Yesterday was Mikko's first accident-free day ~ he ONLY went potty outside! I am SO proud of him! Plus It was nice to have a break from the cleanup process. :) When he first came home, I thought we'd have to replace the carpet because of all the accidents and it was a little discouraging ~ even though we watched him like a hawk, he'd just squat and go before we had a chance to stop him... But with a lot of consistency, just two weeks later he's had fewer accidents every day, and it is so…

Hey everyone, just wanted some advice.
Wyatt has had a bit of a relapse in his potty training. He is almost 11 months and I never crate trained him, but he did well with going potty outside. Until recently he has started peeing inside the house again, and if I take him over my friends house he seems to mark his spot there too.
I work for 8 hours so it is hard for me to think about leaving him in the crate for so long. I dont know what to do.
Is it too late to crate train, he…

Reesee got hit by a car today. Melissa probably won't understand, I've been hysterical and my mom is taking the blame and telling me not to talk to her about it. I'll do it, but I will not feel good about it because it was all my fault and melissa is nothing but a stupid bitch. She is jinxed. No one in the house wanted her dog to stay there and melissa has been nothing but problems for the entire house since moving in. That's the way it's always been. She's stupid and doesn't care about anyones…

So I came home from work today and Leia had chewed through the wallpaper and drywall, right down to the stud, in my kitchen. It took everything I had in me not to scream! I don't know what to do. We keep her locked in the kitchen but there is a doggy door so she can go outside when she needs too. I don't want to crate her because no one is home for 8+ hours 4 days a week. She has plenty of toys and a decent sized backyard to keep her busy. She even has another dog to play with. I take her on a…

I have seen a multitude of posts regarding housetraining so thought I would construct information that would serve as basic guidelines of how to train and what to expect. We all get excited about bringing that new puppy home but remember, it takes lots of work to help that pup grow up to be a cherished companion. It doesnt happen magically and takes input, time, love and patience from you, the owner.
Generally pups come to their new homes between 8 - 10 weeks. This is quite an overwhelming…

I have been seeing so much on bad dog food and all the poor innocent dogs dying or becoming very sick. Most recently I have seen information and even a few on this site about Nutro dog food. I have been feeding Max Nutro since he first came to us 6 months ago. He seems to be fine and enjoys the puppy food, but I don't want to take any chances. Unfortunately I just stocked up on this stuff but completely willing to change. Problem is, I know there are several other brands that have caused these…

*23Jun08 - Update amended to end of type*
He peers at me from under his ceramic coven. Watching, waiting, anticipating my movements to find the right time to climb out from below in search of a meal. I come home to a quiet house, open the garage door to the kitchen, and he is always there staring at me, inflating his neck with the most sinister grin on his scaley lizard face. How did you get in Kitchen Lizard? I can only guess. How can…

Hey everyone,
We went to the corgi picnic to day with JD and all he really wanted was attention from the humans and really didnt want to do any thing with the corgi's then just before we left he started warming up to a couple of them. (I think the bigger corgi's where scaring him more than anything). On our way home we stopped at a petco and found a pem. corgi that was younger than he was and started trying to play with her then. So im trying to get him use to other dogs slowly. I…

Last night I was at a vestry meeting and since it was still nice out, I left Ginny and ol' Josie outside. I left the sliding door to the office open so they could go in there, but nowhere else in the house. When I got home, I went to go let them in and found a HUGE DEAD BLACK BIRD right in the middle of the office floor! It was so gross. Josie has little to no interest in chasing.... anything and this bird was much too big for one of the cats to bring down. So that leaves but one suspect - - -…

Thanks everyone for the invitations, I haven't had the time to do the same, plusfigure out how to go about inviting everyone (because everyone is welcome, of course) . I want to put more photos of my dog on the web page, but with baseball almost every night, I can't find the time. I will get caught up this weekend. Please be patient with me. The dogs look adorable. One thing thatI have noticed is that Fred seems to only be interested in other corgies. He really won't give other dogs the "time…

Once again, a beautiful corgi has passed through our rescue. The picture shown on my home page is now of Kelley, and 11 1/2 year old sable female. Her owner is suffering with Altzheimer's and has been relocated to a nursing home. Sadly, no family member was able to take Kelley in and care for her in her twilight years. She is now being looked after by Humane Animal Rescue Team (HART) in Los Angeles. Her bio on their site (http://www.hart4dogs.org/hart_dogs.htm) reads as…

Risa is 12 weeks now and doing really great. The 4 weeks we've spent with him were full of worries, but full of fun, too. We love him so much! He turned to be a strong personality, stubborn sometimes, but brave and intelligent. We couldn't do much training because of his 2-weeks-long stomach problems - no treats, no training. But he learned a lot about our life just by watching us.
He's quite good on the leash, just a little bit of FRAPing sometimes. I take him to the town very often to…

I have been very sick, I do not get sick often, but apparently when I do, I do it big. As a result I mainly stumble home after a workday and roll up into a ball to die. Naturally, Cheez-it found this the perfect opportunity to switch personalities (er. dogalities?). The day before I fell ill with the common cold it rained, pretty bad actually. We went out to potty as usual and he enthusiastically jumped from the sidewalk to his normal stomping(pooping) grounds. On realization that it was wet he…

Oh how Willow loves the summer time! Hangin' out at the lake and barking at the skiers behind the boat...crazy girl! Everyone in the extended family has a dog... so besides Willow the Corgi there are 2 Schnauzers, 1 Labradoodle and 2 Cocker Spaniels that sometimes visit, all in ONE house!! Next door there is another black Lab and all around the lake - everyone has a dog!!! Sometimes Willow gets scared because all the dogs are so much taller than she is so she goes for cover under our bed…

I've got 3 more days until I meet my new baby! I can't wait! I'm a little under prepared for her though. The only thing I have right now is her slip collar. I went out and looked at the local pet shops over the weekend but I was pretty disappointed with the kennels and food bowls I was finding. Maybe I am just picky, but from experience with Lily, I kinda am particular about the things we already tried with her. I would like a set of bowls with a stand so that they don't get kicked around all…

So it's a sad day in Corgiville, Tasha has left for the bridge to meet her many corgis.
Tasha Tudor, an author, illustrator and poet, died today in her Vermont home. She was born Starling Burgess and later had her name legally changed to Tasha Tudor. She was one of the most prolific and revered illustrators of all time. Her career spanned nearly 75 years. Although most of her books were children's books, even as an adult, I still enjoy them. Her most famous (IMO) are the Corgiville…

**Reader beware! This is an extremely long post... I've separated it by topic**
Kuma has been with us for only four days now and he is doing WONDERFUL! Well, as wonderful as we can expect a 9.5 week old puppy to be. He's unbelievably affectionate and loving and enjoys hanging out with his humans... but I think this will also lead to some separation anxiety issues. I wasn't able to take off from work this week, but do go home for 1.5 hours each day during lunch to feed him and…

Penelope got her last set of puppy vaccinations yesterday! Yay! She is cleared for all that fun stuff now. But, she isn't eating very much now. I think it can be attributed to the vaccinations. She also got her rabies vax. That made a difference from her previous vaccinations because she was much more lethargic, and still is a little. She just threw up again b/c she was playing around chasing a bug, but is refusing to eat right now. It was the empty stomach kind. The vet also made her spay…
