Before you know it Halloween will be here! Debating whether or not to bring Lance along trick or treating with the kids, that could be fun, or could be more work than fun. Not sure how he is going to like everyone dressed up in costumes! I think it would be fun to dress him up and bring him along for the walk. All the strange costumes could put Lance in a very barky mood. Hmmm...well I have awhile to think about it. What is everyone elses experience with Halloween and their corgi? Maybe I will…

Ok so, Didi and I were playing fetch on the driveway. I threw the ball and it went behind my car so that Didi had to go on the other side where I couldn't see her. Just as she went around the side, a motor cycle passed. She burst back into view barking and with her fur all sticking up.
I thought that the motorcycle sound bounced off the garage and sounded like it was coming from inside and startled her. I made her come to me and sit-stay while I went to go get the ball. As I was walking to…

Poor Didi had to have a flea bath today. She was very unhappy. She smells super clean though, and all the fleas that got on her when she was playing in the sand pit have fallen off, so it was worth it.
I've been sick the whole week so the puppy hasn't had any walks or park visits. She hasn't even gotten to go in the car while I made errands. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be feeling a lot better and we'll make it to the dog park.

Well we just got back from our family vacation in time for the Puyallup Fair. We live uncomfortably close to the fairgrounds so we haven't had a proper walk today because the town is now full of crazies and that isn't good to walk around in with scary drivers and weird people. We'll be going to the park alot I guess for the next few weeks.
Vacation was so much fun. Owen got LOTS of family time. We went up to La Conner and spent a few days bumming around Deception Pass. Owen got his…

I apprecaite being introducted to the concept of frapping - how well that describes what had previously been difficult to share.
Last night we had Hillary out with Peanut, our cocker-maltese and Hillary herded her from one end of the front year to the other! (Of course Peanut was not at all happy that Hillary was being so pushy!)
She seems to have a good share of Corgi genes for a Corgle.

Well we have successfully passed through our first heat cycle.. But as of late, we've moved and now I'm in a place with carpet.. so I am really dreading her having another. I heard that it isn't good to get a dog fixed after she's already gone through her first heat cycle.. Is this true? I want to get her fixed, but I was financially unable to... Not sure what to do? Also what's the procedure like for a female dog and how much would it run?
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

The new photo is here!
Rosey went Winners Bitch and Best Of Winners August 28th at Central Maine Kennel Club for a 3 point major towards her Championship! This leaves her needing one more Major to be a Champion! We are all pretty proud of our girl this year with all the lovely puppies of hers doing so well in the ring. GO ROSEY! Pictured with Joan Scott PHA and Jaqueline Stacy…

Wally's got an infection :( He's currently with the doctor for a few hours. They had to put him under anesthesia for a bit so they could drain the pus and whatnot from the infection.
He's gonna be walking around with some tube in his arm for the next few days so that the pus can drain. Boo :(

I was reminded today of a corgi trait... the rear end. I was watching Le-Le walk away from me and amazed at the cuteness quality. Being a cardigan it is all about the tail. Her tail was sashaying back and forth. Just a happy dog out in the world. Her tail goes in circles when she get excited. Her tail tells a story of how happy she is, up high and swaying as she walks or when nervous it goes down and under so she looks like a Pembroke. When she takes her wild runs it curls up tighter to her…

I remember seeing someone talk about soapless shampoo on here. I don't remember who. Most soapless shampoos are made of chemicals and aren't "real" soap. They have a lot of slip and don't leave residue, but they're also not very natural and can be kind of harsh on our furry ones.
Here's a recipe for soapless shampoo. It won't get soapsy or lathery, but it'll get your puppy as soft and clean as anything.
1 cup sulfonated castor oil
1 tbsp glycerin
1 tbsp mineral…

You'll have to excuse me if I seem pissed... it's, well, because I
AM. Some may agree with me, some may not, and this writing may sound harsh, but it's because I am upset and angry at the moment. Why?
Because my dog was viciously attacked yesterday by a dog that was not leashed.
Many areas have laws that state ALL dogs MUST be on a leash. These laws exists for a reason. They were not created to be a nuisance. Their purpose is to protect yourself, your dog and…

As of right now, I have two eight month old tri-colored corgis named Penelope and Lucille. They are my life! I wake up with them every morning and go to bed with them every night. They are half sisters and are the most beautiful creatures I have ever seen.
It's amazing to see how much animals can change your life, and even while I was on my honeymoon in Jamaica, I would have to roll up a towel and place it by me as I slept so I wouldn't cry about the dogs.
However, I WANT ANOTHER ONE!…

Greetings from way-too-sunny Southern California!
We're in a muggy heat wave here in San Diego. We left for our usual morning walk and I quickly realized it was going to be a scorcher. Our method we adapted was to go from shade spot to shade spot, where Sidney would immediately go into "flat dog" mode while Bruce waited impatiently. Our usual 45 minute walk took well over an hour with plenty of shade and water breaks.
Here is FLAT DOG near the end of our walk:…

The vet says Riley has a rare form of skin cancer and only has a few months to live. He is only 8 years old! I do not accept those words! He has a bunch of sores on his legs and belly. My family is torn apart in tears right now. We prayed over him and believe that there are still miracles and that Riley will be one. He is still full of energy and eating mostly everything in sight. He was starting to have accidents in the house but again I prayed and he…

I don't really think my corgi's are into FRAPing. It definately isn't random- it usually involves food or going for a walk. But they do practice FRABing- Frantic Random Acts of Barking. If one is on the bed, the chair or the sofa and the other wants up- FRAB! If I am taking too long to get their food bowls ready- FRAB! If the scritches feel really good- FRAB! If the leashes are out but they aren't outside- FRAB! If I am just sitting there and I am not paying attention- FRAB! If the evil…

I just can't help singing my own version of the popular song - I kissed a girl - it goes something like this...
I kissed a dog
and I liked it
The taste of his milk-bone biscuit
I kissed a dog
and I liked it
I hope the cat don't mind it!
I told some of my non-dog friends this - and they thought I was crazy - so I'm wondering what all you corgi lovers think - listen to the song if you haven't heard it.
