I see many questions asked regarding the shedding process of corgis. First and foremost I must say that corgis do shed copious amounts. It is part of owning this enchanted breed and something that one will have to accept. I will be happy to share some tips to manage the shedding a bit which may be helpful.
Feed a good quality food. Generally I recommend a food that does not contain corn in the first five ingredients. There is no "best" food. There are many good foods. A good diet is the…

I cleaned Eddy's ears on Sunday... I clean them every, well, whenever I remember, probably 12 or more days. After this round, though, he seemed really bothered, shaking his head, itching, etc. etc. I'm like, "Great this'll be trip #3 to the vet for the month of June." Sigh.
I figured there was too much moisture in there, and he couldn't quite shake it out, so I tried sopping "it" up with a dry cotton ball as deep as I dared (I'm terrified of going too far), flexing his ears around to…

Just had to share this with all of you. On one of the Cleveland Metroparks Zoos coupon card they have a picture of a Corgi. Knowing how Sam Tsang loves to take pictures of anything advertising the Corgi I had to scan it and share for his collection. The Corgi on the coupon resembles a pup I had last spring by Kiara so its definitely a souvenir for me.…

We start puppy class this Wednesday! I'm really excited about it (overly excited, probably). Hannah already knows sit, down, shake, speak, and roll over, but I she just isn't all that focused most of the time. I don't remember what all they teach in the class, but I'm hoping we do some work with the recall as that's her worst area of practice.
We went to a friend's house for the second time to play with her pooches. She has two 60+ lb. dogs, and Hannah loves them to death. I refer to…

I have some sad news. We were forced to give up Oreo this past week. He bit a 6 yr old little boy pretty severely. Unfortunately this wasn't the first time he went after someone but was the first time he bit and drew blood. The really scary part is that it wasn't provoked in any way!! I was so upset. Poor Chesney doesn't know what to do all by herself now. We think that there was something wrong with one or both of Oreos parents because all his siblings that we know have had problems. We…

Honestly, Skyler wishes he belonged to a single man. You know how dogs have instinct? Instinct to not want to potty where they sleep or getting to know other dogs by sniffing them. Well Sky's instinct is to flirt with all the hot ladies. Did you know Corgis could flirt??? I didnit until I brought Sky to the dog park.
Now I always noticed that Sky had a propensity to go towards attractive people--men or women. But ooo lala if you could get a pretty lady to shower him with some…

Well, I thought about it ever since I was a pre-teen and I finally decided that if it was possible, I would volunteer for the Humane Society's Foster Program. I've volunteered by walking dogs, cleaning kennels and bowls, feeding the animals, picking up poop, and all types of stuff while I was younger, but I'd really like to do more. Of course, to live on my own, I can't volunteer during the day (I have to make mula!!) but I love animals and I would like to at least save one dog or cat at a time…

Our little Murphy had one of the biggest and most important vet appointments of his life on Friday. We really didn't want him to have to stay overnight, but they wanted him to so what choice did we have and we also wanted to be sure that he would return to us with a clean bill of health. We missed him so much, it was weird not having him around for one night. I'm so used to him being right at my feet all the time. We brought him home and he was back to his usual tricks. Chasing Stella and…

Well the time is nearly here! In a month, we've decided to get a corgi pup at around 4 months old, the breeder is a wonderful lady with 6 beautiful corgis and even 3 Afghan hounds! All the family members are ready, the decision has gone from a pug to a dachshund and finally, landing on the big furry Corgi! But I would really like to thank all of you for simply creating such a great community for Corgi owners and Corgi owners to be's! Without seeing all the discussions and blogs about so many…

Well Owen celebrated his first birthday about a month ago. We did hats and the whole shabang.. Owen has gotten so big and I have to admit I do miss the puppy in him. I can tell he wants to be a big boy and be tough.
I'm pretty sure this includes chewing any clothing accidently left in reach. Goodbye bathrobe. It also includes barking although that may have something to do with the windows being open alot lately. Fortunately it includes some good things too like running with me, being…

Hey Everyone,
I was just wondering a few questions about clicker training: 1. has anyone had any luck with clicker training on their corgi? 2. does anyone have a book suggestion on clicker training that I should purchase? 3. how long did it take to eliminate the clicker?
Thanks everyone. My hubby and I are getting Rhys in just under 4 and we just want to make sure we are training him with an effective approach!

I was so proud of Chloe today! I took her to a church picnic at Morse Park, Elk Grove, CA the picnic was near a water spray ground with lots of kids. Chloe was very obediant and mellow, a pleasure to be around, and this was important because there were a few that do not like dogs. I think she won them over!

Last night I smelled a strong skunk smell. I wonder where it came from, we live in a suburb residential. I have never seen a skunk here in the 10 years here. I know from my teenage days that tomato juice will neutralize the smell. I also heard, but cannot remember what the other odor killer is, hydrogen peroxide and something else.

It's been 2 weeks since Emmett came into my life, I'm very thankful that I got to spend some quality time with him, I've learnt that sometimes we just need a little TLC, a second chance. I'm so glad that Emmett will be loved by his new family, plus a Boston Terrier sister and a Greyhound Brother :) You will be missed Emmett!
