Ein the brat!

Do I need to expect a lifetime of a stubborn corgi? Ein is a little over 6 months and he has just been terrible lately! We got him neutered last week so we thought he would mellow out a bit after it. However, since he has been neutered we are unable to take him to the dog park or the doggy day care, because he can't get his stiches wet and it is harder to monitor him at those places. So, it seems he has bundles of energy but he just doesn't use it appropriately. He gets a 1/2 mile walk in the… Continue

6-month Cheez-it Update

Well, I've been distracted for a while but I thought it was about time to stop on in and say how Cheez-it was doing. He is just around 6 months old now and weighs around 17 lbs. (correction: I just weighed him and he is 19lbs.) He still seems rather small for his age, or mabye some of you guys have giant monster-corgi's. He just really isnt intrested in food too much, he mabye eats a cup daily and every other day a cup and a half (I feed him blue buffalo lamb for pups).

He's… Continue

time for a spray bottle...

Owen has been weird this week. It is a week that has made me very thankful for this website! He turned 4 months on Sunday. He lost a few teeth recently (hilarious- two front teeth on the top AND the bottom) so he looks a little funny. Our schedules have been weird but twice he put himself to bed at the end of the night. Walks have happened at different times of the day and goodness knows our stubborn little boy is confused by that. However work has just forced us to have this weird… Continue

Sigh....Rough First Class

Grover's first day in Intermediate class was tonight and....well....it did not go well. There were only 2 other dogs in the class and they have all been in several classes and are much older than Grover (Grove is 8 months). So, of course, I wasn't comparing him to them. But, even still, it was a rough class. He did wonderful in Beginner Obediance class. He was a star. But we've had a couple of months off and he just acted like a stink pot tonight.

First of all, we practiced sit-stay's and… Continue

Getting ready for Ike!

Jack is a nervous wreck! I think he knows something big is coming. He's been in hiding most of the day, even growling at me when I try to pick him up and take him outside. We live in Cypress where the winds are supposed to be up to 95 mph! We've decided to ride it out, but if we're without power for too long, we're taking the dogs and going to a hotel!

Good luck to all who are weathering the storm!

Didi prepares for Hurricane Ike!

Here on the third coast, Didi's preparing for hurricane ike! Mostly by watching me prepare for Hurricane Ike by laying lazily at my feet while I toil away!
And by toil, I mean put up and away water-sensitive things. Also cleaning the yard of potential projectiles. And boarding up. She thinks that moving outdoor furniture is hilarious!
We're sheltering in place with all the animals, so wish us luck. :)

Dog gets neglected because of videogames.

Naw, just kidding.

Spore came out, so Didi and I have been playing a whole lot of it. Yesterday I tore myself away from it long enough to take her to the dog park where she got to play with a little beagle. Usually she fence-hugs when we're there, or makes the rounds to all the people, but this time she got a lot of running in behind that beagle.

On the way home I got her a 24" bully stick, which should keep her well occupied while I lose myself in the spore universe… Continue

My Dad's Schnauzer has Cushings disease

My Dad is so upset because his 12 year old Schnauzer has been diagnosed with Cushings disease and pancreatitis. Peggy Sue was my Mom's dog and I think if she passes that my Dad will lose his last reminder of Mom who died in 2004. I have done some internet research and it seems to be treatable. Has anyone had any experience with these diseases? He also is having trouble getting her to eat the prescription diet that the vet gave her. The vet put her on ID. Dad always gave her lots and lots of… Continue

Madog goes calling

I made Madog stay home from the office today because of his poor performance yesterday. I went home at lunch and let him out and he peed and pooped on command (in training) and then wanted back in the house instead of a walk. We played for a bit and then I headed back to work.

At the end of the day the bosses wanted to know where he was because they wanted him in the office (where he is known as Johnson) and they don't seem to care that he still leaks which means of course I can… Continue

Life with Gibson: 10 weeks old

Well, little Gibson has had quite the week! He's still doing fabulously with the potty training and crate training..and learning a few basic commands (sit, stay, lay down). He can be a little mean at times though, which worries me, even though I know it's just the way he plays. He will herd us and run up and growl at us and bite at our feet..we've tried lots of techniques to get him to stop but nothing has really worked yet. So, today I sent in registration for puppy obedience at our park… Continue

Sliding into home

Madog was so funny leaving the office today. It was time to go home. And he was down the mezzanine from me. I called him and told him it was time to go. I was crouched down and had his car harness open and ready to put on. He came barreling down on me and slid head first into his harness. He really must have wanted to get out of there. :)

But with the amount of accidents he had this afternoon he has guaranteed he will not be going back anytime soon.

I can only hope he someday… Continue

good days for Riley

Well Riley was looking thin, things were looking grim so I prayed for my baby again, I read healing scriptures over him and he got excited and full of energy. Then a few moments later he ate his dog food and gobbled it down.He hasnt ate his dry dog food in weeks! His teeth have been bloody with sores so he hasnt wanted to chew. Well after everyones prayers I looked and his teeth were completly healed! He has no more sores in his mouth! Please keep praying for him it is working! He is so full of… Continue

Reese and her first baby encounter

On September 7th, 2008 Reese attended our nephew's first birthday party. Not only was it her first time around babies it was her first party! Matt and I were a little nervous and didn't know how well she was going to take to the little babies. We're so fortunate to have such a wonderful dog. She was great with all the people and babies around. She did a meet and greet with just about everyone and loved every minute of it. Her little nub was just wiggling the majority of the day. Reese was… Continue

A pheasant-retrieving corgi?

So we had a great time up north visiting the family. Junebug and Elvis love going to the farm, where there are tons of things to do and places to go. They are natural farm dogs, going with you everywhere, and happy to come in and nap when the work is done.

My parents have three dogs, one of them a hefty black lab (Bug--yeah, I know it's wierd to have two!) that is either very poorly socialized or just plain slow of mind. Mom plans to visit during pheasant hunting season, and was all… Continue

Cat and dog interaction

So, here is the story

Our cat is still very jealous to our dog. She does not hiss at him that much like it was at the first days, but still... She follows him everywhere and hisses, she drinks out of his bowl, she tries to took over his toys...

Recently she even had some rest in his crate! So, we realized that she might want to have a new "cat's house". We went ahead and bought her a fancy-shmancy cat's house at the Petsmart. To our surprise, she didn't like it! She went… Continue

Calling all Corgis!

I think it would be great if we could get together at the Alimagnet Dog park in Burnsville, MN on Sunday September 21st. Say around 1pm? This will be Ein's second time at the dog park and his first since he was neutered.

Adirondack Chairs were made for Corgis

This is the best $40.00 I have spent on Madog yet. I never sit on the front porch always using the back one. But there is more for Madog to see in sitting out front and since we live in the hood there is no need putting something expensive out there.

I got a small Adirondack Chair with missing screws made out of crappy MDF at the Discount Builders and slapped a chair cushion from a different chair on it. The cushion fit better upside down so we went with it... tossed it on the front… Continue

12th Annual Southern California Corgi Picnic - Corgiaid Fundraiser

Yesterday, we took Mac to the 12th Annual Southern California Corgi Picnic. It's a chance for Corgi owners and their dogs to get together while fund raising for Corgiaid, a Corgi rescue organization.

I'm not sure how many Corgis came but there were at least a few dozen. Owners of nearly 70 Corgis sent their RSVP to attend.

It was held at Johnny Carson Park in Burbank, California, across the street from NBC studios. Though the location is a regular park as opposed to an… Continue
