It seems like it's the season of puppies and new dogs! My husband and I have been toying with the idea of getting another corgi. I was recently looking at breeders nearby and came across a site of BEAUTIFUL corgis. And to top it off the breeder seemed incredibly responsible and reputable. So I put in an application for a puppy. No such luck, she had just sold the last one to its forever home. Shucks. BUT she did have the name of another breeder whose puppies were related to her puppies.…

Before getting on with the explanation, Cheez-it has gone 3 days now with NO accidents!!
I have a horrible Craigslist addiction, I routinely hunt for furniture, cars, and always glance at the pets section. have no idea why, mabye the allure of getting something for nothing, but more often than not you get something for something. I am fairly good at appraising cars, I like to purchase specific Mitsubishis that I know alot about and repair and resell them. It helps pass the time I…

Let's start in 2007... The bf and I finally made the decision to get a puppy. I've always been in love with PWCs. It took some convincing and about 100 pictures and a dozen research articles later he just adored the 'dopey-ness" and charming qualities of a corgi. He grew up with a golden retriever and loves big dogs, though, a little apartment would be cruel to any large breed.
Two months ago, I found a breeder in Southern California that I had several conversations with via email,…

Well, after some confusion over the past week, Riley will finally be arriving tomorrow night! He was supposed to be here last Tuesday, but unfortunately, things didn't work out. It was probably better in the long run. I had vet school finals until Thursday, and even though I had lined someone up to watch him for me until I was done, the time I would have spent going to the airport was better applied to studying physiology. It has all worked out in the end.
I feel bad for Riley…

Dogs as I know them devour food, objects, and the occasional live animal. You can prevent the latter two, unless the third is something you prefer, but the first is a requirement, and not an area where my dog excels. When I took him home he had a little bag of Eukenuba puppy food, it had very small bites and he was quite intrested in eating it. The first day I simply left the bowl down so he could eat when he wanted and get familier with it's location. I got some Eukenuba puppy food, the same…

So....
We got up early yesterday to drive to Auburn and get Blaze.... he has surpassed my wildest expectations. He is SOOOOOO intelligent, playful, stubborn, adorable, loving, and sweet. He has adjusted VERY WELL from being a free-roaming puppy on the farm to being an inside dog that is being crate-trained. I had to leave him for two hours yesterday for a meeting, and I was SO worried about him- but no problems... he did not pee/poo in his crate, and nothing was destroyed (I was…

We have a new addition to the family: Cody the BHT. Cody is 13 years old. His owner came to PetSmart yesterday and said she was looking for a home for him and she didn't want to "mess with him anymore." All of her answers to questions about him were curt and without emotion. After I got over being shocked and wanting to punch her lights out, I told her we'd take him. She brought him back to the store within about a half hour. He was filthy, had a nasty collar on, and a knotted up chain around…

I figured I'd do a little upkeep with this since I found this network. Ever since I began my studies at university, I've fallen in love with Pembroke Welsh Corgis and said that one day I'd have. Fast forward 7 years, two degrees later, a marriage, and our first new home and we are going to have our own little fur baby in about a month or month and a half.
For the past seven years there has been a boarder terrier mix at my family's home and my husband grew up with miniature…

Hi! This is Sidney the Corgi. I had a really big day today! It was that big fundraiser for the San Diego Humane Society that I wrote about last month. All the humans in my house plus me and the old corgi mix, Bruce, went on a really long car ride. When we finally stopped the car the air smelled different, kind of salty. It was also cooler that it was at home. It felt great to stretch my muscles! We walked toward a park where there were more humans and dogs than I have ever seen in one place.…

Foreword: Sorry for the post being so lengthy.
I am quite confidant that the little Cheez-butt (Cheez-it) knows when I expect him to fertalize. Outside I proclaim "Potty!!" and he starts circling his spot like an aircraft homing in on a target. Unfortunately he's one of those 1950's biplanes and this maneuver can take quite some time. When we play in the house I can tell when he needs to go, and take him out accordingly. However, when he is waking from a nap, which he always…

Well, we just picked Agro up from the Vet a few minutes ago. I'm happy to say that the procedure was a success and Agro is currently back home resting in his kennel. I was expecting him to be in a lot of pain but when they brought him out he was perfectly happy, showing signs of curiosity as he leaned in to take a whiff of the medication the vet was presenting us. When I saw that I giggled slightly and thought to myself, "Yeah, he's OK. I need to stop worrying." So I did and I have thus far…

well this is a first for me. And I thought she was such a good little girl...well she was so naughty today while i was out shopping. Lil Miss Annie kept herself busy today while I was gone digging up my carpet in front of the fireplace. Yep she dug for her little hearts content. At first when I seen it, it looked like a toy she tore apart till I got closer and seen my carpet in pieces...omg...lol! My husband said oh how cute her being a puppy. Ok, not cute but her being a puppy lets her off the…

You see me out your window.
What makes you so jealous?
Is it my endless supply of pupperoni's?
Do you not have any of these delicious meat sticks?
Perhaps it is your floppy boxer ears?
My chest is as white as new fallen snow.
My tail is docked perfectly so.
I am the king of street. With many snausage treats.
So continue to live in your personal hell haughty training dog.
Sit by as your owner makes…

My Griff is a Fluffy! I love him in all his fluffy glory. His ears have whispy, flyaway fur tendrils (so pretty)! Behind his ears crimps up when it gets wet, which a friend of mine once equated it with, "An 80's girl's hair!" And his lovely, undocked tail fur sweeps the ground like a broom.
HOWEVER...
All Fluffies need extra grooming, that's a given. I used to take Griff to the groomers roughly every 6 weeks, but once I started feeding him higher grade food, his coat…
