First dog park visit

Took Meeko to the dog park for the first time today!! He absolutly loved it! at first he would just run form the bigger dogs and hide behind me but then after a couple hours he was chasing them and just had a blast!! He did soo good. Now i realized just how trained his is. He would come when called and if he took someone elses ball id tell him to drop it and he did. The boxer that was there kept taking other peoples tennis balls and would take off and not drop it. Eventually they left when…

Autumn Woods Walk, photo diary

The weather has been AWFUL here in PA.   Wettest September ever, and we often have wet Septembers so that's saying a lot.   The leaves are turning and they'll be down before you know it.  So we squeezed in a walk in the deepening dusk on Jack's favorite trail today.  The Corgis are very lucky to live somewhere where they can walk in woods and fields every day.  Of course they just think it's normal.

These shots are all in the park right outside our door.  The fading light…

Conversations.....

So, I talk to my nubs. This, I am sure, is reasonably normal. (I talk to the cats too). I also, however, find myself ANSWERING myself on behalf of the corgi nubs.

Me: "are you ready to go for a walk?"
Also Me: "Yes, yes! We can't wait!"

Etc.

Anyone care to vote? Nuts or not?

cure for the blues

today at work my mind wandered back to mar.19 2010, that was the day our little corgi mix" chucky" passed. He was an incredible dog, good companion and all that.started to feel a little blue,a little sad.Well I got home, opened the door, and there they were, abbie the beagle and benson the corgi,my blues disappeared ,the unconditional love displayed by these two is incredible, like they can sense when you are down. needless to say they took me out for a very long walk. all is right in the world…

Chew Toys

I asked John to get Kahlan a couple of pig ears and she loves them but I read (on these forums I think I can't recall off hand though) that they can make dogs sick and vomit. Also someone mentioned deer antlers as chews. I looked around and read up a lil on them. If what I read is true about lasting around 6 months and not splintering like bones and being low fat then it is worth the higher initial cost and having to buy them online.

What have you all heard about antler chews…

Tiny pup in a big world

With Kahlan being 4 months I thought that it was about time she checked out the dog park. So we picked up Aspen my 'pocket' Siberian Husky and headed over. I was sort of nervous about her meeting other dogs but Aspen loves everyone. And of course Aspen dove in sniffing and getting to know her new sister. To my surprise Kahlan was not shy and all over Aspen. I wish I snapped a shot of it but it was so funny and cute. Aspen was in the back seat and Kahlan in the front seat facing backwards…

My dining room.

I don't think I have officially admitted it to myself but on Friday I moved all the crystal out of the china cabinet to get it ready to sell. We already no longer have a table in there, just don't use the room. But in the long run I think I am doing it to have that room available for rescues....OOPPS there I said it out loud...

i will always be sad i missed out on this little guy (yes, this is an update, so dont mind the old date xD)

a while back, i was supposed to get this puppy.

i was soooo very excited and nothing came of it due to landlords being butt heads haha.

it was a blessing in disguise though because i hadnt looked up anything about the breed and thought that corgis were more so a lap dog than a serious herding one, haha. whew, would i have been surprised!

still, i wish he was available when i could get a puppy, because boy oh boy he is the cutest! (those huge ears!)…

Walking a corgi

I love walking my dogs, right now it is fall the trees are turning there are leaves on the ground it is cool and crisp and every person(s) we meet asks me about my dogs. My Beagle mix and my cardi get so much attention. They are such a pair! It seems that not many people here are aware of the cardigan corgis existence. I think that I will try to change that. Almost everyone we meet on walkies wants to pet and meet my cardi, thankfully he has that wonderful disposition, once they meet my… Continue

Bento has officially graduated from BravoPup #2 class!  Yeah!  It wasn't too long ago when Bento was in Pup#1 class trying to learn sit, down, and stay.  Now, he knows place, heel (when he wants to), and a longer stay.

We're so proud of our little fearless corgi!

Something I don't understand.

Why won't LO go outside by himself. Is it something we did when he was younger. I can leave to door open and he "may" step outside but come straight in unless I go out there with him. I have to say "poo poo" or "pee pee" the neigbors must laugh everytime they hear me.

Found and returned

As Harrison and I were outside taking a potty break I saw a little girl carrying a white doggy, her mom opens the gate they have a brief conversation and then the girl puts the dog down and she goes inside. The little doggy was left outside on the side of the street, I whistled over to the dog and she quickly came running over to us. I instantly recognized her! She belonged to the ppl who live behind my house and I had seen her out before.  She was the sweetest little thing and Harrison…

Corgi for adoption in Iowa

Noticed a sweet looking Corgi for adoption today on Craigslist Cedar Rapids, Iowa...wish I had room, but still settling in my newest pup, Becca :)

In the beginning...

I've always wanted a corgi. and i mean ALWAYS. Growing up in NYC, i would see them on the streets and they simply grabbed my attention. I used to refer to them as the 'teddy bear dogs'. As a child, i never granted a 'teddy bear dog. So as an adult, i was determined to have one of my own.

I routinely check my local craiglist, because i help with several dog rescue groups. Typically i'll foster them for a bit while we arrange transport. Well, a few months ago i saw another…
