Homemade Soapless Shampoo!

I remember seeing someone talk about soapless shampoo on here. I don't remember who. Most soapless shampoos are made of chemicals and aren't "real" soap. They have a lot of slip and don't leave residue, but they're also not very natural and can be kind of harsh on our furry ones.

Here's a recipe for soapless shampoo. It won't get soapsy or lathery, but it'll get your puppy as soft and clean as anything.

1 cup sulfonated castor oil

1 tbsp glycerin

1 tbsp mineral… Continue

Please Keep Them Leashed!

You'll have to excuse me if I seem pissed... it's, well, because I AM. Some may agree with me, some may not, and this writing may sound harsh, but it's because I am upset and angry at the moment. Why?

Because my dog was viciously attacked yesterday by a dog that was not leashed.

Many areas have laws that state ALL dogs MUST be on a leash. These laws exists for a reason. They were not created to be a nuisance. Their purpose is to protect yourself, your dog and… Continue

Corgi for Christmas

As of right now, I have two eight month old tri-colored corgis named Penelope and Lucille. They are my life! I wake up with them every morning and go to bed with them every night. They are half sisters and are the most beautiful creatures I have ever seen.

It's amazing to see how much animals can change your life, and even while I was on my honeymoon in Jamaica, I would have to roll up a towel and place it by me as I slept so I wouldn't cry about the dogs.

However, I WANT ANOTHER ONE!… Continue

The Return of Flat Dog

Greetings from way-too-sunny Southern California!

We're in a muggy heat wave here in San Diego. We left for our usual morning walk and I quickly realized it was going to be a scorcher. Our method we adapted was to go from shade spot to shade spot, where Sidney would immediately go into "flat dog" mode while Bruce waited impatiently. Our usual 45 minute walk took well over an hour with plenty of shade and water breaks.

Here is FLAT DOG near the end of our walk:…

Pray for Riley

The vet says Riley has a rare form of skin cancer and only has a few months to live. He is only 8 years old! I do not accept those words! He has a bunch of sores on his legs and belly. My family is torn apart in tears right now. We prayed over him and believe that there are still miracles and that Riley will be one. He is still full of energy and eating mostly everything in sight. He was starting to have accidents in the house but again I prayed and he… Continue

There's FRAPing and then there is FRABing!

I don't really think my corgi's are into FRAPing. It definately isn't random- it usually involves food or going for a walk. But they do practice FRABing- Frantic Random Acts of Barking. If one is on the bed, the chair or the sofa and the other wants up- FRAB! If I am taking too long to get their food bowls ready- FRAB! If the scritches feel really good- FRAB! If the leashes are out but they aren't outside- FRAB! If I am just sitting there and I am not paying attention- FRAB! If the evil… Continue

I kissed a dog...

I just can't help singing my own version of the popular song - I kissed a girl - it goes something like this...

I kissed a dog
and I liked it
The taste of his milk-bone biscuit

I kissed a dog
and I liked it
I hope the cat don't mind it!

I told some of my non-dog friends this - and they thought I was crazy - so I'm wondering what all you corgi lovers think - listen to the song if you haven't heard it.

SQUAAAWK!!! The gruesome twosome strike again.

The best/worst toy ever!

Found this at tractor supply yesterday, at about noon. a 12inch chicken that fits perfectly in a corgi mouth. Hard plastic and if you squeezed him- he squawked. I knew it was the perfect toy for the gruesome twosome. I got it home and it was love at first sight. Tigger wanted to do mad runs with it in his mouth. Molly wanted to kill it. They played with it for about an hour and then we put it away as there were other things… Continue

First Time at the Alimagnet Dog Park!!

We took Ein to Alimagnet dog park in Burnsville on Monday. He had such a blast. It was also nice to have a tired puppy! We were a little hesitant at first so we kept his leash on until we actually go next to other dogs, then we let him loosh. He was a little hesitant. But he saw the other dogs and started running away, trying to get them to chase him. He got a bit too close to the mud and water and we think he slipped it, but he was such a dirty puppy after that. He ran around in the dirt for… Continue

Life with Gibson: 9 weeks old

Gibson is 9 weeks old today and he's been with us for 10 days!

He is still doing really well. He can be a brat, but is a good learner. He already knows sit, come, lay down, and his name (although I think he thinks his name is 'good boy!' too). We're starting to work on leash training, but I think the leash we bought him is too big/heavy. I just can't wait to take him on walks to work off some of his energy and stimulate him with new things. I also tried to put a dog tag on his collar… Continue

Update on Lola

First off sorry this is so late, she has been better for a few days now, but I haven't had time to get to the computer. The day we were scheduled to go to the vet, we got pulled over and our car got towed!! I guess the license plate sticker was expired, and we had no clue?! It has been expired since February!! ha ha I guess were not too aware about all this car junk. Anyways, I asked my vet for an allergy test for Lola and he told me that 80% of his allergy patients have all been in this week… Continue

labor day delima

Last night when we returned home from dinner out, there was a mess in the kitchen. someone had bloody diareha. It was either 13 year old Myles or his 7 yr old Pappilon sister Madison. It was not until this morning that I discovered who had done it. it was Myles. For now, we are watching him, as the blood has stopped as quickly as it started. I am hoping he has some sort of a virus and he is not showing any other signs of distress.

'Tis but a flesh wound.

Poor Wally got bit by a pitbull yesterday. Good news is that he's fine. Bad news is that he has to wear this ridiculous collar for 2!! weeks.

A bit about Ofie

Ofelia was the only tricolor in her litter. Both of her parents are red and whites. But according to her lineage, she has a great-grandfather I believe it was who was a tri. She was born on April 21, 2008, to a breeder in Pennsylvania, and I brought her home 8 weeks later. She was a gift for my graduating college, so I was really surprised. I hadn't even planned on owning a dog for a while. I can barely afford her, but I wouldn't give her away for the world.

She was born a natural… Continue

Risa's brother found!

Yesterday I was busy learning for my English exam when suddenly I realized, that I didn't check my website for quite a long time. And to my surprise, I found a new comment there. Young girl from nearby town got a corgi as a wedding gift and he is my Risa's brother Figaro! She seems very kind and I hope that we will meet soon to let our little corgi brothers… Continue

Hillary our Corgle

I have been looking at all of the photos posted on the site and these are some beautiful Corgis. Our is a Corgi mix and I hope it is okay to be part of this site. We thought we wanted another golden - until we saw Hillary. Except for lazy ears, Hillary looks and acts like a tri-color. It is fun to see her characteristics reflected in the stories you all tell.

Boundless Energy

Ofelia loves to run circles around the apartment. I can't imagine what it sounds like to the neighbors downstairs, her rapid pitter patter. She gets so excited. She's actually at her most annoying when she's excited. She jumps and barks and nips, and when I try to discipline her she thinks it's a game. Then it makes me laugh and she goes running off again.

I finally got my first post-college job. And once I've saved enough money, I'm going to put Ofie in herding classes. I already… Continue

Horses

Zim loves horses. I take him out to the ranch where him and Sunny's mom lives and he starts whining before we even get to the place. He is usually fairly mellow but he gets so excited the minute we pull into the driveway- it's so cute. He gets to hang out and run around with his mom while learning to do what he is bred to do while I get ready to go riding. It's so amazing to watch. I feel for the horses as soon as Sunny gets big enough- watch out, 3 corgis and a bossipoo on the loose (the… Continue
