Dental Vaccine

I just came across this.Dog Dental Care - The Porphyromonas Vaccine

I do not even recall having this discussion with my vet about this. Has your Corgi been vaccinated?

It's Time To Play WHERE"S BEAR again!

Every time I post one of these I think "Hmmmm! Too easy!" But because I am stuck here at home (The Dallas, Fort Worth, Texas area.) I was thinking that there just aren't that many places that I can take Bear on a Sunday morning that Corgi people from all over the world will recognize and then "Boom" just like that it came to me. If you don't already know here is your hint. Bear is looking all irritated because here he sets at the home of some of… Continue

It's Potus's 1st Birthday!!

Today, Potus turns one.

He came into our lives when he was 3 months old so today we've enjoyed 9 months of puppy love, as well as 9 months of frustration :)

He's shown, and continues to show his stubborn side- he'll sit when he wants to thank you very much and has resisted all attempts to stop him biting- 'no bite', the spray bottle, rolling him over- none of its worked. The furniture and floor may be scratched and ripped but I love him none the less. He loves his walks,… Continue

Is there any doubt that she has NO idea that she's tiny?

Elderly pets, annual check-ups, and facing the inevitable

Where does the time go?

This entry isn't about a Corgi, or even a dog.

My cat, Alice, just had her annual vet exam today. She turned 16 sometime in the spring. I am not sure of the exact date, since I found her under a hedge when she was around 6 weeks old. A tiny half-wild thing, it took me a week of feeding her to bribe her out from under the hedge far enough so I could catch her, and she spent another week or so after that living under my bed and only coming out to eat… Continue

Our Puppy With Diarrhea

And ohhh gosh this is frustrating.

So far, I've cleaned his crate twice (will be doing it for a third) and will have cleaned the dog 3 times.

He's been having diarrhea INSIDE of his crate and we're suspecting because he decided to eat a month old pizza. I wonder how long this is going to last and what I should do?

Plus, my hubby is being a wuss about the smell. Yeah, it's not pretty, but at least I'm putting up with it!

Our Drama Queen

Thought you might enjoy a good laugh about KC's possible acting career. First of all, no matter what he tells everyone else, KC is my husbands dog. She tolerates me while he is at work. A couple of weekends ago Larry and the boys went to The Dalles for the weekend, I was packing their bags etc during the day and KC didn't seem to concerned, normally she assumes she gets to go anywhere we go and tries to help pack, I should have realized then she was up to something.Larry got home from work… Continue

not much of a guard dog

The other day, my husband and I were trying to train KC to "Help me!". So Brian wrestled me to the ground while I yelled "KC help!" (through my stifled giggles). She just sat there and silently watched. I was hoping that she'd at least run around and bark at Brian to let me go. Good to know that if I ever get attacked by someone, KC will be a good witness.

Now my husband is away for a few days, which makes me uneasy being by myself at night. It doesn't help that KC keeps looking into dark… Continue

Lyla's First Bone!

I finally got brave and gave Sky and Lyla their first ever REAL bones yesterday. They absolutely loved them!! Here are some pictures of the excitement, lol.

Lyla got confined to her crate both for cleanliness reasons and because she got a little snarly whenever Sky would so much as look at her bone. She gets like that… Continue

Do you have shot and license records on you at all times?

When my sons were small I carried their immunization cards in my purse. I figured you never knew if you might need them in case of emergency.

As a Corgi parent if you go on a routine outing, say dogparks do you bring your dog's license and shot records with you? I think if going on vacation it is absolute must.

Tegan doesn't know what to make of our tortoise...

When we first brought Tegan home we took her out into the back yard to let her walk around and this was the first time she was introduced to Mortoise the Tortoise. Mortoise was asleep in the middle of the yard when Tegan went up to him and started smelling him. She had the fright of her life when the big "rock" she was smelling started moving! Mortoise took it in stride and started walking towards her to investigate. Ever since she has been very suspicious of Mortoise :)…

So far, so good...

Goldy is here and bless her little heart! She gave corgis a bad name at the vet's yesterday - she bit the vet. They weren't doing anything to her, just holding her still on the table and she started squalling and screaming, lashing her head around. I was laughing a little because I couldn't believe such a loud sound was coming out of such a little girl. The vet looked at me VERY stern and said, "This is not funny, this is very aggressive behavior and you need to nip it in the bud… Continue

Tracking is Frustration at it's Finest!

I have started attempting to teach Dudley to track. OMG this is probably the most frustrating job I've attempted to teach Dudley! He actually knows how to do it and can do it really well, when he chooses to. That's the issue, "when he chooses to." AARGH!!!! If there weren't so many darn field mice, rabbits, moles and other critters out there in the fields this would be so much easier. Can I go directly to the VST test and skip the TD and TDX? I think he'd actually do better if we weren't out in… Continue

It's spring time! and Hachi has new friends =))

Around this time of year, every year, we get these blue tongue lizards that like to sneak into my backyard.

they're pretty common in parks and things like that too.

Well.. it was hachi's first time seeing them, and i think she just enjoys barking at them, which is really weird

cos she NEVER barks unless she's having a really good time playing. (or if u annoy her).

But yeah if anyone has this problem too, ive already rang the vet and they said they're not poisonous or… Continue

First Obedience Class for Misty

Well just got back from Misty' s first Obedience class in 5 years and she did great! Misty is my Honorary Corgi (actually she is a doberman) and really needs a refresher. She did so well two people asked if we were there just practicing for competition!! I have been thinking about competing with Sparty or Izzy but really did not think Misty could do it. Anyway I am thrilled because it means I can work with her to be better on the leash. It is tough to walk a 70 lb dog that isn't listening so… Continue

Woo Hoo!!

Today we had a breakthrough while practicing our training (with Uno). I've learned that cheese does wonders!! it's like magic! Doesn't get him TOOO excited, but just enough to capture all of his attention so he can work properly. Ahhh good boy! Can't wait til handling class next Tuesday.

Meeting up with Sarah (his breeder) this weekend to watch her show in West Springfield.. and then we will discuss plans for Uno to debut in the ring at the Thanksgiving Cluster show the week before… Continue
