We lost our 16 year old corgi, Alfalfa, today. She was very old and had survived malignant melanoma for five years. She was deaf, almost blind and had arthritic hips, but until today, she still would wag her tail and had a healthy appetite. I am glad she lived long enough to enjoy Figg and Newton for a while. They made her a little younger and a little zippier for a few months.

My friend works at a local vet clinic. She was telling me about a girl who has a lot of dogs and some horses. She said he has a corgi that she brings to work sometimes, and its not groomed very well. She said the girl likes to buy expensive dogs. I don't know why.. but anyway she said she was selling a horse she had. I mentioned to my friend about selling the corgi..
Well the girl said she would give me the corgi. Unfourtantly it wont be until the middle/late summer. She is moving then and…

Yup,
Keanu Reeves will be playing the role of Spile Spiegel in the live-action “Cowboy Bebop.”
Peter Craig is writing the script. Are you ready to audition for the role of "Ein"?

It's funny how exciting it is to get a new puppy. My Husband and I have do not have children so our Dougy is like our baby. This new corgi will be our new arrival. I have jittery excited nerves right now and already feel the motherly instinct coming back. I don't know if dogs are substitutes for children but I like it a lot.

I've hesitated mentioning this because, honestly, I hate listening to myself and I haven't heard the episode in question.
I have been a longtime listener to a podcast called The Petcast, and I sorta know the hosts -- well, sorta, in that if you're a fan of a show for as long as my sister and I have been, the hosts sorta figure out who you are. So, anyhoo, over the years I've called in about my cat's persistent flea problem, my daughter's cockatiel issues, and a year or so ago, I was…

I just spent a month away from my FuzzyButt baby. I went to see my boyfriend up in Washington State. I was worried about taking Banzai with me since my connecting flight was in Chicago. American Airlines has a weather restriction when it comes to pets traveling in cargo. Below 40 degrees a vet needs to sign a waver stating that the animal can withstand the temperatures. But anything below 20 something degrees is not allowed. So I opted to play it safe and left Banzai home with my mom. It is a…

JoJo is a personable, sweet and hard headed alpha tri-colored Corgi female. She has been living inside with my dad but he is going into assisted living and can't care for her anymore. She would be happy in a inside/outside home that is very low key - her favorite games are "rub my belly" or "I'll sit on your lap"!!! She loves to take walks or would be happy on a farm (as long as she is a house dog). Kids are okay but she would probably prefer a more…

He is purebred (no papers), neutered, fully vaccinated, and AVID microchipped. He has been raised with cats, kids, and other dogs. He has an excellent temperment and loves everybody. This guy does not know a stranger. He is potty trained, crate trained,…

We have found a beautiful tri female in Indiana. My husband and I will be driving up to get her at the end of the month! I'm very excited, and have been researching a good Welsh name for her. This is important because all of my great-grandparents were immigrants from Wales and were coal miners in upstate Pennsylvania. I am so thrilled... can't begin to describe adequately.

My wife and I finally entered the 21st century and bought a digital camera! Now I've got a bunch of new pictures of The Bruce (the first since he was a little pup) from when I was testing the camera, enjoy!

We are 5 days in to Corgi ownership, and I must say, we are HOOKED!! I want at least 10 more (LOL)!! Josie has been so much fun!! She goes 4 hours at night before whining (needing to go for a potty break), and with highs in the teens and inches and inches of snow, this has meant for some cold, sleepless nights! She "snow plows" in the snow - you would think that a low body would not fare well in the deep snow, but NO!! She is ALL about going into the…

I got a call from Chester's vet this afternoon. She said the results from the fructosamine test showed that his blood sugar had been level for the last few weeks. Which is good news.....it means he really doesn't need to have another glucose curve done and we don't need to adjust his insulin or food.
Now the bad news..........In May, when he was first diagnosed with diabetes, he had an ultrasound done and there was a mass on his liver. I never had it tested, because, frankly, I…

It's been a long holiday season. A few weeks before Christmas my girlfriend lost one of her chihuahuas, Lilly. We went to the local shelter every day to look for her, but unfortunately, as of today she is still missing. However there is a bright side to the story. During one of our visits to the shelter a few days before Christmas, I saw an absolutely adorable little brown and white corgi mix who had just arrived and I fell in love with her in an instant. My wonderful girlfriend decided to get…

I was a little worried when I first saw Freya, I thought her eyes were too small. Of course, boyfriend said that I worried too much and that puppies grow in spurts. He was right on all accounts. Her eyes, thankfully kept up with her head.
It seems that every time I put her to bed, time goes quick and she wakes up a different color or something is bigger.
Her paws started to catch up with her body, she seems longer now. Her biting has calmed down significantly but she still…

I am very excited to share with my friends and family that I am once again blessed with being chosen to go to Africa on mission with my church Carson Valley Christian. This will be my second trip to Nairobi, Kenya to help our sister church and work in the slum areas surrounding Nairobi.
My last trip in 2005 was a life changing event for me. During that trip, the time that we spent in medical camps, I felt led to pursue my degree in Nursing. When I got home, I left my 15 year career…

The vet was puzzled by what happened to him this morning. She checked his eyes and said they seem a bit cloudy. Cataracts maybe? She palpated his belly a bit, because when we originally took him in (in May) for his Diabetes, the ultrasound caught a mass in his liver. She believes that if it was cancer, he would be gone already. He's not jaundiced at all. She took a blood sample and did a simple sugar test. It came out to 237, which isn't bad for a diabetic dog 12 hours after his last dose of…

Chester's been acting a bit strange the last week or so. I think his insulin needs adjusting.
This morning at 5am I got up to go to the bathroom and asked Chester if he needed to go out too. He acted very very strange. He wouldn't move away from the door and didn't react to my voice at all. He sniffed A LOT. He went into the guest room and sniffed himself into a corner. He didn't react to my voice at all and he kept running into things that were right in front of him! When I tried to…

We took Gimli to Petco last Sat. for his first training day. They have a six weeks basic training course for puppies. He was the star pupil (go figure..lol) Sat. was to train to sit, the instructor chose Gimli to demonstrate on, little did she know he had mastered that on the third day we had him. She looked down at him and started her hand command and he sat pretty as a picture. Everyone laughed and she told Gimli "thanks for showing me up" it was so funny. It takes him about two tries on…
