Long Time Gone...Back Now

Well things have been pretty hectic which kept me away. The holidays got me thinking and I decided I better check back with MyCorgi connections...I'm glad I did. I see there is a lot of activity going on and I will have to poke around some more...

Happy New Year,

Lesson Learned! Bored Corgi + Distracted Mom=Mangled Cell Phone

Well, I've just learned a very valuable lesson about what will happen if Grover hasn't had a walk and I'm distracted. I was sitting on the coach playing Guitar Hero. Yes I'm 26 and was pumped to get Guitar Hero for X-Mas...I'm a dork. Grover was whiney because he wanted his evening walk and I was just too damned distracted...one minute he's chewing his Nyla, the next...my cell phone. He certainly got the walk once I realized my error...but not before he had a time out in his crate!!

My… Continue

Incurable skin disorder... how can we boost the immune system?

My baby girl is 4 yrs old, will be 5 in May. She is purebred AKC registered Pembroke Welsh Corgi. She has been with me (well, we got her the day after we got engaged, and we're now divorced) since she was 6 wks old. She is my first dog on my own and I wanted to do everything right. I lived in the country growing up with lots of animals and dogs. But, she was my first on own after college. She went through Puppy Head Start at PetsMart, picked up on everything quickly, very social b/c she went… Continue

Update on Dragster

Hey everyone,

Thanks so much for all your help first of all. The first thing i thought of was go to mycorgi and ask questions!

Anyway, I got drag boy to the vet around 8:30 this morning after a sleepless night of bloody paper towels and tears. I tried hard to keep it in, because i know he can sense my feelings. His nose never completely stopped bleeding, he bled all over his dog bed and floor. I was worried about blood loss, but since the blood was so fresh and bright red i knew… Continue

my dog, the eunuch

Earlier in December, I took Bentley to the vet to get neutered. I brought him home and all he wanted to do was sleep (which they said was normal.) He would walk and then stop and if he stopped for too long he would start to fall asleep. Even while he was sitting down:

Hahahaha, poor guy.

He was fine the next day but I had to keep the e-collar on because he kept wanting to lick at his stitches. And while he was walking around, I… Continue

HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dragster was bleeding profusely from the nose tonight. So i called the home again emergency line, and they told me to take him to the vet.

The only thing i could think of is he fell out of the window of my truck on cement 2 days ago.

Well my vet is only an emergency vet, and hes deffinantly rude and money hungry.

Its $110 just to have him walk in the door.

I dont care about that, i just need answers.

The stupid vet ran a tick fever test, which… Continue

Notice to Pet Owners

To be posted VERY LOW on the refrigerator door - nose height.

Dear Dogs and Cats,

The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

Diabetic Corgi

I have formed a group called Diabetic Corgis. This is for anyone to join. It's mainly to provide support to owners of diabetic Corgis, but I'm not limiting the group to just that.

I almost lost my sweet Chester to diabetes last May. My vet diagnosed him on a Friday, but didn't want to give him any insulin for a week because he'd been on steroids for a neck injury. Well, that almost killed him. By the following Monday (Memorial Day) he lost the use of his back legs and had been crying… Continue

Corgi Puppy Update

I finally have time to blog about my first corgi, Momo. When I first went to see him, there were 5 boy puppies running around chomping on toes, and there was this medium sized puppy with medium temperament, and a thick white stripe down his nose. He was the one I picked out, his breeder said they were 7-8 weeks old and is ready to go home with me. His sister, the only female of the litter has already gone home with a family. I wanted to wait a bit, until they learn bite inhibition, and a little… Continue

Happy New Year!

Well, 2008 is nearly behind us.Moses and I will be ringing in the new year from Mexico. Camber is not with us. She´s staying with my mom and sister. Although I love Mexico, I am really missing my little lovey-face. According to my sister, Cam has been doing very well, compared with her last stay with them. She´s chilling on the bed with my mom, making friends with Fred, the cat, and is learning that despite the snow that may be on the ground, she still needs to do her business. I pick her up on… Continue

Happy New Year!

I thought I would take some time to write a quick update on Riley's surgery. He was still lame from time to time on his right leg while his left seemed to heal fine. My parents actually watched Riley for me during my finals week which was nice and allowed me to concentrate on studying.

The day of Riley's recheck I took him into the clinic early since I had the surgery done at MSU. That allowed me to help with a surgery in the food animal clinic while I was waiting for his appointment… Continue

Izzie is in Heat... I need advice!

Well, before people scold me for not getting her spayed, let me explain. I moved in September and had an appointment set up for Thanksgiving week back in Pittsburgh where my parents are and I was going to take the week off, drive down with Izzie and get it done on Tuesday of that week. Well, a few days before, the Vet calls to say that the doctors decided to take that week off. Ok, well I guess I will need to get the operation done up in NY sometime in the next month or so. Fast forward through… Continue

Corgi obsessed - youtube, hear say, tv, books & movies

I've finished reading The new complete pembroke welsh corgi, watched more than a few you tube videos, watched at least 100 hours of The Dog Whisperer and It's me or the Dog, and now I've moved on to movies.

Disney's Little Dog Lost is now on my list and I might have to start watching anime ("Cowboy Bebop") for Ein (a corgi)

I've gotten my godson a few childrens books corgiville fair and corgiville christmas.

Jan. 13th... can't wait.

Possessive or possessed?!

I hope everyone had happy holidays!

As of late, Jack has been very, very aggressive towards his 'sister'. I'm talking about knock down, drag out fights! She can just look at him funny, and he snarls up like a small fluffy rat. We've tried everything from spanking with a rolled up newspaper, to locking him in his room for a time out. It gets even worse when his 'sister' gets near me, he just gets crazy. I've had to pull them apart several times in just the last two days! Jack even… Continue

Santa came! What Sidney and I got...

I hope you folks had a wonderful holiday! It was a nice Christmas here in San Diego.

Sidney's nametag was wearing off, so Santa brought him a new one, with the Bolt logo! It's very cool:

And way at the bottom of my stocking was a very pretty necklace with a pendant with a corgi on it. I kept trying to take a picture, but this is the best I could do. Naturally it looks best when lying up against Sidney!…
