This weekend was a United Kennel Club event. It was hosted by the same group as the event we attended in November, so I was excited that it was going to be a nice small group for our first attempt at the Agility 2 level. The Agility 2 level includes obstacles that are not used at the first level, such as, the pause box, the weave poles, and the sit-jump-sit contact. All three of these were used this weekend. The Agility 2 level only allows two attempts for each contact before resulting in a…

Baby boy was just dropped off for his procedure. I was feeling very guilty as I prepared to leave him at the vet BUT then he whizzed on a pillar in their office. Way to strengthen my resolve Logi! The very worst part? Not feeding the gang this morning. Twinkie and Logan were looking at me like I had lost my mind while I was making breakfast for my son. What did they get? Nothing! Everyone who knows anything knows that corgis need their noms or will die of starvation within the hour!…

So today I stopped by the pet store that's really close to my house, just to check out what they have. Considering that it wasn't a huge store, I was really quite impressed that they had 2 aisles of different premium grain free foods! They had canned and dry stuff. And the lady at the counter who looked like she might be the owner, when I asked her what she suggested, said she recommended grain free. She also mentioned things like, feeding grain free isn't more expensive cuz you have to feed…

I know it's not a Corgi (a Border Collie was chosen) but it's pretty funny. Happy St. Patick's day to all!

So I was driving home from the grocery store today. On the way home is a dog park. As I was sitting at the light there is this small brown and white dog walking with a bigger dog towards the fence. I am sitting there thinking bulldog? It was rather portly and at that distance it looked like it had the awkward bulldog walk. The light is long and just as I am…

I am on such a rush right now! Ace and I just came back from a lovely first glance at an agility class, on a terrain about half an hour away by car. I have never wanted to learn how to drive (and own my own car) so badly until now - I want to go back!
We were allowed to drop in on a beginner's agility course, and eventually the trainer asked us if we'd like to have a go. I was so elated, I jumped into the ring without a second thought. Ace did extremely well on the long-line…

Two years later and I thought that it might be interesting to take a trip down Puppy Expenses Lane again. This time I hope to see if the myth that a second dog costs substantially less the the first has any weight. Some of you may remember that our first puppy, Killian, cost us $2,857.70 once we had tallied up all the expenses (see the original blog entry for the…

Last night Brodie was restless after his neutering and wouldn't settle down to sleep. So, at midnight, I woke my husband up, we pulled an extra mattress down into the living room floor so I could sleep there and Brodie would sleep next to me without us having to worry about him jumping and hurting himself. Good plan, right? Wrong. It worked for about 45 minutes, then he got too hot and left me, heading…

Today was another marathon/whirlwind for us. We dropped Brodie off at the vet early this morning to be neutered (and chipped), then drove into town to play the waiting game at the hospital with my mother. As usual, it took them forever to get the paperwork in order to get her moved. We had to transport her to a skilled nursing facility to see if they can help her with her confusion there. Barely made it back to the vet in time to pick up Brodie. He is definitely not as tough as Kadi--whining…

Hello everyone,
It is with a sad heart that I have to announce that I am currently going through a very hard time at work right now and am experiencing a major cut in pay. So, with that being said, I have a 4 year old tri female and a 1 year old tri male (both are pem's) that I have less than 2 weeks to find good homes for (free). I was having issues a while back with the male always pulling puppy stuff around the female, but that has completely stopped and they are best friends now.…

Cocosette will be turning one year old next month! Time flies when a corgi is around. Feels like I've had her for much longer, can't imagine life without her. I've had two dogs in the past, Gertude who lasted 10 years and Laika for 16 years, and I loved those dogs like crazy. But I don't think either of them have ever been as much my dog as Cocosette has become.
When I was researching corgis before I got Cocosette, the most common warning I came across was not to overfeed…

Has anyone tried Trifexis. What are the thoughts out there on it? My vet recommended it. They are currently on Heartgard and Comfortis. It would be great if I could give only one pill to them. They always seem a little down after taking their meds. I am worried on whether or not it really works for heartworm. Several years ago I had a dog that the vet put on Revolution, at that time it was the new rage on an all in one. My poor chow mix ended up with heartworm. After that, the vet…

Ellie and I have been thoroughly enjoying the warm weather. This is her first spring, but Yuki definitely knows that it's much warmer than usual for this time of the year. As a result, Ellie and I have been going for 1-2 mile walks each morning. Ellie knows that when she sees me get the baby stroller that it means she's going to be going for a walk! She shakes and whimpers with excitement as she waits for me to get the leash and is all smiles when I finally open the door.…

Well, it finally happened:D I am now an official momma to a FRAP Corgi! I was in the restroom and I hear Ziggy getting off of our bed (don't worry, it's so low to the ground that I doubt he could hurt himself if he tried) and then click, click, click, of his nails, walking into the living room.. Pause..... Click, click, click to the kitchen (I assume.. It's the only way his clicking could have gotten quieter with how our apartment is set up) Click, click, click…

I almost feel like a crazy person because I've emailed so many people looking for a corgi. Did any one else email a lot of people looking for your corgi? If so how many? I'm just trying to make myself not feel as psycho, haha. I emailed all of them exactly one month ago today, with the exception of about 3 of them, and only one has emailed me back so far. However, she said she is going to BREED her dogs in July, meaning they probably won't be born until August and won't be ready to take home…

Well, it's been a while! We've had our ups and downs, but for the most part it's been all going very well. Poppy and I finished the shy dog class and it was excellent. Her corgi came out near the end when we started on the agility toys and she barked her head off when the other dogs went before. She didn't even need food motivation to get over the A-frame! I was debating signing her up for agility next, but instead decided to do general obedience. The class is just okay. 10 dogs (up from 5…
