Lucy is GROWING! She is getting so long she doesn't fit in her nice travel crate any more. We are on the go every weekend and have loved the soft sided one we've been using, but alas....and I know she's only 3 months old so no telling how much more she'll grow.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a LONG one that is working well for your adult corgi. She will be positioned in between my boys on the bench seat in back, and we really want her inside the crate. She falls asleep…

Well, for 4 days now leon's ear has stopped being a floppy. It's now happily standing straight up now with absolutely no falling. I wonder why it chose right after the accident to do that... Hmm. Doesn't matter.
I'd been conflicted for a little while about it. Like, I wanted him to have a floppy ear, because it was unique and cute, but at the same time I was secretly wishing that it would stand up and he would have a normal corgi look. I wasn't going to intentionally make it do…

Ok, I must admit I may be too picky. Lucy smells too doggie. Is this a corgi thing or just that is the way it is with dogs?
I know I am not supposed to give her too many baths, but after 3 days she is starting to really smell again. Not the sweet little puppy smell, sadly that is gone. This is just a dog smell. A lady I talked with today has two aussies and could not remember the last time she gave them a bath. She does clean their feet though when they are muddy.
I…

... and this site is a riot. Love reading and looking at all the other Corgi's, and reading about their owners' experiences with them.
I was just randomly Googling Corgi stuff when I came across this site. Coincidentally enough, there is a
Welsh Corgi Convention at Riverside park in 3 days (I live only a few blocks from there). LMAO. Should be funny as hell. Send me a message if you'll be there as well!…

Well, next thursday my little Luna goes in for her spay sugery. Was just wondering if anyone had any input or suggestions for making the healing time easier for her?

I just dropped off Suzy at the vet to be spayed and I cried as soon as I got back in the car! This will be the first time that she will be away from me and the first time I've boarded her at the vet. I feel so guilty for leaving her, but I am going on a family vacation this weekend and she wouldn't have been able to go with me. I felt like this would be good timing for getting her spayed (she turns 6 months next week) since the vet's policy is to board her overnight after surgery anyway. I just…

I woke up this morning to a soiled kennel, about 3-4 spots of vomit on the kitchen floor, and 2-3 runny potty spots on the downstairs bathroom floor.
It's official, I suppose. Roscoe's sick!
You wouldn't know it to look at him, he's completely as full of energy as ever. He started having diarrhea late Sunday night - he was unable to hold it during the night as he usually is. I didn't feed him Monday morning, gave him lots of water, and he seemed to be better Monday night.…

We had to put Sandy to sleep today. It is one of the hardest things I've ever done. We all agreed it was time, though. Daily activities were just getting impossible for her, and we didn't want to see her suffer. She was a trooper right until the end. She never failed to greet me and try to follow me around the house, even when it was so difficult for her. She has been my constant companion through good and bad for 14 years, and always offered unconditional love. I miss her terribly. Gus misses…

Yesterday was Mikko's first accident-free day ~ he ONLY went potty outside! I am SO proud of him! Plus It was nice to have a break from the cleanup process. :) When he first came home, I thought we'd have to replace the carpet because of all the accidents and it was a little discouraging ~ even though we watched him like a hawk, he'd just squat and go before we had a chance to stop him... But with a lot of consistency, just two weeks later he's had fewer accidents every day, and it is so…

Hey everyone, just wanted some advice.
Wyatt has had a bit of a relapse in his potty training. He is almost 11 months and I never crate trained him, but he did well with going potty outside. Until recently he has started peeing inside the house again, and if I take him over my friends house he seems to mark his spot there too.
I work for 8 hours so it is hard for me to think about leaving him in the crate for so long. I dont know what to do.
Is it too late to crate train, he…

Reesee got hit by a car today. Melissa probably won't understand, I've been hysterical and my mom is taking the blame and telling me not to talk to her about it. I'll do it, but I will not feel good about it because it was all my fault and melissa is nothing but a stupid bitch. She is jinxed. No one in the house wanted her dog to stay there and melissa has been nothing but problems for the entire house since moving in. That's the way it's always been. She's stupid and doesn't care about anyones…

So I came home from work today and Leia had chewed through the wallpaper and drywall, right down to the stud, in my kitchen. It took everything I had in me not to scream! I don't know what to do. We keep her locked in the kitchen but there is a doggy door so she can go outside when she needs too. I don't want to crate her because no one is home for 8+ hours 4 days a week. She has plenty of toys and a decent sized backyard to keep her busy. She even has another dog to play with. I take her on a…

I have seen a multitude of posts regarding housetraining so thought I would construct information that would serve as basic guidelines of how to train and what to expect. We all get excited about bringing that new puppy home but remember, it takes lots of work to help that pup grow up to be a cherished companion. It doesnt happen magically and takes input, time, love and patience from you, the owner.
Generally pups come to their new homes between 8 - 10 weeks. This is quite an overwhelming…

I have been seeing so much on bad dog food and all the poor innocent dogs dying or becoming very sick. Most recently I have seen information and even a few on this site about Nutro dog food. I have been feeding Max Nutro since he first came to us 6 months ago. He seems to be fine and enjoys the puppy food, but I don't want to take any chances. Unfortunately I just stocked up on this stuff but completely willing to change. Problem is, I know there are several other brands that have caused these…

*23Jun08 - Update amended to end of type*
He peers at me from under his ceramic coven. Watching, waiting, anticipating my movements to find the right time to climb out from below in search of a meal. I come home to a quiet house, open the garage door to the kitchen, and he is always there staring at me, inflating his neck with the most sinister grin on his scaley lizard face. How did you get in Kitchen Lizard? I can only guess. How can…

Hey everyone,
We went to the corgi picnic to day with JD and all he really wanted was attention from the humans and really didnt want to do any thing with the corgi's then just before we left he started warming up to a couple of them. (I think the bigger corgi's where scaring him more than anything). On our way home we stopped at a petco and found a pem. corgi that was younger than he was and started trying to play with her then. So im trying to get him use to other dogs slowly. I…

Last night I was at a vestry meeting and since it was still nice out, I left Ginny and ol' Josie outside. I left the sliding door to the office open so they could go in there, but nowhere else in the house. When I got home, I went to go let them in and found a HUGE DEAD BLACK BIRD right in the middle of the office floor! It was so gross. Josie has little to no interest in chasing.... anything and this bird was much too big for one of the cats to bring down. So that leaves but one suspect - - -…

Thanks everyone for the invitations, I haven't had the time to do the same, plusfigure out how to go about inviting everyone (because everyone is welcome, of course) . I want to put more photos of my dog on the web page, but with baseball almost every night, I can't find the time. I will get caught up this weekend. Please be patient with me. The dogs look adorable. One thing thatI have noticed is that Fred seems to only be interested in other corgies. He really won't give other dogs the "time…
