A day in Carlsbad

Today was such a beautiful day but too hot to go inland, so we took the dogs to the ocean town of Carlsbad instead. Carlsbad has a great downtown area that is nice to stroll around in and visit all kinds of shops. We walked along the ocean for awhile. It was beautiful and we met lots of dogs, even a cute corgi named Ein.

Here is Sid with his "mom" (my daughter) with our view of the ocean:…

First time at the beach!

Hi! This is Sidney the Corgi. I had a really big day today! It was that big fundraiser for the San Diego Humane Society that I wrote about last month. All the humans in my house plus me and the old corgi mix, Bruce, went on a really long car ride. When we finally stopped the car the air smelled different, kind of salty. It was also cooler that it was at home. It felt great to stretch my muscles! We walked toward a park where there were more humans and dogs than I have ever seen in one place.… Continue

"Disney movie "Little Dog Lost"

I really wanted to thank the folks who mentioned the World of Disney movie "Little Dog Lost" on this board! I searched and finally found and ordered a copy. It arrived this week, and my husband, daughter and I watched it Sunday evening. From the opening sequence (which instantly transported my husband and I back to our childhoods) to the closing credits it was a wonderful journey! I had forgotten how good those old movies could be. I was completely into the story ("No Candy, go back!") and that… Continue

The Big Corgi Meet-up!

This weekend I took Sidney and Bruce to the hugest corgi play date I have ever seen! Here in San Diego we have a Corgi Meet-up group, and once a month they get together at various dog parks or beaches. This was the first one I was able to go to, and it was so much fun. There were 60 corgis and corgi mixes there! The funniest thing was when a "herd" of corgis would break out in a chase! Sidney got to be lead dog in a couple of chases, and boy is he fast! We saw cardigans too, though the vast… Continue

Dog's rules for living

My friend sent me an email today that included Dog's rules for living. People should take advice from our furry friends!

1. When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

2. Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

3. Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

4. Take naps.

5. Stretch before rising.

6. Run, romp, and play daily.

7. Thrive on attention and let people… Continue

Our cat was lost!

Hi Everyone! It's me, Sidney again! Things have been pretty quiet around here lately. I've been going to my obedience classes and some days I pay attention, and some days I am just too distracted. We have a great time, though.

The only excitement came last weekend when one of my toys...I think the humans call it "cat"...snuck out of the house when nobody was looking. See, this cat lives inside only and it not allowed outside. Boy, do I feel lucky because I get to go outside… Continue

Post this low (very low) on the refrigerator door!

My sister sent this to me; I thought it was perfect!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To be posted VERY LOW on the refrigerator door - pet nose height.
Dear Dogs:
The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the… Continue
Renaissance Faire!
Hi! It's Sidney the Corgi again...
Here is what I got to do today! The humans got dressed up in funny clothes and took me and the old Corgi in the car for a ride. You know what, the car is fun now! I used to be afraid but now I know it means going someplace fun. Unless we end up at the vet. The vet is NOT fun, but they do give me a cookie if I am a good puppy.
Today we did not go to the vet, though. We went to a big park where something cool was going on. Mom called it a… Continue
San Diego Humane Society Walk for Animals
Hello from Sidney!
Whew, I'm still pretty tired from the Big Walk we had yesterday. It was lots of fun, and I'm excited because we're going to take another one! This one is for the San Diego Humane Society, where they help all kinds of dogs and cats and other animals!
This walk os going to be at Mission Bay, which is part of the Ocean. I've never been to the Ocean, but I hear it is really cool, even if the water tastes funny. I can't wait to see for myself. Hey, I wonder… Continue
Paws in the Park Fundraiser
Hi..Sidney here again!
Today was such an exciting day! My people got up extra-early for a day when they don't go to work. Usually they like to stay in bed and get grumpy when I wake them up to play! Anyway, we got up early today and took me and the two old dogs to a BIG park! And there were SO MANY people and dogs there! There was so much to sniff that I was going crazy...I was in heaven! My people met up with one of their friends, who have two adorable and very well behaved beagles, and… Continue
Eucalyptus hike
Hello...Sidney here again! It is still "spring break" for the human kids in my family, which means they get to hang out all day with me and the old guys. I love it! It means extra walks! Today we drove to a forest of really tall trees called "eucalyptus" trees. They smell funny. But there were lots of trails in this forest and we climbed up really high! I'm a short dog, so everything seems high to me, but this was the highest I had ever been! On this hike we only met a few people, but they all… Continue
Easter Sunday
It's me, Sidney the Corgi again! Today my people were away in the morning and afternoon, so I got some serious naptime in. Good thing too, because when they got home they said it was walk time! Oh boy! Not just any walk time, but we were going out to the lagoon! After Mom unloaded the back of the SUV, me and the other two dogs, the old ones, were loaded into the car and off we went! It was late afternoon when we started out. I had never been to this lagoon before, and it was full of so many… Continue
My first blog
OK, so I've never done this before, but there's a first time for everything!
Sidney came to live with us on January 4th 2008. Now he is 8 months old and he's quite the character.
SIDNEY:
My new family is great! They have taken me to obedience class, where almost all of the dogs were bigger than I am! I had to bark a lot to keep them from stepping on me, but the humans frown on that, so I had to learn to be quiet during class. I guess it is important to learn how to… Continue
