bit of a scare here at my house. I'm usually very cautious about removing the dogs' collars when we're home, but I forgot to take Goldy's collar off last night after getting home from my brother's derby party. Bear and Goldy were wrestling and Bear's mouth got caught on Goldy's collar and he evidently twisted - both were very scared, including me. I managed to unclick… Continue

I hear bdrum, bdrum, bdrum, pause, bdrum, bdrum, bdrum, pause, bomp, bomp, bomp, bomp, pause, click, click, click.
The sound of two corgis frapping around the upstairs, then racing each other down the steps.
The pauses are when they stop to switch who' s following who.
The click is Goldy air snapping at Bear.
I love these dogs.

There's a lost and found/flier board in the middle of my dog park - it has sliding glass doors on it. For the last year, when I come into the dog park, I have put my keys and leash in this little spot.
Today, when I got ready to leave, my leash was there. My keys were gone.
I have never been sooo angry in my life! There was a thuggish looking kid there, with a pit bull that wasn't fixed and peed on about 10 different people. I did see him looking…

Today mom let us go play in the mud, since it was bath day anyway...we had soooo much fun. Today was our favorite kind of weather, cloudy, cool and wet. We don't care for playing in the summer, we get hot and hide under any nearby tree/chair/shadow.
We especially liked chasing each other. Bear is…

on a episode I had on my dvr she talks about how mean it is to keep a dog in a crate. My dog trainer said the exact opposite, now of course you don't want to keep them in there for long hours all day everyday, but Stillwell said no more than three hours.
My dog trainer described a dog in a crate like a teenager in their bedroom. Relaxing and enjoying their own space. Mine don't even bark when I come home in the afternoon, they wake up as I'm unlocking the door and are…

At the dog park today was the cutest little corgi. After a little discussion with her owner, we realized that Goldy and his dog Ginger were sisters in their litter.
I LOVE the pic of them side by side, it's like their bodies make a heart!!!
I knew Goldy was small for a corgi, but wow, when you see another dog from the same litter, you really realize how small she is!
Enjoy the pics!…

The last picture of the two of them I posted was from November, decided it was time for something more current.
This is Goldy in her new thin sweater as an option for her surgery recovery - I've never put clothes on either of them, so I put it on her tonight to let her get used to it in case we need it...who knew she would look sooo cute it in?
And of course this is Bear next to her - laughing at her.…

So Goldy is getting fixed on Friday and I DREAD putting an ecollar on her, even an inflatable one - it's bad enough to be in pain, but in a freakish collar HAS to make it worse.
So here's my idea: can I put a little doggie shirt on her? Maybe something similar to a baby's onesie? Something light and thin that won't get her too hot and will prevent her from licking.
I realize that she can chew through it if she focused on it, but I will be with…

I'm a sap for any animal movie, and Babe happens to be on at this moment. There are sooo many scenes in this film that bring tears to my eyes but this one especially...
When he sings to the pig to get him to eat ; if I had words to make a day for you...I'd sing you a morning golden and true, I would make this day last for all time, then fill the night deep in moonshine....

So, I made the appointment today. My sweet girl goes under the knife next Friday - for the record, the day I took Bear to be neutered I was beside myself all day. I think I went to pick him up like 30 minutes early because I just couldn't wait any longer.
This should be better, I have to work on Friday - pending no more snow days, so at least I'll be at work and distracted from worrying. The down side is that I leave for work at 6:30am, and she can't be dropped off until 8…

Just a little list of things that my dogs do that always makes me smile.
1. I love when they lay on the rug in the bathroom when I'm showering.
2. I love how they grunt when I disturb them when they're sleeping.
3. I love that they think that every time I walk into the kitchen, I'm going to feed them.
4. I love when I tell them no and they make that noise…

So I came home today to a baby girl with white foam around one side of her mouth. She looked like she had rabies LOL, but I knew she didn't. After settling her down and looking her over, I found a back tooth super loose and the gums really swollen and kind of gross looking. A quick trip to the vet to find out that she's a bit abscessed on both sides of her mouth. Basically her bottom tooth is poking her sore gums on her top.
We got some antibiotics for the infection and we're home.…

I had a light bulb moment this morning. I've been trying to figure out why Goldy's potting training hasn't gone well, and comparing her progress to Bear's.
Then I realized -
I got Bear in March.
I got Goldy in October.
I'm a teacher, so I'm off from June through mid August - see where this is going?
Bear was only alone all day for about 2 months, then I was home with him all day - playing outside, walking going to the dog park - therefore a MUCH easier…

Anytime Goldy has something that Bear wants he simply walks over and takes it out of her mouth. NO fuss, no muss - she doesn't get angry and there's no drama...
Exception: Two bones in the floor, Bear has one, Goldy has one. Bear gets up to go and grab a quick drink, Goldy takes Bear's bone ( I think she likes his because he softens them up for her). In this situation Bear does not take it from her, he sit and stares at me and makes that "hmph" sound over and over, looking really…

So, I had to take Beavis and Butthead to the groomers for a bath and blowdry. A few days ago they jumped in the bathtub with me - weirdos - and I noticed last night that they were both a little itchy. After looking them over it occurred to me that the bubble bath I had in my bath probably made them itchy. The temperature here today is a brisk 13 degrees WITHOUT the wind chill and it's snowing, so I didn't want to bathe them here risking they might get too cold.
I dropped them off a…
