I got this in an email a while back, I thought I would share. Happy Thanksgiving!
A Dog's Purpose (from a 6-year old).
Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolf hound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.
I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker,… Continue

From the war zones of Iraq and Afghanistan, we hear the heartwarming stories of Cinnamon, Lava, Charlie, Boo and Ratchet
. They are the dogs of war - pets and mascots of our American soldiers who have rescued and cared for these animals trapped in the chaos of human conflict.
We also hear the tales of heartbreak. The pets and mascots of our soldiers are fugitives - victims a military order that requires the killing of animals harbored by American soldiers in combat…

I was wondering what a good dry dog food would be to maintain urine Ph levels? We took Mandy to the vet today because she had blood in her urine...she had an accident the other day and I saw it and there was a white piece of something in her urine...it was hard. The vet said it was probably crystals. They tested her urine and no infection, but there were signs of crystals and he said she may beve been developing stones. He said that we needed to change her food. We have been feeding her…

This morning I woke up way early to a weird smell. I woke up my husband when I realized it was natural gas and we do have a gas furnace! After we decided I wasn't paranoid (1 min) we opened some windows and got all of us out. Owen was really confused that we were all out for the morning potty- with his kennel. So we went over to our neighbors - who actually had our friend house sitting and hung out waiting for the gas company. Owen was a nut job. Our neighbors have 3 labs but they were with…

I got Bentley on October 25th and it's been a month now.
I've never had a dog before. Wait. Correction: I've never my OWN dog that was my complete responsibility before. I had two hamsters when I was seven, but that one didn't work out so well either.... tragic, actually. And so, I swore off pets for a looong time. I think I had a beta once when I was in middle school but they have a film canister of water and live forever. Daffodils require more maintenance.
I wanted a…

Wookie has terrible gas. He can clear a room in one "pfffff". My other 2 dogs are on senior Canidae kibble and the Wookster is on all stages Canidae. It is not a grocery store food, by all means. Does anyone else feed their dogs Canidae? Do they have the same gastric issues?

I have a pic on my page of my aussie, Chloe, where she is laying with a mouse and not a single person noticed it. The mouse also walked right out the door un-noticed as well.

So, I'm not a new dog owner but I've never had a corgi. Zelda has grown this really long fuzzy butt. Do corgi's need to have that groomed?

Samson started limping a few days ago. I am taking him tomorrow to the vet. I sympathize with anyone who cannot cut their dog's nails. My dog's are the most loving creatures until the nail clippers come out! Anyway, I am worried about Sam. I hope everything is okay. He seems depressed too.

So yesterday we took Wyatt to pampered paws in chelmsford to get his nails cut. I have been dreading this day for a while. Wyatt does not like his nails cut, and I dont blame him...have any of you ever seen that commercial for the peticure where they show the nail being cut and throbbing? Looks painful.
Anyways we tried to muzzel him and that didnt work so my boyfriend just picked him up and held him on the table and she was able to cut them all in no time at all. Wyatt is a bit of…

Everyone that walks into my house sees our cute 5 month old puppy and immediatly tries to pick it up. He goes nuts. Trying to nip and furociously freaking out. I have a method for picking him up that does not bother him. We call it the "bathing suit". Placing your hands where a girl would wear a bathing suit (under the chest, Under the bottom). Is this just our corgi who freaks out or do all corgi's have a problem being picked up? I thought is was because it hurts when some big person is…

Hi, everyone. I haven't blogged in so long...I feel like a bad friend. I can't access this website at work and by the time I get home, I don't want to look at a computer.
How is everyone? Life here with the Cam-ster is going well. She's been really sweet (like, when is she NOT, right?? I mean, look at that face) and she's so excited to see me when I get home, that all I want to do is play with her. This past week has been really cold in the Northeast, so we've been debating on…

Maxs first day of obedience school starts today. I'm hoping he learns things like come, sit and stay. He's so hard-headed it may take 4 or 5 sets of classes. Wish us luck and we'll let you know how it goes.

I had to take care of my mom and stepfather, as mom does not drive and stepdad is sick. Long story. My husband called me last night to say that Trixie had a bought of diarrhea. I thought it was just stress from me being gone pretty much all week(minus a few hours here and there) and the addition of some new food. Yes, I took the time to slowly mix it so she could acclimate...anyway, this morning I got a call from him at 0600, to tell me she just wasn't herself. She refused her food and water,…

I got my Riley necklace about a week ago and finally here is a photo of it. Of course it doesn't capture its true beauty but it came out great and I am more comforted to be able to look down and still see him there with me.
There are so many things I miss like the sound of his bark, feeling his soft fur, and watching him roll over and surrender to me when he did something bad, like chew my ink pen. A funny memory I remembered the other…

Just thought I'd give a little update on Reese... On November 20th, Reese was put under the knife and removed her lady-hood. I think that she's pretty darn lucky to not have to go through her monthly period. Anyhow, she's recovering pretty well. A little loopy yesterday and just sleepy today. She's now eat and drinking like normal... thank goodness. At night we put the E-Coller on her so that she doesn't mess with the stitches while we're sleeping. I don't think she gets much sleep with it on,…

The residents here love Brewster. Everyday he does my rounds in the morning with me, going nursing station to station and collecting my daily info. The residents all reach for him. It is sweet to see him stop at a wheelchair and sit so they can pet his cute little head. One lady, because of her dementia, calls out. She yells help me and when I take Brewster to the hall where she is and he sits next to her, she smiles and he sits while she pets him. It is amazing the calming effect he has on…
