Winter Indoor Games

For those of you who don't know - Bindi and I (Denise) are from Nebraska, and we are in the middle of quite a cold snap (they are forecasting a wind chill of -39 F on Sunday!).

We got her home!

Well, it has been an extremely long two days. We picked our baby up from the cargo shipping facility (i.e. airport) Friday night. She was scared, covered in poo, and starving, but she made it okay. We got her home, bathed her, fed her, and played with her. Yesterday was her first full day with us, and she's clearly bonded with us. She alternatively sleeps hard and plays hard. Got our 7 week pictures today

Ein turned 7 weeks old yesterday, and our breeder sent us some photos today. Every week, she gets more and more adorable. Her ears are standing up now, and she's starting to turn a lovely orange color. We still have 16 days until she comes to live with us, and I don't know if I can wait that long!

The Good, the Bad & the Snugly - A week with Stanley

Well, it's official - 1 week down with lil Stanley. The week has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride. I was prepared for puppy motherhood to be tiring. Life with Gibson: 14 weeks old

This past weekend my husband and I took Gibson to a forest preserve to do some hiking! He absolutely loved it, he's definitely an outdoors pup :) He loved going down this hill to see the river. So Remy has been doing really well with his potty training, walking, getting to know his surroundings, & everything, but one thing he has a problem with is the excessive nipping & biting. Gibson is officially 3 months old today! He has had an exciting few days.

Life with Gibson: 11 weeks old

My Gibson is 11 weeks today! He's getting so big..I swear he goes in his crate at night and comes out a different puppy :) And he's looking...chunkier? Is this normal for growing puppies? Everyone is commenting on what a chunk he is (maybe because he waddles), but I know I do not overfeed. The area around his neck especially, but I think that might be normal for a corgi? Ugh!

So I thought Gibson was an allstar at crate training..but yesterday I started smelling pee when I was sitting on the floor next to his crate, and today it was really bad and he stunk of pee! So I decide to investigate his crate and there it is under his bedding, a nice wet spot...and after pulling out his bedding I notice a huge stain on the bottom of it! Ugh! Life with Gibson: 10 weeks old

Well, little Gibson has had quite the week! He's still doing fabulously with the potty training and crate training..and learning a few basic commands (sit, stay, lay down). He can be a little mean at times though, which worries me, even though I know it's just the way he plays. Gibson's first weekend

Well, we went and picked up Gibson this Saturday as planned :) He's the cutest puppy ever, I swear. And he's so incredibly smart. He's already learned 'come' and 'no' and he's only had *knock on wood* one accident in the house! So Proud!

Today I took Didi to the neighbors house. They have two daughters and they both adore Didi, so I try to bring her around every once in awhile.

I was so proud. She ran around with them at their heels without trying to bite or nip at them. She didn't get mouthy at all! The little one was a little rough petting her (she was more of the "patting" type then the "stroking" type.) but my little trooper took it all in stride. She looked so wistful when it was time to go. Teenage Puppy

Well Banzai is hitting the adolescent stage. How can we tell? The biting. You can be sitting on the couch with your hands resting in your lap, and he'll charge up his stairs just to attack and gnaw on your hands. We remove his steps from the couch and set him down on the floor. He then walks a little ways and pees. Why yes, the good old defiance pee. Puppy Romper Room

I have discovered that a local pet store in Portland (Planet Dog) does something called Puppy Romper Room for an hour a day on Saturday and Sunday. This is really great because I was kind of at a loss for ideas on how to socialize Penny. I don't know anyone in the area with dogs, and whenever we've gone to the park and tried to meet dogs there, Penny is very shy. Well, honestly, almost terrified. Banzai's Weekend

First off just let me say that I love this dog. Lovelovelovelovelove.....

Secondly, OMFG* he takes it out of you! I feel tired constantly but I am happy at the same time. Strange...

Bringing him home was easy. Banzai slept through the later half of our trip. But he was thirsty and wanting something to chew on at first. He loves his PetStages teething stick, I think it is his favorite toy. Well next to the small Bobo toy.

The Cheez-it Trauma incident.

Well, today we went for a walk at a rather unusual time for Cheez. This time during the day the lawn people and other city workers are about and I usually time it so that Cheez-it is inside to escape the over-excitement. Today is the day that I get to visit Banzai. I cannot take him home till 2 more weeks. I am so excited I can hardly think straight. I have his bag ready and packed with goodies. Oh dog park finally!

Finally finished with his shots I took Cheez-it to the dogpark. It's huge and I think he had a blast. Here is an example of it's hugeness.
