see how long ago it was -- it feels as if he's been a part of my family all his life!

Of course there are little spats with the others, but they don't last long. Dooley rarely instigates or joins in when one of my others is in a bad mood. He'd rather walk away a few feet, turn around and smile! Poof! Situation… Continue

THE STORY OF DOOLEY - TRI-COLORED FLUFFY

"There is a character named Dooley in the Mitford Series by Jan Karon. He is a young boy that is given up by his mother, comes to live with a pastor, grows up to be a fine person. This elderly woman, Miss Sadie sees the potential in Dooley and sets up a million dollar trust fund for him when he reaches 21. You ask where is this story going??? You saw the potential in this dog and gave him a new lease on life, which is priceless."

The above was sent to me in an email from an… Continue

Dooley -- Okay, Gang, let's talk!

After a rough weekend, and 4 hours on the road Monday night to get Dooley, as he is now named, life is getting back to wonderful! He's an absolute joy of a fur ball -- and OMG! does he have the fur! It's everywhere, in my coffe cup, bed, car, on my clothes -- oh, well, it's been said that no outfit is complete without pet hair!

I've tried my best to get photos of his "stubby" legs, but he won't stand still long enough. He's just so happy to be someplace where there are others to play… Continue

UPDATE -- TRI -COLORED FLUFFY IN KILL SHELTER

SUCCESS! I finally found a licensed Kansas rescuer that would allow me to sign out the Tri-Colored Fluffy under her license number as a foster on her organization's behalf! I will be picking the dog up afterall, just not as soon as I had hoped, because of the red tape we've had to go through all day to find someone who was willing to work with me sight unseen.

After about 30 days of fostering and assessment in my home for quirks, habits, traits, etc., he will be available for… Continue

Exciting news

We'll be picking up our very own Cardigan in little over a week! We'll most likely be getting a male and these are our top two on the list. I'll be sure to post more pictures of the litter soon.

Le-Le makes her debut in Country Living Magazine June 2009

Le-Le has now make her official debut in Country Living Magazine. She is on page 117 and again on 118. We photographed our house for CL and I wrote about her experience back in March. Always fun to see a corgi in print!
