So...after a commenter here at MyCorgi.com suggested conferring with a "holistic" vet, I googled "<same>" and discovered one such person at the mega-commercial-vet that is the legacy of my old friend, now retired, and all-around great vet and redneck good-ole-boy, Jerry Jenkins. Who'd've thunk it? Jerry's veterinary empire is right down the road, as opposed to halfway across the city where I've been schlepping Cassie and now, New Pup.
Well. It was off to…Continue
M'jihito drove me out to Wittman yesterday for Puppy-Picking Day, his car being younger and more reliable than mine. We have a pup, a little girl. A slew of Phone Photos are here:
Wittman is an hour's drive from central Phoenix. This factoid made for an…Continue
From your experiences, what is/are the best airline to ship your puppy? I know the options are very limited as far as who accepts pets as cargo, but out of the few that do, I'd like to know who's the safest. Also, if it's a connected flight, is there anything to worry about? I would choose a direct flight, but the airport that my breeder lived near doesn't have ANY non-stop flights to NY!
Hello everyone! Bandit is doing fantastic (can't believe she is already 13 weeks old!), but I have had some issues the past few days with her while we have her outside to go potty.
The area outside my apartment where I take her to do her business has some mulch around the bushes, which was fine, but when the landscaping people came this past week they somehow managed to get little bits of mulch all over Bandit's usual potty area. The problem stems from this. She…
I was just confirmed to pick up my dream dog just after Christmas. A week ago I found these puppies from this https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/dbOJb fundraiser for Willa, a corgi rescue who was pregnant. THEIR TAILS WEREN'T DOCKED. They were in California. It was too good to be true. I found them hours before the application deadline for a puppy closed and fought the good fight to get one. I was just confirmed and my…Continue
I am getting myself ready before I get a puppy, I'm on a list for a breeder. I have slowly gathered everything I think I'll need, minus food, collar, leash (I want to wait to make sure I get something that fits).
I have seen a lot of people use xpens/playpens for pups when they are younger, for when they can't watch them or if they have to get up and do something, etc. I got a 30" high one to use at home, but my house is pretty much completely carpet! Not good for puppy…Continue
So, my little miss Bandit has been home for two days now. When is the other shoe going to drop? When is she going to become a troublesome puppy? I honestly just can't get over how perfect of a puppy she is!
She has been completely accident free.
She doesn't really bark in the house (unless she sees the cat running away from her).
She only whines for a few minutes before settling down in her crate during the day.
At night, she falls asleep within minutes of…Continue
So, really quick...this is my first dog since I was a teenager. His name is Shankly and he is 6 weeks old this week. He is a Pembroke Corgi and I have to say, my wife and I are so in love with this little guy.
We created an Instagram for him, for me to get used to Corgi owners, and the Corgi's themselves. They say "a picture speaks a thousand words" and they do, and the videos on there as well.
We get to bring the little boy home on Nov. 25th. I am so excited.…Continue
Hello fellow corgi lovers!
It is just 7 days until I bring my little miss Bandit home. She will be almost 9 weeks old. I feel like I am prepared, but I figured I would give a run down of what I have and see what other advice I could get. I want to be as prepared as possible for my little baby.
I just ordered a buckle martingale collar for my puppy that is coming home next week. I already have a regular martingale that I was going to use for her, even though I don't like that I would have to slip it over her head and adjust it every time I am going to have to take her outside. From my understanding, the buckle martingales work just the same as the regular, but just have the added convenience of buckling on like a normal collar.
I know a lot of people here swear by…Continue
Knowing that I will be bringing home my first PWC pup in about two months, I am
starting to test the waters to figure out what kind of food to feed. I am a big
fan of Blue Buffalo. My cat has been on it for years and all of my coworkers
feed Blue with great success.
I was looking at either the Freedom or
Basics "lines" that Blue has to offer. Freedom is grain free and Basics is a
limited ingredient food.
Also, I know there are varying opinions on…
Peaches is now 19 weeks and she's growing sooo fast! I was just going through some pictures of the first week that I got her and she was sooo tiny and so fluffy. I kind of miss her being small, but I also can't wait until she is fully grown. I thought I'd share the cute pictures that I was talking about! …Continue
So it's official! I just found out exactly who my baby is.
On May 25th or 26th I will be bringing home this little lady.…Continue
I was feeling discouraged. Hunting for the healthy Pembroke puppy with a tail is a tiring task. I was talking to my sister about just rescuing, I already have guilt for going with a breeder. Maybe my first dog is not supposed to be the dream dog. Maybe I am supposed to adopt some LA puppy. And maybe I am.
But then I ran into a corgi.
It's name was bubbles. Bubbles balanced treats on his head, he high fived with both stubs, he put his head in my lap when I petted…Continue
Ok you guys, it has been a CRAZY few days. A video I posted of Fiona on YouTube went viral, and it has been a total roller coaster ride since then. You can see the YouTube video here. And below is a photo of her smiling about all the nice people saying warm and fuzzy things about her.…Continue
After all of the months of research and waiting and planning and preparation...Fiona finally came home on February 1st. And oh, what a month it's been!…Continue
So last night at about 1am my husband and I took our rabbit, Gregory to the animal hospital because we were worried about him given that he hadn't eaten any of his hay or veggies. We even gave him a strawberry (his favorite) and he refused it. He had been this way for several hours and his temperature was off as well. Having lost our other Corgi last December we are still a bit gun shy when it comes to our pets health. So, if for no other reason than to calm our nerves we went to the…Continue
