You'll probably recall from my last post that the other day Cassie evinced a moment of snappishness toward Ruby the (former) Corgi Pup. One reader expressed concern that some dominance aggressiveness might be developing. Further discussion of dominance issues appears in a new discussion string, where the OP describes using a…

Campbell has been terrified of this giant ball since I got her. She would bark and bark at it until I put it away. Then one day, she took it on...and won! Cracked me up that I managed to get the "beach ball assassin" on film...

Well only 3 days home so far and my little Nugget has roundworms. :( Not happy about that! With his hernia and all I am super paranoid because bloat would be more detrimental in him than others! The poor little guy...I hope he's okay! Just can't seem to get comfy. Maybe that's a puppy thing? I started him on panacur today so hopefully everything goes smoothly.
For the most part it has! He did very well at the vet, slept most of the time, like he always does! (FOR NOW!) And…

Holeeeee Mackerel! I walked in the door from this morning's meeting to find a chewed-up lamp cord scattered all over the living-room floor! Mercifully, Ruby picked the lamp that's plugged into an outlet operated by a switch on the wall. That's all that saved her from being badly hurt or electrocuted.
She's been at large in the house since she learned to work the doggy door and so quit defiling the floors. She has never been a chewer, never been a digger, never been especially…

Ruby and Cassie are SO much better! Now that I've recovered from the most recent (rather annoying) surgery and my son has repatriated the puppy, the worrisome behavioral issues have pretty much resolved.
Putting Ruby on a leash or confining her inside a room with me and Cassie all the time she's in the house worked some sort of a miracle in short order. Really, I couldn't begin to explain why or how this worked...only can report that the competitive "I'm gonna kill…

I am looking at our little pup, Hazel. He is 4.5 months going on 5 months next week and weights about 20lbs. I do not have the measurements for his mom and dad but mom is definitely a bigger corgi and dad is medium sized. I've included some photos below for reference. The reason for my post is I am concerned with his growth rate. Is he growing too quickly for the breed? If he is, what stress is being put on his little joints that could lead to spine and joint problems including hip dysplasia…

LOL! Okay, this is all my fault. And it's not funny, but what the heck...it struck me as hilarious.
We're in the office watching reruns of Desperate Housewives on the giant iMac and cackling away at a particularly funny episode. Time to knock it off, though, and go to bed, so it's "Back to Browse" for Netflix and "Sleep" for the computer and soon, I imagine, "sleep" for the human and the dawgs. We trot out to the kitchen to let the pooches out for a final policing of…

So...after a commenter here at MyCorgi.com suggested conferring with a "holistic" vet, I googled "<same>" and discovered one such person at the mega-commercial-vet that is the legacy of my old friend, now retired, and all-around great vet and redneck good-ole-boy, Jerry Jenkins. Who'd've thunk it? Jerry's veterinary empire is right down the road, as opposed to halfway across the city where I've been schlepping Cassie and now, New Pup.
Well. It was off to…

M'jihito drove me out to Wittman yesterday for Puppy-Picking Day, his car being younger and more reliable than mine. We have a pup, a little girl. A slew of Phone Photos are here:

Wittman is an hour's drive from central Phoenix. This factoid made for an innaresting day. I had choir call at 10…

From your experiences, what is/are the best airline to ship your puppy? I know the options are very limited as far as who accepts pets as cargo, but out of the few that do, I'd like to know who's the safest. Also, if it's a connected flight, is there anything to worry about? I would choose a direct flight, but the airport that my breeder lived near doesn't have ANY non-stop flights to NY!

Hello everyone! Bandit is doing fantastic (can't believe she is already 13 weeks old!), but I have had some issues the past few days with her while we have her outside to go potty.
The area outside my apartment where I take her to do her business has some mulch around the bushes, which was fine, but when the landscaping people came this past week they somehow managed to get little bits of mulch all over Bandit's usual potty area. The problem stems from this. She…

IT HAPPENED!!!
I was just confirmed to pick up my dream dog just after Christmas. A week ago I found these puppies from this https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/dbOJb fundraiser for Willa, a corgi rescue who was pregnant. THEIR TAILS WEREN'T DOCKED. They were in California. It was too good to be true. I found them hours before the application deadline for a puppy closed and fought the good fight to get one. I was just confirmed and my…

I am getting myself ready before I get a puppy, I'm on a list for a breeder. I have slowly gathered everything I think I'll need, minus food, collar, leash (I want to wait to make sure I get something that fits).
I have seen a lot of people use xpens/playpens for pups when they are younger, for when they can't watch them or if they have to get up and do something, etc. I got a 30" high one to use at home, but my house is pretty much completely carpet! Not good for puppy…

So, my little miss Bandit has been home for two days now. When is the other shoe going to drop? When is she going to become a troublesome puppy? I honestly just can't get over how perfect of a puppy she is!
She has been completely accident free.
She doesn't really bark in the house (unless she sees the cat running away from her).
She only whines for a few minutes before settling down in her crate during the day.
At night, she falls asleep within minutes of…

Hello fellow corgi lovers!
It is just 7 days until I bring my little miss Bandit home. She will be almost 9 weeks old. I feel like I am prepared, but I figured I would give a run down of what I have and see what other advice I could get. I want to be as prepared as possible for my little baby.

I just ordered a buckle martingale collar for my puppy that is coming home next week. I already have a regular martingale that I was going to use for her, even though I don't like that I would have to slip it over her head and adjust it every time I am going to have to take her outside. From my understanding, the buckle martingales work just the same as the regular, but just have the added convenience of buckling on like a normal collar.
I know a lot of people here swear by…

Knowing that I will be bringing home my first PWC pup in about two months, I am
starting to test the waters to figure out what kind of food to feed. I am a big
fan of Blue Buffalo. My cat has been on it for years and all of my coworkers
feed Blue with great success.
I was looking at either the Freedom or
Basics "lines" that Blue has to offer. Freedom is grain free and Basics is a
limited ingredient food.
Also, I know there are varying opinions on…
