Once again, a beautiful corgi has passed through our rescue. The picture shown on my home page is now of Kelley, and 11 1/2 year old sable female. Her owner is suffering with Altzheimer's and has been relocated to a nursing home. Sadly, no family member was able to take Kelley in and care for her in her twilight years. She is now being looked after by Humane Animal Rescue Team (HART) in Los Angeles. Her bio on their site (http://www.hart4dogs.org/hart_dogs.htm) reads as…

Risa is 12 weeks now and doing really great. The 4 weeks we've spent with him were full of worries, but full of fun, too. We love him so much! He turned to be a strong personality, stubborn sometimes, but brave and intelligent. We couldn't do much training because of his 2-weeks-long stomach problems - no treats, no training. But he learned a lot about our life just by watching us.
He's quite good on the leash, just a little bit of FRAPing sometimes. I take him to the town very often to…

I have been very sick, I do not get sick often, but apparently when I do, I do it big. As a result I mainly stumble home after a workday and roll up into a ball to die. Naturally, Cheez-it found this the perfect opportunity to switch personalities (er. dogalities?). The day before I fell ill with the common cold it rained, pretty bad actually. We went out to potty as usual and he enthusiastically jumped from the sidewalk to his normal stomping(pooping) grounds. On realization that it was wet he…

Oh how Willow loves the summer time! Hangin' out at the lake and barking at the skiers behind the boat...crazy girl! Everyone in the extended family has a dog... so besides Willow the Corgi there are 2 Schnauzers, 1 Labradoodle and 2 Cocker Spaniels that sometimes visit, all in ONE house!! Next door there is another black Lab and all around the lake - everyone has a dog!!! Sometimes Willow gets scared because all the dogs are so much taller than she is so she goes for cover under our bed…

I've got 3 more days until I meet my new baby! I can't wait! I'm a little under prepared for her though. The only thing I have right now is her slip collar. I went out and looked at the local pet shops over the weekend but I was pretty disappointed with the kennels and food bowls I was finding. Maybe I am just picky, but from experience with Lily, I kinda am particular about the things we already tried with her. I would like a set of bowls with a stand so that they don't get kicked around all…

So it's a sad day in Corgiville, Tasha has left for the bridge to meet her many corgis.
Tasha Tudor, an author, illustrator and poet, died today in her Vermont home. She was born Starling Burgess and later had her name legally changed to Tasha Tudor. She was one of the most prolific and revered illustrators of all time. Her career spanned nearly 75 years. Although most of her books were children's books, even as an adult, I still enjoy them. Her most famous (IMO) are the Corgiville…

**Reader beware! This is an extremely long post... I've separated it by topic**
Kuma has been with us for only four days now and he is doing WONDERFUL! Well, as wonderful as we can expect a 9.5 week old puppy to be. He's unbelievably affectionate and loving and enjoys hanging out with his humans... but I think this will also lead to some separation anxiety issues. I wasn't able to take off from work this week, but do go home for 1.5 hours each day during lunch to feed him and…

Penelope got her last set of puppy vaccinations yesterday! Yay! She is cleared for all that fun stuff now. But, she isn't eating very much now. I think it can be attributed to the vaccinations. She also got her rabies vax. That made a difference from her previous vaccinations because she was much more lethargic, and still is a little. She just threw up again b/c she was playing around chasing a bug, but is refusing to eat right now. It was the empty stomach kind. The vet also made her spay…

I thought it might be about time we started a thread about corgi's that have found their way into books.
Just about everyone has heard of Corgiville... but have you seen "
Korgi"?
I bought this book at the recommendation of a friend and it's BEAUTIFUL and magical.
Comments? Suggestions?

BEEZE-NUTS! Today was our last day of Fly Ball training for the summer due to me picking up a Sunday shift at the museum. It wasn't our BEST day but I still managed to capture some video clips to share with MY CORGI . COM! hahaha...Fly ball is FUN.COM!
Ok I am done.com - with the.com...
Fly ball did strap our relationship to a tighter fitting.
I love having that obligated time with my shortie and her non exsistant knees.
Nothing can break our bond! Or maybe me…

This past Saturday, 6-14-08, I picked up a very large 2 1/2 yr old sable male for fosterage. There apparently was an issue with a neighbor tormenting the dog and then calling in noise complaints and viscious animal complaints. The owners missed the court appearance date and were forced to give him away by default.
Scrappy could be a good boy. He's never had to be, never been taught how, but he has it in him. He can be aggressive with humans - he's snapped at me several times when he…

I signed Banzai up for puppy classes last week. He will be starting on Aug. 17th. My ultimate goal is the Canine Good Citizen coarse. That way if anyone wants to say that my puppy is a bad dog I can shove that certificate in their face.
I have all items needed for the class except my puppy, and treats. I even got a bag (that matches his collar I might add) to store them all in. Well not the puppy, he will be on lead beside me.
Today I went to Target (thanks for the tips…

Today, I finally caved in to mommy and gave her my paw! Shes been trying to get me to do it for months! Even daddy was watching... he couldn't believe it either... muhaha silly humans ;) Then the best part was when she thought she had me trained and asked for it again... I didn't give in so easily this time!

I came home around 4am, I was dropped off and walked clumsily inside. I immediately let out the little Cheez-it where he relieved himself many times. We came in and I took a seat on the couch and fell asleep! At some point during the night he chewed the bottom of my other couch, ate the debris, and then pooped it everywhere just so I would be sure to notice his efforts. I suppose I can only blame myself, but chewing the couch? Really? He's never done that before, but he proved he cannot be out…

Saxon did really well. He slept most of the night and so did we. Of course, we were all exhausted from the excitement. I brought him outside around 5:45 am to potty, which he didn't, and put him back in his gated area, but he was having none of that. It was time to get up. You know, it's amazing the amount of work you can get done when you get up at 6 am on Saturday morning.
We've had a good day so far, giving him lots of attention, taking him out often to potty, sometimes it works,…

Lucy has gotten so many bug bites! When I take her outside she comes in and has a few new ones each time. I talked to the vet and he suggested Skin So Soft by Avon. Being a Southern girl, I have heard about that bug repellent for years but did not know if it was a myth or not? Anyone with experience in SSS?
I also talked with another mom recently about bugs, and she suggested Burt's Bees Bug Repellent that she said kept even "nuclear mosquitos" away in Miami! That must be good stuff.…

So Lincoln has never been a fan of others trimming his nails. Anybody could touch them and play with them, kiss them, massage them ... anything BUT trim them.
Last Sunday Lincoln went to PetSmart for his grooming and I gringed when I saw the lady working ... she is not that personable and has never been patient with Lincoln. The other groomers know him by name and just love on him giving him hugs and kisses. This lady is always quick to say that we don't play enough with his feet, he…
