Stairs, the Vet, and Bush Jumping

Well quite a few new events in the last few days. Ceiro got his first bath this weekend. [as you can see in the couple of pics I posted] He wasn't real fond of it but he did ok with it. Later that same day he discovered how to "work" the stairs. So I had to stick a gate up. I am letting him go up them with me, but not coming down yet. His balance is much better but I'm worried he might tumble coming down.

Today he had his first visit to the vet. Just his next round of vaccinations.… Continue

20 weeks - my kisser, magnet & alarm clock + new corgi designs

My little Gibson is 20 weeks old now, and finally done w/his puppy vaccinations! Yay! Our vet appointment was last night, and he did so well. The last time we went (5 weeks ago), he was such a little jerk! He kept biting the vet. She had to bring in a 'handler' to give him his shots..and then that weekend he bit my mother-in-law when she was picking him up! It must have been a short phase though.. Since then we've passed obedience and he's been socialized a bit more.. This visit he was a sweet… Continue

DogConomy

I was reading the news feeds today, the information junky that I am and I came across an article saying that pets are feeling the economic pinch too.

I can certainly relate, I had to postpone my cat getting her tooth extracted because things were getting a little hard pressed. When it comes between my mom getting a root canal and the cat getting a tooth yanked out, mom wins, hands down, and that's unfortunate.

The article said that people were missing appointments, not filling… Continue

nom nom nom...

So Remy has been doing really well with his potty training, walking, getting to know his surroundings, & everything, but one thing he has a problem with is the excessive nipping & biting. He's a little 12-week old puppy so of course he's going to be teething & wanting to chew on everything. I can sympathize for the poor little boy. ): I've been trying to use a suggested method of saying "OW!" in a high-pitched tone just like a dog & ignoring him until he's calm. It's been… Continue

Life with Gibson: 10 weeks old

Well, little Gibson has had quite the week! He's still doing fabulously with the potty training and crate training..and learning a few basic commands (sit, stay, lay down). He can be a little mean at times though, which worries me, even though I know it's just the way he plays. He will herd us and run up and growl at us and bite at our feet..we've tried lots of techniques to get him to stop but nothing has really worked yet. So, today I sent in registration for puppy obedience at our park… Continue

Female Corgi UTI Issues

Sandy is a 6 year old female and has experienced a barrage of medical problems in the last two years. She herniated two disks in her back and had back surgery a little over 1 year ago. Luckily she recovered and is doing well although she has lingering nerve damage in one rear leg. Since her surgery, she has 5 urinary track infections. Her most recent diagnosis was this past Friday. It seems that she cannot go 3-4 months without experiencing a UTI. In two weeks (after the antibiotic course) we… Continue

First Time Sickness

I woke up this morning to a soiled kennel, about 3-4 spots of vomit on the kitchen floor, and 2-3 runny potty spots on the downstairs bathroom floor.

It's official, I suppose. Roscoe's sick!

You wouldn't know it to look at him, he's completely as full of energy as ever. He started having diarrhea late Sunday night - he was unable to hold it during the night as he usually is. I didn't feed him Monday morning, gave him lots of water, and he seemed to be better Monday night.… Continue

Big Day Tomorrow + First Vet Appointment

Tomorrow is the big day! We get to pick up Bear (aka Kuma). We've been preparing ourselves for this day for nearly three months now and have been preparing our newly-moved into apartment for two weeks. It feels like there's still so much to do before our flight takes off at 6:55 from Sacramento International. We land in Ontario International (Southern Cali) around 8:30, will rent a car, drive to PetSmart, pick up a crate, cover the back seats with trash bags, sheets & towels (in case of… Continue

Funny looking squirrel

Cheez-it had his second to last vet appointment today. Everything went well and she said that his inguinal hernia is looking like it has healed up on it's own. I was told that could happen and in his case it probably would. He got some shots (he hates them) and some new 10+ lbs advantage (which he needs). I keep finding random fleas on him once a day or so, but I have bathed him alot in the past month and I only notice a flea when he comes inside. I give him a good check-over through all his… Continue
