Acupuncture for Corgis

Ozu is back to his old, cranky self.  My pace is the rhythm he walks to. And he is walking again.  Two and half weeks ago, his back legs were shaking so much that the little guy was finding it hard to make his way down the street.  Found a vet who does acupuncture...   The first session worked wonders!   Legs straightened and became sturdy.  He could run again.  Went again today.  He is one happy guy!

A question someone maybe able to answer for me?

I read about Grand Mal Seizure's I have noticed when Oscar eats his dry food he bolts it down and does not chew it!. Oscar starts to I think choke and this goes on for not very long he then settles down. We have started to half the portion and give it to him in stages this seems to work it has happened with his Barf Diet wet food as well we just try to settle him and it stops?. My Question is when this happens is it just because Oscar bolts his food down and it gets stuck or is it something…

Life changes

Today I got a call for an interview for a job that I have been trying to get since I graduated. I am so excited and hope I get it. If I get it I know Luigi will not like it. Even though I will have night shifts I will have to sleep during the day. He won't be able to get my attention 24/7. I feel bad about it, but I know I have to do this so I can take care of him and myself. I just hope he doesn't get too mad at me if I get it.

New Puppy

I finally got a little guy 4 weeks ago, he will be 12 weeks in a few days. My 10 year old Dylan passed away Jan 29th and my new guy is Dylan II. He is my first pup since I got my last one at 18 mo. I am really having a hard getting him not to bite and his teeth are the sharpest puppy teeth I have ever come across. Any ideas on how to get him to chew and bite on something beside me?

September 11, always remember!

Just sitting here thinking about how lucky I am to have great dogs and family (not necessarily in that order :) but will always remember 9/11 when the USA was attacked. I was sitting watching the Today show with Sparty on my lap as usual when it happened. My son came home from an early class and asked me why I was crying and I told him, " I think we have just been attacked". It was so sad to think about all the people and dogs just going about their ordinary day who lost their lives. It…

Bush fire season In Australia

Was about to leave work yesterday and one of the residents at work come via my desk and told me there were some brush fires out our way and had got out of control and were we anywhere near the area!. I rushed for the train and on the way home the mood in the train was rather panic as people on the train were calling families hoping they were safe I called Paul he said he could see the smoke of the fires in the distance as the train got closer to Richmond where I park the car I could see the…

Bogart's "Gotcha Day" was a year ago, on September 10, 2012

And it feels like we've had him forever.  We could not have wished for a more wonderful dog than our Bogart!  He was six months old when we picked him up from a breeder in Dahlonega, Georgia (Walnut Creek Farms)... Here's what he looked like on his first day with us, and now a year later...…

Angie went to hounds on the hill-a local event held in Puyallup every August

My little girl Angie enjoyed herself so much. We came home with bags of treats and toys...Large Bags! She stayed by my side the whole entire time(thank you obedience training!)and she was over all the best companion to have there. She met another corgi named Howie and the two became fast friends. You can check out Hounds on the Hill on facebook and I hope to see more corgis there next year! And to anyone who came, Thank you for supporting canine companions everywhere :)…

ZiwiPeak

Does anyone feed ZiwiPeak? I feed Wellness puppy now, and Hank does great on it, but ZiwiPeak just seems like a better food. My only concern is the high protein content... I know corgis are prone to weight again. Any advice is appreciated!

Age does not weary them!.

Today for the 1st time is Oscar's 10 years & 9 months I noticed a look of frustration in his eyes!. He looked at me as if to say dad I'm not a puppy anymore! I'm near on 77 next Jan 4th!. He has always been a puppy in my eyes from the day I brought him home from the breeder he has changed my life I think for the better!. I thinks the roles have changed now it was if I was having a bad day this wet snout was always there licking his dads hand as if to say don't worry dad it will be okay.…

I'm a bundle of new puppy nerves.

This week begins the three week countdown in bringing Weston bear home. The nerves are starting to set in ... Will I be able to handle a new puppy? Will I be able to raise the best puppy possible in a loving and caring home? I can see why people think of their furbabies as their own small children, the joys, the struggles, the unrelenting fear that man I might screw this up. I guess it's just a reflection on who I am and what I know my type A personality to be like in wanting everything to go… Continue

Update on Winnie

Well, It's been a long summer.

We waited 2 weeks after the nosebleed before attempting Winston's pre-op blood work again.

The results were not good. He was anemic. Anemic to the point of considering a transfusion. His BUN was down to 56 from 78 which was some improvement. However, he was now needing Tramadol twice a day, Rimadyl once a day & an essential oil mix for pain…

Back in the Crate

I've been letting Ellie sleep outside of her crate for about two months, and she's been doing great.  She wakes me up way too early (5am), but no accidents or anything in the night.  Well, that all changed last week when my mom came to stay with us.

Ellie has never shared the apartment with anyone but me. I expected her to be upset that someone was in our "den", even if she loves that person to death. And she does adore my mom.  But I was shocked when she pooped in my bedroom on…

Lilly's not feeling well

This morning Lilly threw up, but then she ate breakfast and seemed to be fine.  Hubby called me this evening that she wouldn't eat dinner and won't even take her favorite nums.  So for right now I'm just hopeing it's a tummy thing and all will be well tomorrow.  Otherwise we will be going to the vet instead of the corgi meet up.  She's resting quietly and will go outside to do her business.... thanks in advance for any words of advice.

New Activity Sponsored By AKC

This is something new...an event called Barn Hunt and it's sponsored by the AKC and open to all breeds and mixed breeds...it even earns a title.  With corgis and their constant looking for something to get into/find this might be fun for anyone looking for something new and fun to do with your buddy.

Heck of a week:(

Hope this doesn't continue...lost 2 cats due to rat poison which we NEVER use and the closest neighbor is about 3 miles away. This included my baby cat KK that found us...this also happened about 20 miles from here and we think someone is trying to poison coyotes and maybe something ate it and wandered onto the property and died. The one was an outside shed cat and until KK got sick and we took him to the vet we had NO idea.

Cougar sighting are rare around here BUT 2…

Tick season!.

Good morning all,

Sydney Australia has had the warmest Winter on record! and this means tick season has started early and vets are warning us to be vigilant and on guard with our pets in high tick areas!!!. Paul and I check Oscar & Sam on a daily basis and we have changed their frontline plus to advantix  for both boys!. It seems because Oscar is lower to the ground he seems to be more of a target than Sam??? so we do it fortnightly rather than monthly now!. We have a tick and…

Three Corgi friends went on a LONG hike at Red Top Mountain State Park

Met up with John and Angela, and their Corgis Dora (Cardi) and Dylan (Pem) for a hike at Red Top Mountain State Park, where we had not hiked before.  Other friends had told me there was a 6-mile trail that was nice so we set out and it took TWO AND A HALF HOURS!! Much longer than we intended or expected.  But we made it, and so did our Corgis.  We made several stops along the way for rest and water, and even climbed down to a tiny beach area.  Next time we are picking a shorter…
