I AM SO EXCITED!!!@>>@!>!>!>!!!

Today is the first day that Jackson has gone into his crate by himself. And he's done it 4 times to nap. Makes me so happy :D :D :D

He's been home for almost two weeks! I think he definitely knows his crate is his "safe place" though I'm shaking it up a bit by getting him a bigger kennel this week. The crate I have for him now is maybe about 20" long which I admittedly bought on a whim because I needed something. But I figure now is the time, while he's still learning, to get… Continue

Sleepy Day

Sherlock must have been very tired today! We went on a long walk, even with the freezing temperature, we bundled up nicely. We got home at about 10 or 11 and he fell right asleep. He is still sleeping now, he hasnt barely moved. This is strange becasue even when we come home from a walk, he still has alot of energy and wants to go for more. This wasn't one of his longest walks, even. Is it the weather or is age getting to him? He is only 2, so I bet it is the weather. Come to think of it, I am… Continue

How to Exercise (from inside) Two Hyper Herding Dogs Who Love the Cold

1) Find cheap toy (in this case, football that neighbor kids threw over the fence)

2) Let dogs outside

3) Throw football to far corner of yard

4) Go back inside and watch last night's DVR'ed Desperate Housewives while dogs play chase with the football for at least 45 minutes

(I promise I'm not lazy so much as I don't enjoy getting frostbite in the lovely 9 degree weather we are having tonight)

Sidney's Beach Day

I was inspired by Liz and Tag's beach adventures, and so on a sunny Sunday afternoon I loaded the car up with three teenagers and a very excited Welsh Corgi. I know he was excited because the whirlwind of fur that formed inside my car when we put the windows down was much bigger than usual.

Liz gave me great directions and we found the parking area with no problem, only 30 minutes drive from home. Being a native Southern Californian, I'm used to the beaches being packed, but even on… Continue

Bath Time is not fun for Sherlock

Last night sherlock got into a great big mess, and at 11:00 we had to give him a bath! He hates baths, and tries to get out of the tub. He splashes water all over you, and gets you smelly like a wet dog. (haha). He especially hates when we put the shampoo on. We have no idea why becasue we dont go anywhere near his eyes. He starts getting really hyper and goes crazy when we pull out the shampoo, though. Even though it is really hard to give him a bath, at least he smells good afterwards!

I can't believe my baby's a year old!

Murphy turned one year old on December 26th and I cannot believe it. I remember when I found his breeder's website and I saw his cute little puppy face. I knew that he was the one I wanted. I showed Chris while he was at work and he just happened to pick the same puppy that I did. I knew it was meant to be. He was meant to be ours. I'll never forget how excited I was to pick him up from the airport. I waited and waited all day in anticipation to get him, but we had to wait till 11 PM because… Continue

This Christmas, Sherlock made out like a bandit! Under the christmas tree, there were three presents for him, and very good ones too! He got two very fuzzy and soft squeaky toys, and huge rawhide bone and doggy candy canes, that he recieved each day for 12 days before christmas! Sherlock really likes his new polar bear plush and loves chewing on the rawhide he got that he hasnt even finished yet! What a great christmas!

Snow Day Bust

It was a great plan, but you know what they say about plans. I plan, God laughs. It seemed like the perfect addition to Tags recent adventures: A snow day! I admit that all the great snow photos taken by people who actually *live* in the white stuff made me a little jealous. I haven't lived in snow since I was 7 years old; my children have never even seen snow fall from the sky (the soap bubbles at Disneyland do not count). What could be more fun than taking the kids and Tag for a snow day,… Continue

Conflicted

Early this morning I found two stray dogs running around the neighborhood. They had collars but no tags. I spent all morning calling rescues, trainers, vets, and driving around all the surrounding neighborhoods looking for "Lost" posters. I posted an ad on craigslist and even went to all the surrounding pet supply stores that were having adoption fairs to look for help. Sadly, I could not find their owner and none of the rescues had room. I just had to take them to the animal shelter, which… Continue

First time alone in a LONG time...

So, I had to take Beavis and Butthead to the groomers for a bath and blowdry. A few days ago they jumped in the bathtub with me - weirdos - and I noticed last night that they were both a little itchy. After looking them over it occurred to me that the bubble bath I had in my bath probably made them itchy. The temperature here today is a brisk 13 degrees WITHOUT the wind chill and it's snowing, so I didn't want to bathe them here risking they might get too cold.

I dropped them off a… Continue

Clue, three weeks to go

Poor thing; she is really uncomfortable now and she still has a long way to go. I should be able to feel puppy movement in another week or so, but right now it's all belly. I'm feeding her lots of small meals a day because she can't eat a lot at once anymore and I am worried about her being underweight nursing what is obviously either a big litter or a bunch of BIG puppies. She can still hop up on the couch but she moans and groans a lot when… Continue

Goldy's FRAP scares Bear !!!

When Bear and Goldy are playing and she gets the urge to frap, chickenboy Bear leaps up onto the couch and plops himself into my lap! If I try to push him off, he resists and looks into my eye as if to say, "SHE'S LOST IT!!! Look at her running around the room! She is NOT right!! SAVE ME!!!!!"

They crack me up.
